Hayseed Selected For Capital City Film Festival 2023

This early part of the year is often called Awards Season. Lots of ceremonies happen around now. We’ve already had the Golden Globes (television & films), the Grammys (music). Last weekend it was the movie BAFTAs in the UK. Tomorrow (26th Feb) it will be the Screen Actors Guild Awards, which we’ve seen Kathryn attend before. Soon it will be the 2023 Oscars, which will be considered very dull unless there is a full-on punch-up. And that’s just the entertainment industry! We’ve not mentioned any sports or computer games events to name just two more.

Here on KM UK it is more like Festival Season.

The latest news on the new movie Hayseed, in which Kathryn has a small role, is another film festival appearance.

The independent crime thriller/mystery/comedy has been official selected for the Capital City Film Festival 2023. The CCFF takes place in Lansing, Michigan in the US of A across 11 days in the first half of April. Lansing, which many may not realise is the state capital city of Michigan is around 60 miles (110km) west of the better known Detroit.

Details on screening times have not been announced yet, nor a complete set of films due to be shown. We’ll certainly bring those to you when we can. Tickets allowing access to the whole event are available already.

Hayseed Wins At Another Hole In The Head

The new movie Hayseed was shown at the mainly horror-based Another Hole In The Head film festival back in December 2022.

A few weeks ago the festival announced their award winners for the year. Some how the organisers manager to narrow things down and award over 50 entrants with their honours. My understanding is that there were more than 200 films, both short and feature length, showcased at the event.

Hayseed was the winning nominee in the Best Mystery/Noir Feature category.

16th Annual Ante Up For Autism

Kathryn and family attended the latest Ante Up For Autism event last September (2022).

It is primarily a charity auction in aid of TACA (The Autism Community in Action) with prizes and awards given. Apparently over $1m was raised so congratulations to all involved.

As well as more than 20 photos of Kathryn at the event (all HERE in the KM UK Gallery of course) we also have a link to a video by Autism Live where Kathryn and her sons are interviewed on the red carpet. We’ve linked directly to the part where Kathryn enters HERE.

Update: The gentlemen in the photo above, and also several of the photos in the linked gallery, is Johnathon Schaech. He’s an actor and a long standing supporter of autism action. He was in Cold Case episode Libertyville (season 6, episode 19) where he played the murder victim. Johnathon’s wife, Julie Solomon, worked in the business that is show for a number of years, primarily as a location coordinator, but seems to be an ‘influencer’ now. They have two children.
