The Perfect Guy Could Be A Winner

poster_005By the end of November The Perfect Guy‘s box office take had risen to around $60m, five times the reported production budget.  The DVD/Blu-ray sales, due to start just after Xmas, can only help push it higher.

That sort of success is bound to attract attention to all those involved.

The film will have garnered a bit more interest yesterday (8th December) when the National Association For The Advancement Of Colored People (NAACP) announced the nominees for the 47th running of its annual Image Awards.

The NAACP has put forward both The Perfect Guy leads for awards.  Sanaa Lathan and Michael Ealy appear in their respective Outstanding Actor/Actress category.  Michael is up against the likes of Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years A Slave) and Will Smith (Men In Black).  Sanaa is vying with Viola Davis (How to Get Away with Murder) and Zoe Saldana (Avatar) amongst others.

Their co-star Morris Chestnut has missed out on actor or supporting actor in film nominations but gets one for acting in the TV series Rosewood.

For obvious reasons Kathryn does not figure, and was no doubt not even considered, for the supporting category.

The film itself is not in the shortlist of five films up for Outstanding Motion Picture.

The awards ceremony is due to take place on the 5th of February 2016.  Good luck to all the nominees.

Celebrity Kart Racing Toy Drive – Dec 2007 – Lap 2

toy_drive_017I[t] coulda been a contender!

toy_drive_007KM UK’s 2015 Advent Calendar is themed around the Where’s Wally/Waldo? book idea.  Each daily image is of Kathryn in one of her minor film roles and (sort of) obscured in the picture.  If public appearance photos had been included I could have used the one above.  OK, she’s not exactly hidden but she’s not the only one with long blonde hair in it either :-)

toy_drive_002Every so often I like to revisit an old public appearance with an update of new or improved photos.  If possible I make them date appropriate.  This celebrity karting event in aid of the Marine Toys For Tots Foundation took place on December the 2nd in 2007.  Eight years and two days ago!

You can read more about the event in the last post about it in 2012 here.  In the meantime enjoy the three large images you can see around this article that have now been added to the Gallery.

Xmas Advent Calendar 2015

advent_calendar_430x90What to do as this year’s theme for the KM UK Advent Calendar?  What to do indeed…

Recently one of those ‘meme’ things took over a small corner of the Internet.  It happens all the time of course.

Double world drivers champion Fernando Alonso has had a less than successful 2015 in Formula 1.  He’s had a car that proved itself to be amongst the worse of the year and the current rules make it difficult to fix the issues during the season, so it was not going to get better.  The Brazilian Grand Prix, the penultimate race weekend of the season, saw Fernando’s car fail him yet again, this time during one of the crucial practise sessions.  The Spaniard decided to relax at the side of the circuit and catch some Sun.  A photograph of him laying back spawned the #WhereWouldAlonsoRatherBe hashtag.  He was ‘photoshopped’ into various situations by the Internet’s artistic denizens, all considered preferable to having to drive the recalcitrant McLaren-Honda.

One such image struck me.  It was a take on the ‘Where’s Waldo/Wally?’ (depending on your side of the Atlantic) books with Fernando hidden in a complex image.  Could you spot the Nomex-suited, bearded racing driver?

So, for our Advent Calendar this year KM UK is going with a ‘Where’s Kathryn?‘ theme.  The images are all from films Kathryn has starred in but hasn’t had the biggest role.  In some of the shots you’ll have to work a little bit to find her.  See how long it takes you.

Check out the Advent Calendar album in the KM UK Gallery each day for a newly revealed pic.  There is now a link in the right-hand menu to save you searching for this post as the month progresses.

Cold Case Cast Catch-up – November 2015

It feels like a worryingly short time since the last Cold Case Cast Catch-up at the end October.  We’ll keep it brief this time with just a couple of pieces of news about the on-going careers of key members of the cast of the long running drama series.

In the middle of November Tracie Thoms (Kat Miller on CC) took part in another 24 Hour Plays event.  Multiple small groups of actors, writers, producers, and musicians get together to each create a new stage production in just, you guessed it, 24 hours.  These happen several times a year in various places.  This one was on Broadway in New York and was the 15th time they’ve held it there.  Tracie worked with Vanessa Williams (Desperate Housewives), Rosie Perez (White Men Can’t Jump), and Kevin Daniels (Sirens TV series).  A lot of other actors took part.  Edie Falco (Nurse Jackie), Diane Neal (recurs within the NCIS family of shows), Jason Biggs (Orange Is The New Black), Rachel Dratch (30 Rock), Kathy Najimy (Veronica’s Closet), Julia Stiles (Blue), John Krasinski (the US version of The Office), Molly Ringwald (Pretty In Pink), Phylicia Rashad (Psych), and Geoffrey Arend (Body Of Proof) were amongst the stars present.  The shows were performed in aid of the Urban Arts Partnership which helps students in under privileged areas by funding arts projects.

November saw Jeremy Ratchford (Nick Vera in CC) continue his run of guest starring roles in prime time US TV shows.   Since Cold Case ended Jeremy has appeared Shameless, Hawaii Five-O, Perception, and It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia.  Just this year he’s also turned up in The Mentalist, Bones, and Longmire.  The latest work is as another police officer in an episode of NCIS.  Jeremy was an old colleague of Michael Weatherly’s character Anthony DiNozzo who used to be a detective in Baltimore.

Happy Thanksgiving 2015

wallpaper_172_1980x2640_lollyHappy Thanksgiving to Kathryn, her family, and all our American friends from KM UK

Thanksgiving isn’t thing we do here in England so it easily slips the mind.

That may explain why I managed to forget to do this annual post last year.

It’s the last Thursday in November so our American cousins are getting in some pre-Xmas Xmas in the form of Thanksgiving.  We hope they enjoy it.

Much like this post has skipped a years it has been a few years since I used Lolly‘s wallpaper to illustrate one.  Thanks again to her for her work.  You can find more Thanksgiving themed fan art in the KM UK Gallery.
