Cold Case Cast Catch-up – January 2019

tracie_thoms_001_430x180The early new year period is always likely to be a bit quiet on the show business news front, but we’ll find a way to push through.  It’s January 2019 and this is the latest of KM UK’s round-up of news about the Cold Case cast and their on-going careers.

Let’s start the year as we will almost certain continue it: by discussing Tracie Thoms (Kat Miller in CC) first of all.  Looks like we have some evidence of a new project Tracie is lined up to be involved in.  It is a film (I think) called 10-13 (the police code for shots fired) and is in pre-production with writer/director David Zayas.  David will be known to many of you for his acting work in things like Dexter (he was cop Angel Batista in the show).  Amazingly, I’ve found an interview from 2012 where David talks about undertaking the daunting task of translating 10-13 to the screen having written it as play for his own theatre company.  It shows how long these things can take.  Confusingly, that interview primarily talks about a film he was called 13, an American remake of a 2005 Georgian movie called 13 Tzameti (which is Georgian for 13).  Tracie is listed as playing ‘Captain Romero’, alongside Richard Kind (Spin City) and Mekhi Phifer (ER).  Despite more than 7 years having passed since this project was first mooted, it is still early days.  One for us to keep an eye as the year progresses.

It’s the first post of a new year and we’re already having to hark back to previous years.  Last January we talked about the drama series Gone, which starred Danny Pino (Scotty Valens in CC) as an FBI agent, getting a release in Germany.  In these days of global simultaneous releases and instant access to whole seasons Gone has… gone… a different route.  Despite being something of a pan-global production release dates were sparse.  Australia got the ball rolling in November 2017.  A première for it’s home country has finally been made known.  Feb 27th on the WGN America network is the date.  9pm is the time.  There are 12 episodes of the NBCUniversal produced series.  Leven Rambin (The Hunger Games) and Chris Noth (The Good Wife) co-star.  Speaking of global releases I’ve just noticed that Mayans M.C., the sort of prequel to hit series Sons Of Anarchy, starts on BBC2 in the UK on Saturday (2nd Feb) night with 2 episodes back-to-back.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATHRYN!

banner_177_800x376_dianekmfanHappy Birthday Kathryn!

From all your fans at KM UK

Every so often one of those special birthdays comes around.  One that is seen as more significant than others.  Today is one of those days.  It’s Kathryn’s birthday!  What did you think I was going to say?  I would never!

Having been in Reverie, we hope that Kathryn is in a reverie today of all days.

As has become tradition here on KM UK we like to mark such a special occasion with some fan-created artwork.  Uber-fan Diane (who recently celebrated her own birthday) has kindly supplied us with the image above.  She drew from promotional images of Kathryn’s appearance in the TV show Reverie to give us the banner seen above.

This new picture joins the many hundreds of wallpapers, banners, avatars etc. that can be found KM UK fan art gallery. All contributions, on any or no topic, are welcome.  Contact me if you’d like to see your works of art included.

Cold Case S01E13 – The Letter Promo Update

promo_003In last week’s update for ‘Glued’, we mentioned things were getting a bit personal between Lilly and Kite.  This week it’s more professional, but really it’s about the personal.

We have just one updated promo image from ‘The Letter’, episode 13 in season 1 of Cold Case.  You can see the picture above and the new, much larger sized version in the Gallery.  It was 15 years ago today that this one first aired.

You think 2004 is along time ago?  The case they re-opened was nearly 65 years old back then, and involved the murder of a young black woman in August of 1939.  And that isn’t even the oldest crime they looked at.  Assumptions by the police at the time about the victim probably made them even less inclined to investigate.  You’d like to things have changed a lot since then.

To do posts like these I need a few helpful reminders about each episode.  A very useful resource to jog the memory is the fan-created Cold Case Wiki on the Fandom website (the link is always in the list on the left of this site).  There is a huge amount of information about the show in general, the episodes, the cast (including guests) and crew, and much more.  It is constantly being updated.  Go check it out.  I’d like to think that my little site has helped the editors there at times too.

Cold Case S01E12 – Glued Promo Updates

s01e12_promo_005Cold Case gets a little personal.

We return to our current series of posts bringing image updates to old episodes on the original air-date, albeit 15 years after the fact.  January 18th, 2004 was when episode 12 of season 1 of Cold Case was first broadcast in America.

‘Glued’ is about an old case of John Stillman’s.  He didn’t solve it when the murder happened in 1980.  The impending birth of his grandchild has stirred some things up for John.  On Lilly’s side, things are also stirring as she takes a very, very small step with Kite (insert one-eye/cat/tripod joke here).  Perhaps ‘unglued’ would have been a better title.

Five new promo images from this episode are now in the KM UK Gallery.

Colony S1 Gets ‘Pick’ed Up

colony_banner_2880x1260
I’m going to state up front that I am not sure if this is a new thing or not.  I may have not noticed this before because I haven’t been keeping a close eye on such things.

Tomorrow (15th Jan) Pick TV in the UK is showing the USA Network sci-fi-ish drama series Colony from episode one.  It starts at 10pm.  This could very well be a première for the channel.

Pick is one of Sky Televisions many channels, it used to be called Sky 3, and is available on the British free-to-air Freeview system as channel 11.  The schedules are largely made up of slightly older show repeats.

For those that haven’t been paying attention, Colony involves a near future Earth that has been invaded by an alien force.  They have contained what is left of the human population inside massive walled city ‘colonies’.  People are largely free to go about their lives but are under constant surveillance and will be banished to ‘The Factory’ for disobedience.  The show focuses on one particular family headed up by Josh Holloway (Lost) and Sarah Wayne Callies (Prison Break).  She runs a bar in Los Angeles and he is an ex-FBI agent recruited by the ‘powers that be’ as part of a human law enforcement team working on behalf of the aliens to root out rebellious elements.  Only, he’s not entirely loyal to his employers.

We only really covered season 1 here on KM UK because that is the one Kathryn starred in.  Her character of Charlotte Burgess, the wife of a Adrian Pasdar’s (Heroes) ambitious (and keen to stay alive) politician, was in just 3 episodes (plus a few ‘previously on’ flashbacks).  We have lots of Gallery content to enjoy.

Colony first aired in America in very early 2016 and came to the UK on Sky 1 in April of that year.  A DVD release came not too long afterwards.  Since then the show has had two more seasons, with a major shift in setting for the 3rd, but it was cancelled last summer.
