Moneyball Out On DVD Today In UK

blu-ray_001Moneyball finally makes the conversion from Dollars to Sterling  :-)

Short of a “directors cut” release, or Kathryn’s other scenes that hit the cutting room floor finding their way out into the open via some other means, this is likely to be our last post about Moneyball.

Today sees the UK home release of the movie, based on the book by Michael Lewis, that tells the story of the Oakland Athletics (the “Oakland As”) baseball team and their attempts to break the mould.  In a sport dominated by money and those with lots of it, how can a small team with very little (in comparison at least, they had still had millions after all) compete.  By thinking outside of the box.

Hitting American cinemas in September 2011, the UK got it’s first showings in November.  The DVD and Blu-ray versions were shelved (as in put on the shelves :-) ) in American stores in January this year.  As the US Blu-ray was region free it is very likely that the official UK version will be identical to it.  The descriptions of the extras certainly looks the same so UK shoppers should get to see one of Kathryn’s scenes with Brad amongst the deleted set.  The DVD may vary though, despite the film to PAL video conversion being done more simply than from film to NTSC.  In the past extras such as interviews have often been done on video, which complicates the conversion (NTSC to PAL) so they drop them.  In these days of every thing being digital that may no longer be the case.

Moneyball received many award nominations, mainly for Brad’s acting and Aaron Sorkin/Steve Zaillian screenplay, and won several but missed out on a coveted Oscar.  However, congratulations to all involved.  I doubt anyone expected a movie, especially a sports movie about a small team, that went through a lot before it even got made, would go on to become such a success.  They should make a movie about it…  Oh, hang on!  :-)

Thank you to Moneyball for giving us so much to talk about this past couple of years, it is just a shame that we ultimately had so little to show for it.

Today’s the day that the Revival House (Kathryn’s new production company) trademark reaches the end of its “opposition” period.

People have had the last 30 days to register any queries over trademark serial number 85414167 covering the use of the name Revival House in the area of “Entertainment, namely, production of television shows and motion pictures”.

Hopefully things have passed off without a problem and can now move forward to the next stage.  As noted previously, the mark has to be used within the next 6 months and the USPTO notified of that.

We will, of course, let you know as soon as we have more news on the subject.

Cold Case S04E04 – Baby Blues Full HD Screencaps

Cold_Case_S04E04_lilly_011Last year’s KM UK Summer of HD covering season 4 of Cold Case had a few gaps in it.  One of those gaps was episode 4, Baby Blues.

The PPD’s ME, Frannie, makes a rare appearance in this one, nearly her last in fact.  Frannie brings an old case to the squad regarding the death of a 6 month old baby.  As if this case bringing up some issues related to her own neglected childhood aren’t enough, Lilly has to contend with ‘motorcycle man’ Ray playing the old ‘I’m in hospital’ card.  What a rookie move, it’s the oldest trick in the book.  Worked though  😕

Lilly’s hair-do falls into the the just got out of… the rain style this episode 😉

197 Full HD (1080p) Lilly screencaps from the episode can now be found in the Gallery.

Kathryn @ Fred Claus Première – November 2007

fred_claus_78It’s early March 2012 so what could be more appropriate than photos of Kathryn attending the première of the movie Fred Claus in November 2007  :-)

We return to our look back of Kathryn’s public appearances in 2007.  It’s not a festival.  It’s not motor racing.  It’s not even related to Resurrecting The Champ.  It did involve promoting a movie though, just not one she actually starred in, so we’ve not strayed too far from our recurring themes :-)

Kathryn looks great in her simple jeans, t-shirt, jacket and back ensemble.  Throw in an equally understated makeup finish and you’ve got near perfection.  Such a natural beauty.

To add to the 63 photos we already had there are 14 more mixed-sized photos in the Gallery.

Resurrecting Resurrecting The Champ

rtc_stills_04There’s been a theme to recent photo updates of Kathryn’s public appearances in 2007. One of those themes has been promotion for the film Resurrecting The Champ.  But what of the film itself?

Well, we have updates about that too :-)

rtc_stills_05Remember the really fantastic and really huuuuuge image of Kathryn in jeans, sitting on the steps looking at some bits paper with Josh Hartnet hovering  near by?  Aha!  Caught you out!  No, the image above is not the one you remember.  It’s a new, previously unseen variation on that image with Josh also sitting down.  Kathryn is in a near identical pose but the angle of the shot is further around to the front.  Unfortunately, the photo is not quite as huge as the previous one :-(

The photographer must have thought that the new angle was better and concluded that even more would be even better still.  He was right!  It’s the same pose again but we get to see a whole other side of the loveliness.  The only other ways to describe the image are… on the right and tragically small :-(

We’re not done yet.
