Reverie Season 1 Episode Titles

artwork_002Over the past few weeks the titles of the initial episodes of the new sci-fi-ish drama series Reverie have been released.

As regular viewers will be well aware Reverie stars Sarah Shahi (Person Of Interest) as a former hostage negotiator brought in to help extract people ‘stuck’ in a virtual reality environment.  Our Kathryn is one of the key supporting cast as a member of the department of defense which is very interested in this VR technology.  The military wanting new stuff rarely means good things!

As we’ve now got the first six names I thought it would be a good time to compile the ones we have so far into a list for easy reference.

Ep # Title Comment
1 Apertus Latin for ‘open’
2 Bond. Jane Bond
3 No More Mr Nice Guy
4 Blue Is The Coldest Color
5 Altum Somnum Latin for ‘deep sleep’
6 Pas de Deux A ballet term for a duet dance. French for ‘step of two’

Many TV shows follow quite fixed patterns for their episode titles.  Friends always used “The One…” and The Big Bang Theory makes theirs sound like scientific studies to name two.  As you can see Reverie has gone for much more mixed bag.  There’s some cultural references (“Bond. Jane Bond”) and some Latin in there.

Obviously, each title relates to the content of the episode in some way so it will be interest to see how they tie in to each plot line.  Feel free to speculate.  Apertus is a good start for a opening episode and could be to do with the opening of the Reverie virtual world created by Jessica Lu’s computer wiz Alexis Barrett to customers/visitors.

As mentioned in an earlier post it is looking like Reverie will start on March the 6th (a Tuesday) next year and continue the 10 episode run on NBC uninterrupted, ending on the 8th of May.

It seems that the show is still in production but can’t be far off finishing the main filming process.

Update (13th November):  I very nearly wrote in the piece above that posting with 6 titles released would mean more would be within hours.  So it came to pass.

Two more Reverie episodes have been named.

Ep # Title Comment
7 The Black Mandala  A mandala is a type of spiritual symbol
8 Despedida  Spanish for ‘farewell’

Hopefully we can put titles to the two remaining episodes soon.

Cold Case Cast Catch-up – October 2017

The recent changing of the clocks may have left us confused as to what time of day it is but it is definitely the last day of October.  That can only mean one thing: the latest Cold Case Cast Catch-up.  Read on.

Danny Pino (Scotty Valens in CC) is returning to the works of writer/producer Kurt Sutter.  Before taking the role we know Danny for best he had a five episode run in the gritty drama series The Shield.  Kurt, who wrote many episodes of The Shield and produced even more, went on to create the motorcycle gang-based show Sons Of Anarchy.  It has been three years since SOA, starring Charlie Hunnam (King Arthur: Legend of the Sword) and Katey Sagal (Married With Children), ended but now plans are afoot, afoot I tells ya, for a spin-off series called Mayans MC.  A pilot was shot last year but they are re-shooting it with significant changes to the cast and story.  Danny is said to have taken a lead role in this new version for the FX network which takes place within the same universe but some time after the end of SOA.  James Olmos (Battlestar Galactica) is co-starring.

With that out the way we can get to the usual meat in these monthly articles:  the continuing efforts of Tracie Thoms (Kat Miller in CC) to put dozens of other performers out of work :-)

I think I missed this particular news from very late in September, but it is not as though we’re often short of things to say about Tracie.  Last December’s round-up of CCCC-up round-ups was the last time we mentioned the movie The Basement, a horror film about a serial torturer/killer and kidnapped musician.  Mischa Barton (Notting Hill) stars as the wife of the missing tune-smith.  A trailer was released a month ago and the news broke that the film would receive a world première at the Shriekfest Film Festival in Hollywood in early October.

Speaking of horror films, it seems to be the season, a whole two years ago I posted about a new short film called No Touching starring Zoë Bell (Raze).  They were running a Kickstarter campaign to raise (raze?) money for the project.  Exactly what happened after that I’m not sure but just a few days ago the 10 minute long film was published on YouTube HERE.  Tracie has a small role alongside lead Zoë, with whom she has worked in several films.

Lifetime network’s series UnReal gives its fans a bit of hard time.  The third season renewal was swift but the actual production and release were delayed.  In June we covered the news of a ‘early 2018’ debut for the next run with Tracie receiving a recurring role.  Now it has been narrowed down to late February 2018.  On top of that good news for the die hards is evidence that the fourth season is already being filmed.  Tracie posted a photo on social media last night of herself on the set of UnReal for the filming of season 4.  No doubt that will be broadcast sometime in the mid-2020s :-)

A further social media posting by Tracie last week strongly suggests that she will be in an upcoming episode of the CBS drama Wisdom Of The Crowd.  Jeremy Piven (Mr Selfridge) stars in the new show about a tech pioneer who has developed a computer tool to solve murders.  Sounds a bit like Person Of Interest crossed with Minority Report.  More news on Tracie’s guest appearance at a later date.

In July the stage musical Falsettos, which Tracie starred in earlier this year, was recorded for showing in cinemas across the country.  Last Friday the performance was broadcast on the PBS network.

Kathryn’s A Minx For Lynx

nycc_video_007_035

A couple of weeks on from the New York Comic Con we still seeing content released from it.

nycc_video_007The latest is a video of Greg Bernard of Entertain Lynx putting a few questions to Kathryn Morris and Jessica on the red carpet.  The two ladies, ‘Jess and Kat’, were promoting the upcoming TV series Reverie.

It’s all a bit of silly fun.  Jessica is clearly a bad influence on our Kathryn as she drops the ‘b’ word :-)  We don’t get to learn much about the show except that Kathryn’s DoD staffer Monica Shaw bullies Jessica’s software engineer Alexis Barrett.

Watch the video in full on YouTube HERE.

A small version of the video and a set of HD screencaps are now in the KM UK Gallery.

Kathryn’s All Smiles In Syfy Reverie Interview

nycc_video_006_019

And smiles, amazing as they are, is pretty much all we got.

A further bit of reporting from the recent New York Comic Con has been published.  This time it is a video interview with the Reverie cast (Sarah Shahi, Jessica Lu, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Dennis Haysbert, and Kathryn), and creative team Mickey Fisher and Tom Szentgyorgi.

Lisa Granshaw lead the chat for the Syfy.com website.  The cast talk a little about the concept behind the show and have a laugh about what they might do with a chance to go into a virtual world like the one Jessica Lu’s character has created.  Mickey and Tom explain what was behind the idea.

nycc_video_006As I say, sadly Kathryn really doesn’t get to contribute anything in this interview.  Maybe there was more that was left out of the 5 minute edit published.  No doubt they all did dozens of these chats with various journalists through the day in New York, so only so much time can be allocated to each.

See the article and the video on the Syfy website HERE.  Don’t read too carefully if you want to avoid a spoiler about a particular location visited.  It’s out of this world!

A small number of screencaps from the video and copy of video itself can now be found in the KM UK Gallery.

Reverie @ NYCC Is Bleeding Cool

artwork_002Reports from the New York Comic Con event of the previous weekend are starting to spring up.

As we know the cast of the new ABC drama series Reverie attended the ‘con’, took part in a discussion panel after a screening of the pilot, and also conducted individual interviews with members of the press.

The Bleeding Cool website has an article by Adi Tantimedh who, after a explanation of Reverie‘s premise describes it thus:

This is one of the more ambitious shows this season. It’s not another cop show or another soldier show. It’s about tragedy, loss, and empathy. It’s about the desire to escape from the trauma and sadness of life into a dream world, and the need to connect with humanity and emotion.

Adi goes on to give quotes from each main actor (Sarah Shahi, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Jessica Lu, Dennis Haysbert), creator Mickey Fisher, and producer Tom Szentgyorgi.  Of course Kathryn is there too.  Here is what she said about Reverie and her character Monica Shaw from the Department Of Defense:

I thought this show is a beautiful execution of a psychological thriller within this emotional landscape in the world of virtual reality. It’s not like a typical Sci Fi show where the emotions come later. It’s a tangible take on the power of virtual reality. And nobody does it better than Amblin. My character lives in a grey area of Light and Dark in the way the government uses things for their own purposes.

You can read Adi Tantimedh’s full piece HERE and a follow-up article on how the show is about finding a human connection HERE.
