SNOB Doesn’t Turn Its Nose Up At The Coin

snob_film_festival_960x355You probably thought we’d heard the last of The Coin.  Me too.

No, it turns up with out warning like a bad penny.  But in a good way of course :-)

Yesterday the writer/director/producer of the short film The Coin, Fabien Martorell, let us know that his work has been selected for another film festival.

This time its the people of Boston get the benefit of the 9 minute long drama starring Christopher Lloyd (The Addams Family) and Kathryn.  She’s the stressed mother taking her young son to a local store to buy groceries.  He’s the homeless man sat on the pavement/sidewalk out front who gives the boy a few words of wisdom.

The oddly named Somewhat North Of Boston Film Festival will be screening The Coin during its 3-day event in mid-November.  At the time of writing we don’t have specific details on when it will be shown.  I’ll bring you more when I can.

Interesting name that.  Concord, New Hampshire, home to the SNOB Film Fest is indeed ‘somewhat north’ of Boston, Massachusetts.  It’s also ‘somewhat north’ of New Boston, New Hampshire.  Why not go plural?  I guess it sounds better than Somewhat North Of Manchester (the New Hampshire version).  SNOB vs SNOM.

There’s not a lot there at the moment but browse the official SNOB website in anticipation.

Inferno Heats Up A Sunday Afternoon

poster_001Nearly missed this one.

In what can only be an attempt to make us Brits feel a bit warmer as temperatures begin the steady decline towards winter, the Horror Channel is showing the TV movie Inferno again today.

The Horror channel is available to everyone in the UK via the Freeview TV system so there is no excuse not to take the opportunity to watch one of Kathryn’s earlier roles.

4:50pm this afternoon (Sunday, 18th October) is the start time.  See the Media Alert post HERE from the last time I alerted our British readers of a screening for more details.

Bone Tomahawk Becomes Award Winner In Spain

sitges_film_fest_2480x3508There is a still a day to go of the Sitges International Film Festival in Spain but they’ve announced the winners of the events awards.

Bone Tomahawk has netted a Best Director gong for S. Craig Zahler.  Who, as luck would have it, is the director.  Funny that :-)

The horror western also took the prize for the José Luis Guarner Critic Award as the best feature film.

Congratulations to all involved on these first pieces of silverware for the project from everyone here at KM UK.

The movie has been garnering positive comments at every screening it’s done so far.

Mention should be made of the fact that Bone Tomahawk had a budget of only $1.8m and was filmed in just three weeks.  That’s tiny compared to almost every Hollywood movie, and is especially impressive when you consider the cast that it has.  Not only are there some big names in there (Kurt Russell and Matthew Fox to give just two examples) but there are at least six people that could easily claim a large chunk of that money on their own.  Clearly this was a project they really wanted to do.

Sunday? Bone Tomahawk? Tell You What: Telluride

Has it felt like you’re just constantly going up hill?

Each day another mountain to climb?

Well, take a break from what’s getting you down and head for the hills.  Why not actually climb a mountain?  Colorado’s got a few.  Pick the right one and you could end up in the town of Telluride.

On Sunday we have another screening of S. Craig Zahler’s directorial debut Bone Tomahawk.  Two in a row starting at at 5:30pm on Sunday to close the Telluride Horror Show film festival.

Along side some old favourites (if you like that sort of thing) there are also a load of short films.  All in the horror genre of course.

The Telluride Horror Show website should be able to apprise you of all the necessary.

Bone Tomahawk Puts A Cork In It

cork_film_festival_680x212Bone Tomahawk had a successful weekend at the BFI London Film Festival.

We found out last week that the horror western will be heading to Wales in mid-November.

Just before reaching the Abertoir Film Festival the movie will be overshooting the valleys and landing on the south coast of the Republic Of Ireland.

The 60th running of the Cork Film Festival plays host to Bone Tomahawk in a 6:30pm screening on the 9th of November at the Gate Cinema.  That’s a Monday evening.

Tickets are €10 or less and available via the CFF website.
