Terminator Salvation Première Photo Update

terminator_salvation_39It is fair, and a little punny, to say that photos from this event kill me every time.

We’re looking back seven, yes 7, years to May the 14th 2009 when Kathryn attended the US première of Terminator Salvation.

The film was set to reboot the franchise with a new John Connor in the form of Batman, aka Christian Bale.  It didn’t really succeed.  They tried again in 2015, this time with Arnold Schwarzenegger back involved as well as Game Of Thrones star Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor.  I don’t think that one worked either.  No doubt there are plans for another in the series though.  Hollywood just can’t let a possible cash-cow go.  Next they’ll be trying to make a sequel to Beetlejuice!  They are?

Anyhoo.  The film may not have given the fans what they wanted but Kathryn on the red carpet certainly did!

She looked stunning in her little red dress and similarly sparing use of make-up and simple hair style.  What could be better?

It’s all there.  Including a some lovely smiles.

I’ve added 9 more images from the event to the Gallery for you to feast your eyes upon.  If you dare!

To quote the big man:  “We’ll be back” to this one in the future.

You Get Me In Cannes… Sort Of

And probably not yet ‘in the can’ either.

Starting today (11th May) on the south coast of France is the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.  The 69th in its history no less.

Awesomeness Films, the production company behind the upcoming teen drama You Get Me starring Bella Thorne (Blended), will be in the French resort to promote some of its offerings to distributors.  Cannes is more of a trade show than a film festival.

You Get Me is, as far as we know, still being filmed so discussion of the movie at the event will be as much about gauging reaction to the genre as generating sales.  If regional distributors feel they can attract local audiences with certain types of films it will guide company’s future projects.

We don’t know much about You Get Me so far beyond the principal cast, some plot elements, and that Kathryn has been mentioned as being in it.  No specifics yet.  You can see what have so far in the previous post HERE.

No release date has been… released… but this year seems likely.

Colony On DVD In July

colony_season_1_dvd_artwork_003There is something deeply unsettling about the idea of a faceless entity arbitrarily dividing the human race up for unknown reasons.

Are you in area 2?  Do those in area 1 seem to have it much better?

But that’s enough about DVD region codes…

July 12th, 2016 sees the first season DVD release of the TV series Colony.  In America that is.  It is on the country’s local Amazon website here.  The price at present is $24.

The USA Network’s 10 episode sci-fi-ish show will be in a three disc box set.  Along with a behind-the-scenes documentary, that was aired before the first episode went out, there is said to be some deleted scenes.

Publicity photos of Kathryn in the show included shots from scenes we’ve not seen.  Could they be part of the extras?

Colony is set in a modern day earth that is under the control of aliens.  The world’s defences have been disabled and what is left of humankind has been allowed to remain living in walled-off ‘blocks’ of major urban centres like Los Angeles.  Josh Holloway (Lost) and Sarah Wayne Callies (The Walking Dead) are a husband and wife that find themselves on opposite sides of collaborate/resist divide.  He’s a works as an agent for the security services keeping the peace for the ‘hosts’.  She’s trying to help the fight-back against the oppressive regime.  Both are doing so for the sake of their family.

Kathryn guest stars in three episodes as an art curator in the more comfortably accommodated ‘green zone’.  She’s also the wife of Adrian Pasdar’s (Heroes) politician who has ambitions of moving up the power tree.

There are three images showing the DVD box art now in the Gallery.

6 Years And Counting

“2009, 2010 wanna make a record how I felt then”

To quote part of Arcade Fire’s aptly titled song Month Of May.

Here on KM UK we mark a few anniversaries each year.  Most are happy occasions, but some are inevitably less so.  This is one of those.

On the 2nd of May 2010 the CBS television network in the US of A broadcast the very last episodes of Cold Case.  The back-to-back broadcast of two episodes (Paradise Lost and Shattered) closing out season seven that Sunday night six years ago brought the show to a close.

It’s legacy lives on as we saw just a few weeks ago when it was announced that a Japanese version has been put into production.  Perhaps the recent rise of the ‘Scandi drama’ series with more story and less chasing and shooting could also be put down to the character focus of Cold Case.  Producer Veena Sud went on to make the American version of The Killing don’t forget.  Plus, all over the world the original is still being repeated regularly.

Another legacy of Cold Case is the wonderful cast and they’re burgeoning careers.  We regularly remind ourselves of them in the monthly Cold Case Cast Catch-up posts.

Cold Case Cast Catch-up – April 2016

tracie_thoms_001_430x180

The year is going so quickly.  We’ve nearly reached the end of April already.  That means it is time for a look at the on-going careers of the non-Kathryn members of the cast in a Cold Case Cast Catch-up.

Before I get sidetracked let’s get Sidetracked :-)  The webseries by that name starring Tracie Thoms (Kat Miller on CC) was released on YouTube earlier this month.  Sidetracked is made up of four episodes covering the intertwining lives of four friends over the course of what appears to be just one morning.  As you go through each of the 10-15 minute long pieces you’ll see elements of what you’ve seen before.  For instance, as two of the friends talk on the phone you will see more of the other half of the conversation later.  Tracie’s Leigh, a make-up artist, is the focus of episode two.  You can find links to all four episodes on the official website here.

If her Instagram posts are anything to go by Tracie has been involved in filming a short film called Pipe with her friend and Raze and Death Proof co-star Zoë Bell.  When Zoë’s involved you know they’ll be fight scenes.  It also looks like Tracie could be in an upcoming episode of The Mindy Project.  Apparently the show is still going on the streaming service Hulu and has recently returned from hiatus.  Who knew?  No, Hulu.

Thom Barry (Will Jeffries on CC) items in these CCCC-ups are like buses.  None for ages then two come around the corner at once.  It was only last month that we had a meaningful update on the movie Mr Church.  Now there are signs of a new film, Phoenix 454, being in the early stages of pre-production.  Written by Melanie Star Scott from her own idea it appears to involve a main female lead and some form of motor racing.  Maybe.  Thom is listed as Frank ‘Primo’ Stallings.  Not sure ‘stallings’ is the best choice for a film with cars featuring strongly in though…

Last month I covered the fact that the new CBS TV series BrainDead, which stars Danny Pino (Scotty Valens on CC), will be premièring June the 13th.  Since then a couple of promo videos have been released.  You can see brief glimpses on Danny in a very short the video on Twitter here and a bit more in a promo on MSN.com here.
