Hopefully you noticed that last week there was no new entry in KM UK’s Summer Of HD for Reverie‘s 3rd episode. You did notice, right?
Unfortunately Kathryn wasn’t in ‘No More Mr Nice Guy’, but, as we got to see in ‘Blue Is The Coldest Color’, there is something of Miss Nice Lady in Monica Shaw.
The story in this one was an interesting twist on the normal. The protagonist is crippled by anxieties and can’t leave his house. He’s using a stolen Onira Tech (the VR company the show is set around) implant so he can immerse himself in worlds of his own making. The one highlight of his real life is seeing the little girl and her mother from next door. They are sort of friends, despite his issues. Poor guy right? But he’s using the VR to try and do a good thing to help the little girl, who it turns out needs unobtainable medicine. The guy isn’t using the tech to escape his own existence but to over come debilitating fears and to help someone else.
How can Sarah Shahi’s Mara and the team not help him? Even DoD hardcase Monica can see a little way past possible new money making uses for the VR to the good it can do.
As well as the expected new set of full HD (1080p) screencaps from episode 4 of Reverie that are now in the KM UK Gallery, there are also improved sized versions of the two promotional photos (see below). Apart from the limited number, what’s not to like about that?
Week of two of KM UK’s Summer Of HD 2019 brings us predictably enough to episode 2 of the series Reverie.
Kathryn as Monica Shaw made a similarly brief appearance as in part one but she was less enigmatic. Totally by chance, you understand ,-) Monica and Charlie (Dennis Haysbert) bump into Mara (Sarah Shahi). You get the impression that very little happens in Monica’s world that isn’t in her control.
As well as helping to prop up the infrastructure (see above) we also get a wonderful reprise of the sunshine that is Kathryn’s smile (see below left).
No new/updated promo photos this time but we do have a new set of full HD (1080p) the episode titled ‘Bond. Jane Bond’ in the KM UK the Gallery.
“Previously on…” April’s CCCC-up was looking like a struggle to find anything to post about. We did OK though. That’s nothing compared to this month. Yes, May 2019’s news round-up from the careers of the other members of the Cold Case cast could well be slim pickings indeed. Read on.
Much of the news we report on regarding Tracie Thoms (Kat Miller in CC) is not about her work in front of the camera, but her work treading the boards. It has been announced that Tracie will be taking to the stage again at the end of June will star in Working: A Musical. The show is based on a 1974 book by Louis “Studs” Terkel and looks at every day workers and what that work means to them. Helen Hunt (Twister) is amongst the cast and Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton) has contributed two new songs to the updated production. The New York City Center hosts the musical for 4 days from the 26th of June. The afternoon performance on the 29th will be followed by a Q&A by the cast and crew.
As mentioned last month Tracie reprised her guest starring role in the Fox network emergency service drama series 9-1-1. Contrary to some sources the show, as reported on KMUK last time, aired on the 13th of May. Looks like her character (Karen) and her wife (Aisha Hinds’ Henrietta) had a major family decision to make.
In John Finn (John Stillman in CC) news last month we linked to the first trailer released for the new Showtime series about the late Fox News creator Roger Ailes. Due for a June 30th start, a second more lengthy trailer has been made available. No sign of John in this one either. His role is likely to be quite small, and if the info on IMDb is accurate he may only be in the first episode. The show has lots of big names in it including Russell Crowe (A Beautiful Mind), Naomi Watts (Tank Girl), Seth McFarlane (American Dad), and Sienna Miller (Layer Cake). View the new trailer HERE.
Apertus Summerus HDus
I’m sure the Harry Potter fans amongst you can do a lot better than me.
A cliché it may be but starting at the beginning just feels so right. ‘Apertus’ was the name of the first episode of the far too short-lived NBC sci-fi-ish VR-based drama Reverie.
The show starred Sarah Shahi (Person Of Interest) as an ex-hostage negotiator brought into a virtual reality tech company to help with some problem customers. She’s not there to sort out a compensation deal or write an NDA. No, Mara needs all her persuasiveness and empathy to encourage VR users so caught-up in the fantasy world they’ve created for themselves to leave. Their reasons are varied and complex so it is up to Mara and other members of the team to do the detective work IRL and in VR.
Kathryn’s Monica Shaw works for the Department Of Defence, not surprisingly interested in the ability to put people in life-like VR, has her own agendas, and involved herself in the company.
We didn’t get to see much of Kathryn in this opening episode but got to see that wonderful smile in the short time we had in her company. A much missed highlight of any show.
Now available in the KM UK the Gallery is a new collection of full HD (1080p) screencaps from ‘Apertus’.
How long has it been since we did a proper Summer Of HD, KM UK’s series of gallery updates? Years, to be sure.
To mark the anniversaries of the various Reverie episodes we will be bringing you new and exclusive full HD (1080p) screencaps, and some larger promo photos. In a few instances the promo photos are massive! Huge I tell you! Well worth waiting for.
As the first episode of Reverie aired on the 30th of May last year we will start there. Join us on Thursday.
