Paycheck Première 2003

003For various reasons it has been a quiet December on KM UK.

To make up for it we’re going to take a trip to an Xmas past.  It’s an Xmas present to enjoy for the Xmas (in the near) future.  See what I did there? :-)

Fourteen, yes 14!, years ago today (18th December 2003) the action/sci-fi-ish movie Paycheck got the red carpet treatment at the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.  The general release started a week later on the 25th.

Strikes me as an odd time to bring out a movie.  In the UK that would never happen.  The big day is a national holiday so places like cinemas are not open, Boxing Day maybe.  I know that in the US Thanksgiving is more significant like that.

It had not occurred to me before but the wonderful red colour of Kathryn’s dress is a little bit Xmas-y.  Wonder if it was deliberate.  As there is not much more to it than the colour hopefully winter in Hollywood was not cold that evening :-)

Last updated in 2010 I’ve added 12 more photos to the Paycheck première gallery here.  That’s one large image (the one above) and 11 medium sized ones.

Cold Case Cast Catch-up – November 2017

tracie_thoms_001_430x180

The recent changing of the clocks may have left us confused as to what time of day it is but it is definitely the last day of October. That can only mean one thing: the latest Cold Case Cast Catch-up. Read on.

Most months we headline these posts with a picture of one of the cast of Cold Case to illustrate the first person we’re going to talk about.  Just for a change I’ve gone with two pictures.

Tracie Thoms (Kat Miller in CC) spent the early part of the November posting about a new project she’s been involved in. By the sounds of it this has been a long (10+ years) development process which finally culminated in a few days of filming for something called Say Goodnight And Go.  Tracie got to spend some timing strolling around in a lovely wedding dress, and (possibly) rolling around in a lot less with someone we all know very well…

Danny Pino (Scotty Valens in CC) spent the early part of the November posting about a new project he’s been involved in. By the sounds of it this has been a long (10+ years) development process which finally culminated in a few days of filming for something called Say Goodnight And Go.  Danny got to spend some timing strolling around in a lovely wedding dress, and (possibly) rolling around in a lot less with someone we all know very well…

:-)  OK, in Danny’s case he wasn’t in the wedding dress or posting about it.  It is true that there was a small Cold Case reunion of sorts as Tracie and Danny look to have spent a while together in some sort of ‘romantic’ scenes.  I’m tempted to say that Danny probably only has a small part, but I won’t :-)  It is not clear what their characters’ relationship is, and whether it relates directly to ‘the dress’.  Plenty of material for the Cold Case fan fiction writers to work with there though.

If that wasn’t enough Cold Case-fan squealing, just a week or so later Tracie was at a table reading of a new horror comedy called Everybody Dies.  This time our old friend Jeremy Ratchford (Nick Vera in CC) is co-starring.

Things have been quite quiet on the Danny front this year.  February was one of the few times we’ve talked about him and it was about a TV project called Gone.  Danny stars as an FBI agent with Leven Rambin (True Detective) and Chris Noth (Mr Big in Sex And The City) in the abduction-based story.  The 12-part drama was produced jointly by NBC Universal in America, TF1 in France, and RTL in Germany.  Despite those three countries being closely involved it appears that the first episode premièred on the Universal channel in Australia a couple of weeks ago.  No news on other parts of the world.

Speaking of CC renuions:  Tracie one again graced the screens of CBS the Sunday before last (the 19th) as a guest star in the sci-fi-ish drama series Wisdom Of The Crowd.  This was the 8th episode of the season.  Earlier this week it was announced that no more would made beyond the initial 13 episode order.  If a show is going well it can expect more to be added to extend the run.  Recent allegations about the behaviour of the lead actor Jeremy Piven (Entourage) has lead to the show effectively being cancelled.  Not so great ratings suggest a renewal for a 2nd run at a later date is unlikely.

Complete Reverie Season 1 Episode Titles

artwork_002Following on from the post a few weeks ago KM UK can now bring you the complete list of episode titles from Reverie‘s first season.

The final two titles have been revealed to fill out the 10.  Number nine is called The Key and the finale is Point Of Origin.

Personally I’m surprised that the last one doesn’t have a more ‘ending’ themed name.  Perhaps it hints at things coming full circle.

Reverie is due to hit the TV screens in the US of A in March next year.

Here is the complete list in table form.

Ep # Title Comment
1 Apertus Latin for ‘open’
2 Bond. Jane Bond
3 No More Mr Nice Guy
4 Blue Is The Coldest Color
5 Altum Somnum Latin for ‘deep sleep’
6 Pas de Deux A ballet term for a duet dance. French for ‘step of two’
7 The Black Mandala A mandala is a type of spiritual symbol
8 Despedida Spanish for ‘farewell’
9 The Key
10 Point Of Origin

Xmas Advent Calendar 2017

advent_calendar_430x90One of the more difficult issues this site has to deal with each year is deciding on a theme for the Advent Calendar.  It’s the double complication of coming up with the idea and then finding images from Kathryn’s body of work that fit.  No images, or not enough to fill the 25 ‘windows’, and it’s backs to the drawing board.

This year the theme part was relatively easy.  It has been staring me in the face for a few months and will continue to be with us into next year.  Plus, and this is key, it gives us some scope for nice images of Kathryn.

The theme for the KM UK Advent Calendar for the run-up to Xmas Day 2017 is reverie.  Obviously this relates to the new TV show due to start in March but we need to go to the meaning of the word.  The dictionary definition is this:

reverie/ˈrɛv(ə)ri/
noun
a state of being pleasantly lost in one’s thoughts; a daydream.

So, we are looking for pictures of Kathryn from her roles in TV and movies where she is looking happy and deep in thought or distracted.  Not sure I’ve nailed it in each case, some may require some latitude to be given, but there are 25 images now waiting to revealed in the coming weeks, starting on the 1st of December.  Can you think what might be included?

The Advent Calendar album in the KM UK Gallery is now available (see the handy link on the right) and a new picture on the reverie theme will be unveiled daily.

Happy Thanksgiving 2017

banner_111_500x200_icywinterHappy Thanksgiving from KM UK to Kathryn and all our American friends

It has been a couple of years since KM UK posted about Thanksgiving.  As it is not celebrated in the UK it is easy to let it get past us.  To the Brits the fourth Thursday in November is just that: a Thursday in late November.

As is the custom here on KM UK we like to mark such events with art works submitted by our readers.  This time we are using one sent to us 6 years ago by someone going by the appropriate moniker of IcyWinter You can find the image about and lots of other works of art by fans of Kathryn in the KM UK Gallery.  We always welcome new submissions for entry.  Use the contact us form if you’d like to add to the collection.
