Roommate Vanted

roommate_wanted_german_bluray_cover_001It’s been a year.

A whole 12 months, almost to the day, has gone by since I last posted about Roommate Wanted (aka 2Br/1Ba).  That very post, my review of the movie, is here.

I have just discovered that Roommate Wanted has been released in Germany for home viewing.  Not only is it available on DVD, as it was in the USA, but also on the hi-def Blu-ray format too.

It looks like it started shipping at the beginning of this month (June 2016).  Despite what the image on the right suggests I believe the disc is rated with as acceptable for 16 year olds.  Check your local suppliers for details though.

As things stand at the time of writing the UK is still part of Europe and the whole continent, and Australasia, are part of the same region for DVDs and Blu-rays so cross border purchasing is viable.

Kathryn has a small role in the comedy drama about two room-mates (played by Alexa Vega and Spencer Grammer) who get into a more than a little disagreement about something.

Like They Needed To Ask…

The TV Series Finale website is asking the question that those of us on this website already know the answer to.

Who’s the Sexiest Female Cop or Detective on TV?

We’re surprised it even needed to ask.

I give you exhibits A, B and C, your honour…

And that’s just 3 images from the Cold Case promos for season 2, 4 and 6 respectively.  I don’t even need to pull out the BIG GUNS!  There’s lots of other great examples in the KM UK Gallery.

In the piece they refer to Mariska Hargitay (Law & Order: SVU), Gillian Anderson (The X-Files), and a real blast from the past Heather Locklear from (remember this?) T.J. Hooker.  It was a nice touch to list these lovely women but they let slip the real truth behind the article by finally casually dropping in Kathryn.

Feel free to set the good people of TV Series Finale straight HERE.

Bone Tomahawk On Disc In UK Tomorrow

dvd_box_002 New news has been a bit hard to come-by of late so in another ‘remainder reminder’ the horror-western Bone Tomahawk is out on on DVD and Blu-ray formats in the UK from tomorrow (13th June).

I’m not sure how successful Bone Tomahawk was at the cinemas.  It got a limited release and was also made available via VOD services around the same time, which will have had an impact.  This makes box-office figures sparse and of limited use in gauging results.

blu-ray_box_003The long time span between the first UK screening at the BFI London Film Festival in October of last year, the general release being delayed until February of this year, and then a further 4 months for the home disc release, can’t have helped matters.

The general consensus appears to be that Bone Tomahawk is a very good film, especially for such a low budget production from a first time director (also the writer) S. Craig Zahler.  The stellar cast must have helped in getting the idea to the screen.

No doubt it will quickly become a cult classic now it is available on disc.

Here are links those links again to the Amazon UK DVD and Blu-ray pages.

There is still over a week to go if you want to win a copy of Bone Tomahawk in the format of your choice in a competition on the Scream horror magazine website.  See HERE for details.

Monday? Feeling BrainDead?

With only a few hours of the weekend remaining there is just time to squeeze in a couple of reminders.

Tomorrow (Monday, 13th June) sees the première of the first episode of the new CBS comedy-drama BrainDead starring everyone’s second favourite Scotty: Danny Pino.

There have been a few reviews published by various outlets in recent days and it is fair to say they have been a mixed bag.  Many love it, others think it does not work.

Comedy is a tricky thing.  Make a dramatic movie and you could have a two minute long segment in the middle where nothing happens (no drama) and no one would bat an eyelid.  Make a comedy and have the same lack of the period with no jokes and it’s considered a failure.  That’s makes comedy even harder to make.  So, why do all the Oscars go to dramas?

My excuse for mentioning the show again is that it sounds interesting and therefore might be worth a watch.  With the state of politics at the moment (I gather soundbites from the recent presidential campaign have been included) it might give you a few extra laughs.  Or terrify you.  Or both.  And Danny’s in it for those that like a bit of Valens.

Bone Tomahawk On Disc In UK Next Week

blu-ray_box_003 dvd_box_002Monday-week (that’s the Monday after tomorrow for those non-Englanders) the horror western Bone Tomahawk will be released on DVD and Blu-ray formats in the UK.

It hits the shelves, virtual and real, on Monday the 13th of June.

Much to my surprise it looks like I didn’t post this information when I found it out a while back.  I definitely posted about the addition of pages on Amazon’s website back in February but the information then was not complete.  Later the proper date was added.

The prices of the discs has dropped since then to £9.99 (~US$15) for the DVD and £14.99 (~US$22) for the Blu-ray.  Don’t worry if you pre-ordered, you will be charged the lower price at the time of shipping.

If you would like to a copy for free then the website of Scream, the horror magazine, is offering readers an opportunity to win one.  They have 7 Blu-rays and 3 DVDs so there are ten chances to take a price.  You only need to send them an email with your contact details by the 20th of June (a couple of weeks from now) to take part.  See the Scream website HERE for details.
