Colonization Starts Next Week

colony_banner_2880x1260As it’s an American show I’ve gone with the US spelling of colonisation above, well it is an American city being colonized  :-)

The new USA Network sci-fi-ish drama series Colony is due to broadcast the first episode on Thursday of next week (the 14th of Jan).

For the past few months the  station has been releasing posters, teaser trailers, interviews with the key cast and crew, behind-the-scenes videos, Tweets galore and even the whole first episode as a preview.  Much has been said about the nature of the colonisation of LA.  Is it aliens?  Are other cities in the US or elsewhere across the world similarly walled in?  A likely ‘yes’ on both counts.  No doubt in the coming few days there’ll be a lot more.

One thing that we’ve not heard anything further about since the news broke last August of Kathryn’s recurring role as Charlotte is anything further about Kathryn’s recurring role.  Adrian Pasdar (Heroes), who is said to play a politician and is Charlotte’s husband, has gone equally unmentioned.  Their parts are not listed on the show’s Wikipedia page and have not come up in any of the publicity so far.  There have been no spoiler leaks on any of the major gossip sites either.

This lack of discussion could be a worrying sign of a significant change in the story lines or the production team have done a good job in keeping things locked down.  Perhaps the press have largely agreed to go along with the secrecy for the sake of the drama.  Who knows?

What we do know is that Colony starring Josh Holloway (Lost), Sarah Wayne Callies (The Walking Dead), Peter Jacobson (House), Amanda Righetti (The Mentalist) and Paul Guilfoyle (CSI) is just a week away.  There are ten episodes in the series.  Will you be watching?

Pick Free Cold Case In UK

CC_Titles_16Starting next Monday (11th Jan) the UK television channel Pick (previously known as Sky 3) will begin broadcasting Cold Case from the première episode Look Again.

Each weekday (Mon-Fri) morning at 9am, with a repeat at 5pm, the Pick station, which is freely available on all of the UK’s broadcast platforms (Freeview, Freesat, Sky satellite, and Virgin Media cable), will be showing an episode of the police procedural drama starring Kathryn, John Finn, Jeremy Ratchford, and Thom Barry.  Danny Pino didn’t join the cast until episode 6, replacing Justin Chambers.  Tracie Thoms’ Kat Miller didn’t appear until season 3.

In a slight twist in the first week there are actually six episodes across the five days.  I presume that the content of Our Boy Is Back (ep 3) means that they can’t show it at 9am and have pulled it forward to 1am.  Episode 4 (Churchgoing People) follows at 9am.  This may happen again later in the series.  If it works as it is designed to be used then the ‘series link’ feature of most PVRs should record them all for you.

This is only the second proper post of the year on KM UK and both have been about Kathryn’s work appearing on the small screen in Great Britain and Northern Ireland.  I make no apologies for that.  This is KM UK after all :-)  Hopefully it gives those of you elsewhere in the world a bit of inspiration to seek out things like Cold Case.

Inferno Heats Up Your Weekend

poster_001Welcome to 2016.

The Horror Channel here in the UK is getting the new year off to a blazing start with more showings of the disaster movie Inferno.

Kathryn has a key part in the film, and it is very different from the way we are so used to seeing her in roles like Lilly Rush.

I may have missed a screening yesterday but there are two broadcasts coming up in less than 24 hours:  19:00 GMT tonight (2nd Jan) at and tomorrow morning at 8am.

The Horror Channel is available via the free-to-air Freeview system, as well as Virgin Media cable and Sky satellite, in the United Kingdom and Ireland so everyone with a television can see it.  The network also appears to be on Sky in Italy but you’ll have to check local press/EPG for details on what they are showing.

Happy New Year!

The_Perfect_Guy_1080p_069Happy New Year from KM UK

Best wishes for 2016 to Kathryn and all her fans

I hope you will all join us in 2016.

Cold Case Cast Catch-up – December 2015

What better way to end the year than a quick round-up of new in the careers of the main Cold Case cast from December.  Here on KM UK we call it the CCCC-up.  For obvious reasons Kathryn is excluded.

Not for the first time news has broken on one of our CC alumni just after a CCCC-up was posted.  Sure enough within hours of our November item it was announced that Danny Pino (Scotty Valens in CC) will be returning to the CBS network, after a four season stint on NBC for Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.  The creators of the hit series The Good Wife have a comedy thriller in the works called BrainDead and starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead (The Returned).  It is set in the political world Washington, D.C.  Intriguingly, apparently it includes a zombie and aliens element.  Congressmen and other staff have had their brains eaten by aliens.  Brainless politicians…  Surely the jokes pretty much write themselves at this point?  Danny will be Mary’s brother, a Senator from Maryland.  BrainDead is due to air next summer.

A CCCC-up is not complete without a mention of Tracie Thoms (Kat Miller in CC).  She always gives us something to post about.  Back in the summer (it seems so long ago now) we reported on a movie Tracie was starring in called Equity.  It has been scheduled to have its world première at the Sundance Film Festival which takes place towards the end of January.  Following on from August’s update about the Tracie-led web series Send Me there is news.  The plan is for the series to be premièred in February, which is Black History Month.  Send Me is about a woman (Tracie) who has the power to transport people back in time to the era of slavery in America.
