Cougars, Inc. Review

Cougars_Inc_1080p_347DVD reviews for Cougars, Inc. are starting to become quite wide spread online ahead of the US release next week (10th of May) so it is about time for me to post mine.  I’ve tried to avoid falling into the trap some reviews do of being little more than a description of the film with a few comments tacked on the end.  I have done a plot summary but that is followed by something more akin to a review.  Not having access to preview copies of the US release this is based on the European DVD & Blu-ray that became available a couple of weeks ago under the name of Loverboys.  The US version will vary slightly by having some additional extras (a cast commentary that includes Kathryn and a deleted scene that doesn’t) but the movie itself will be the same.

I shouldn’t need to add a spoiler warning but if you don’t want to know anything about this movie before watching it yourself you should not read any further.

Cougars, Inc. May Not Tour – Update

24 hours after Asher Levin announced the Cougars, Inc. screening tour and with less than 24 hours to go before it was due to start the first event has been called off.

The Boston event Facebook page has been updated with the word “CANCELLED” in its title though the time and location information remain.  The description has been removed but more ominously the details, what few there were, of the other planned events have been removed.  So much for May.

At the time of writing no explanation has been given.

Update: The Facebook event page for the Boston event has been removed.  Still no explanation and no sign so far of information about any other events.

Cougars, Inc. US Tour Dates Announced

Asher Levin has finally published details on the Cougars, Inc. Facebook page of the US screening tour he’s been promising since late March would happen throughout April.  He’s left it until the last minute too.  The first event on this roadshow is tomorrow (4th May 2011) at the Woodward At Ames restaurant in Boston, Massachusetts.  It is not clear who from the cast will be attending the event.

Other than Boston the cities the tour is listed as visiting and the dates known so far are:

  • Miami, FL on 6th May
  • New York City, NY on 9th May
  • Salt Lake City, UT
  • Austin, TX
  • Las Vegas, NV
  • Scottsdale, AZ
  • San Francisco, CA

As you can see not all the dates have been confirmed or venue details given.  The short time between the 3 dates we do have suggests that the whole process will be done in a less than a month.  With the DVD and Blu-ray versions of Cougars, Inc. due for release on 10th of May in North America it makes sense for this be more of a promo tour for that.

So much for April.  On the day the Austin, Texas screening was due to happen (7th April) Asher told me via Twitter that they’d be in the city later in the month.  It was as though the Maggie Mae’s party was never really on, despite evidence suggesting it was originally going to hold the première.

Update (10th May 2011, 7:45BST): The Boston event was cancelled.  The Miami event was disrupted by bad weather.  The New York event didn’t happen at all, with no explanation by anyone.  It appears that Asher Levin was actually in New York over the weekend for a music video shoot though.

It Was A Year Ago Today

Cold Case title imageAs IcyWinter has just reminded us in a comment in the previous post it is a year ago today (2nd May 2010) that CBS aired the final ever episodes of Cold Case in the USA.  A minute’s silence please.

Vote Kathryn

51st Monte Carlo TV Festival LogoWe’ve frequently been able to see that the French people appreciate Kathryn very much, a sentiment we certainly concur with :-)

Further proof of this is the French TV network TMC and magazine Télé 7 Jours giving viewers a chance to vote for the “actress and actor of the most glamorous series of 2011”.  This includes Kathryn for Cold Case, presumably she is eligible because new episodes of CC are still being broadcast.  In some way this is connected to the annual Monte Carlo Television Festival due to happen in early June, an event that Kathryn has attended several times in the past.
