KM UK Chat Page Poll

There has been a trial Chat page or two on KM UK now for over a week so I thought it was time to get some feedback on the options we’ve seen.

The very first one, which we’ll call Chat 0, was OK but I had some concerns about the way it was going to work longer term and the lack management tools.  On the plus side it did have a sort of Login option and used Gravatar avatars for each person when available.  It was relatively easy to make some cosmetic adjustments to give a better layout.  It had a sound notification of new posts but no automatic scrolling.

That was quickly followed by Chat 1.  A definite improvement in the way in the way it handled comments in terms of spam protection and management but did suffer from a few false positives.  Cosmetic tweaks had it looking like it belonged on KM UK.  The chat was paged rather than a continuous list, which had its pluses and minuses.

Chat 2 is, in many ways, much like Chat 0.   Similar in layout but it has some filtering and management options that Chat 0 didn’t have.  The comment handling lacks a little compared to Chat 1 though.  There also appears to be a performance issue with the Safari web browser, including that found on the iOS (iPhone, iPad & iPod touch).  Sound notification and auto-scrolling are both options.

Chat 1 and Chat 2 are both available for testing.  They are both listed in the menu on the right, for now.

Now is the time to decide which way we’re going to go with it.  Chat 0 was quickly replaced with the superior Chat 1, so that is not an option, but number 2 is still in the running.

So, which chat would you like to see KM UK keep?  Or do you want it scrapped completely?

Fan Art Update – August 2012 Part 1

banner_127_443x149_dianekmfanIn the style of Cold Case we’re having one our occasional single artist fan art updates.  In fact it is going to be a two parter as well.

This month we are showcasing the work of relative newcomer to us here on KM UK who goes by the name of dianekmfan.

Familiar to some of you as an administrator of the French Cold Case Hypnoweb site, dianekmfan has been kind enough to allow us to share a large number of her banners and wallpapers with you.  Such was the number that not all have been posted in this update.  The rest will be posted next week in part 2.  As they say: To be continued…

Kathryn On Set Of Confections – 5th Photo – 600th Post!

on_set_20120605_002Slowly, slowly, catchy monkey.  Confections is proving to be a slow burner.  One photo at time.

The above photo (see it in full in the Gallery) shows Kathryn and other cast members actually in the process of filming a scene.  We’ve previously seen Kathryn wearing that outfit so it helps narrow down when happened.  That and the date on the at the top of the image :-)  It was the 5th of June 2012.

As per the extra bit on the end the headline this is the 600th post on KM UK.  The site is a few weeks short of 1200 days old so we are maintaining our average of a post every 2 days.

Cold Case S01E11 – Hubris HD Screencaps

Cold_Case_S01E11_lilly_236Hubris writers Kim Newton and Stacy Kravetz appear to have taken a leaf from Veena Sud’s book on episode titles.

College professor Roy Minard (Jeffrey Nordling, 24 and Body Of Proof) asks Rush to clear his name after being accused of murdering a student.  With that title, and applying the normal Cold Case “the most recognisable guest star probably did it” rule, who do we think is the mostly likely suspect?  Hubris indeed.

It makes for quite a twist on the normal storyline but it is rather overshadowed by the scene pictured above.  Rush’s trashcan can-can (not a great description but I had to use the phrase :-) ) is a joy to behold.

It’s Happened Again – Fake KM Twitter

Early on Saturday morning (UK time) another “Kathryn Morris” Twitter account was created, this time it was @_KathrynMorris.  We’ll call her “Kathryn 2”.

It looked reasonably plausible, with a photo and bio, but then so did the last one we dealt with, the now defunct @KathrynMorris_ account.

Myself and another fan, KM UK regular Kathy, conversed with “Kathryn 2” a little and I did so in private messages as well.  As before I was reserving judgement on “Kathryn 2” until I had more information to go on.  This was likely to take a few days.  Sadly, I’m not going to get that opportunity now as “Kathryn 2” suddenly closed the account, just hours after creating it.

The abrupt closure is probably a sign in of itself that the account was a fake.  The claim in the private chat of a big movie role to be announced soon should be taken with a large pinch of salt too.  Thanks to dianekmfan, another KM UK regular, for pointing out issues with the language “Kathryn 2” was using.  It was odd for a native English speaker and certainly a mark against it but we didn’t get the definite proof we got last time (when the perp dropped a real clanger when claiming where “Kathryn” was at the time) though.

Taking it all into consideration I think that it is safe to say that it was fake.  Such a shame that we didn’t get to expose it as such before that.

At least this time the faker had the good sense to stop before it went any further.  Why they didn’t apply that good sense before hand and not start it in the first place we might never know.

The thing that really puzzles me is to why someone would do this?  Based on the information they had I can only assume that they would say they are a fan of Kathryn.  Personally I don’t think that they should call themselves that.  No fan of Kathryn would try and do this to other fans.  This, for want of a better word, ‘person’ has now lost the right to take that moniker.  “Kathryn 2”, you are no fan of Kathryn!

I think some KM admirers totally hate you.  I am sure that some of them would like to find out who you really are.  Me?  I’m not angry or upset.  I’m disappointed.  Disappointed in the person behind this lie.
