Cold Case v2.0 Case Closed

CC_Titles_16Sadly, it seems that much like the ghosts at the end of each episode, the possibility of a new version of Cold Case is fading.

The TV Line website, picking up on the briefest of mentions on a Deadline site wrap-up of CBS-related news, is reporting that the Cold Case reboot is not going forward.  We posted about the project being in development back in April.

There was never any definitive news on the project but the talk was of a new location and cast with original creator Meredith Stiehm back script writing.  Danny Pino was rumoured to have been contacted about reprieving his role as Detective Scott Valens.  Kathryn was not similiarly referred to but you would have think that would have been a target for any new production.

A large number of TV show projects are in various stages of development all the time.  Most don’t get made.  Cold Case was a strong enough premise, with good writing, acting, and a different tone to so many cop shows.  It was one of the lucky ones.

It is interesting to note that the initial April report on Deadline about this new show being developed is one of the most commented on stories they’ve had in a long time.  Few articles since have come even close to it.  That clearly indicates the love for Cold Case and the wish to see it revived.

Kathryn To Attend Hollywood Show Convention

hollywoodshow_banner_720x207Thanks to AJ for passing along the tip that Kathryn is due to attend a fan convention event in Los Angeles in October.

The Hollywood Show has been around a long time, having first started in 1979, and now hosts multiple events per year mainly at the Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel in LA.

Kathryn was recently added to the list of around 70 celebrities from many eras and genres of the entertainment world that will be at the next scheduled convention.

The event will be on Friday and Saturday the 18th-19th of October, running from 4pm-8pm on the Friday and 10am-6pm on Saturday.  Though it is up to the individual star the hours they do and there will likely be fees.

It is not entirely clear to me how these events run but I would presume you get to do meet & greets, get autographs, and have photographs taken with your celebs of choice.

Looking at the extensive list of planned attendees it is nice to see that you could have a mini Cold Case reunion as Tracie Thoms was also recently added.  And to really go back into the archives Tim Matheson, who started with and directed Kathryn in the TV movie Hell Swarm, as well as several episodes of Cold Case, is included.  Check the KM UK archives for more on Hell Swarm.

If you are already planning to go this convention or will do so now, please let us know.  We’d love to hear more about it.

Cold Case v2.0?

CC_Titles_16It’s the sort of story that crops up every so often, followed by a chorus of fans demanding something different.

This time the news seems to have a bit more credibility, but has already lead to the alternative demands.

Yes, it has been reported that the American TV network CBS is looking at bringing back Cold Case.  Any such return would be a reboot not a continuation, so a new show with a new cast but with the same basic premise and key features.  New cast means no Kathryn, Danny, Tracie, John, Thom, or Jeremy.  Although, if a new show is set in the same “universe” there is always a chance we may get to catch up with any the original team via guest starring roles.

The original Cold Case creator Meredith Stiehm is said to be heavily involved, as you would hope, writing the script for a show set 15 years later and in the opposite corner (south west) of the US from the original.  Setting it closer to Los Angeles is bound to make production easier.  The regular decamping of cast and crew to Philly to film some of the outdoor scenes for Cold Case must have hit the budget amongst other things.

Keep in mind that even if this new show ever happens, so many don’t make it, we are talking quite a long time away from now.

From Embers Official Trailer Released

from_embers_trailer_2_004The official trailer for the movie From Embers. has been released.

The previously released trailer is marked as a teaser.  This new one is the same length but contains more elements which give hints of significant plot points.  Consider that a standard ‘spoiler warning’ in case you want to go into the movie with less knowledge.

A handful of new screencaps from the video are in the KM UK Gallery HERE.

You can watch the new trailer HERE on writer/director Kate Bohan’s YouTube channel.

Blu-rayseed

bluray_001This is not a joke.  I repeat:  This is NOT a joke.

At time of posting it may be April the 1st (albeit after 12pm in the UK) but as far as I can tell this is genuine.

It is possible to buy the movie Hayseed on high definition Blu-ray disc, for those that prefer a hardcopy instead of the now standard streaming formats.

The movie is on what is effectively a CD-R/DVD-R-type burnable disc, created to order.  Be warned that not all Blu-ray players can play these.  The Xbox One possibly being one device that may not.  PlayStations from 3 to the current 5 should be OK.  YMMV though.

The disc does not appear to be on sale outside of the United States.  However, those with an Amazon account for any of their international stores can use the same login on the US .com version of the website.  There may be issues with shipping to you particular location so please do be aware of that before placing any orders.

You can find the Hayseed Blu-ray release on Amazon (US) HERE.

Another poster image for the film has also been added to the Gallery.
