The gentlemen on left in the photo above is Fabien Mortorell. He’s the director, a co-writer and a co-producer of the short film The Coin. The 9 minute long movie also stars Christopher Lloyd (Back To The Future).
Obviously he is a man of great taste because he chose Kathryn to star in his film (or maybe she has some dirt on him 😮 ) but he is also a very helpful man. “What makes you say that?” I hear you ask. I’ll tell you.
Back in December Fabien very kindly contacted KM UK directly to let us know about a new Facebook page he’s created for the film (we had actually found it already, shortly after it was created ). Not only that but Fabien and Kathryn have allowed KM UK to share with you the set of on set photos posted there. There is now a link to the FB page in the menu on the right.
Twelve, count ’em, photos (and one previous one updated to a slightly larger version) of Kathryn and co. on the set of The Coin are now in the Gallery.
Many thanks to Fabien and Kathryn.
We hope to bring you more news on this project soon.
This IS the broad you’re looking for.
Some of you will have seen this photo recently. Some of you may even have had a good guess at the year it was taken. But wouldn’t you like to know the full details? KM UK uses the force to bring you all the info.
The year was 2007. Kathryn, George Lucas and a host of other stars of stage, screen, magazine and sports arena were preparing to taken part in the annual Toyota Pro/Celebrity race that accompanies the Grand Prix of Long Beach. The event is held to raise money for the Racing For Kids which supports children’s hospitals in Long Beach and the neighbouring Orange County, California. A worthy cause we’re sure you’ll agree.
One of the hospitals to benefit from the fund raising (around $100,000 is said come from the Pro/Celebrity race) is the Miller Children’s Hospital in Long Beach. On Thursday the 12th of April 2007, two days before the race Kathryn, George and a personal Star Wars Stormtropper escort visited MCH. The man in the white plastic suit is Michael Bender, aka TK6682. Michael’s own Facebook page is here.
You can now find the full photo in the Gallery.
We’d like to thank Michael for allowing KM UK to post his photo and for the details of the event, the ladies of the Star Wars Sorority for their assistance and Kathy for the heads-up.
The recession continues to bite around the world and there has been a version of the double-dip in the KM world too. For the second year running there has been very little to work with and that affects the KM UK Awards too.
Last year’s pessimism proved very much unfounded, but the unexpected success at the Olympics by Team GB (and those from Northern Ireland that wanted to join in) has meant the availability of medals has dropped significantly. We were very nearly forced to just use ribbons left over from the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee as awards. Luckily there were a lot unsold “I ♡ UK” souvenir teddy bears left over from the tourist traps outside the Olympic park so we have combined the two to create a very unique award: the “I ♡ KM UK” teddy bear 2013. We’re calling him ‘RichE’ in honour of our fearless leader, it seems very appropriate. Trust us, all the big awards ceremonies like the forthcoming BAFTAs and Oscars (we’ve beaten them again!) will now be kicking themselves for not thinking of this. Look out for the BearFTAs and Bears next year
Kathryn’s film work during 2012 did not/will not see the light of day until this year, making it ineligible for the awards until next year. It’s going to make the 2013 awards tricky to say the least. 2014 should be in much better shape.
Due to budget constraints we can’t afford a big Hugh Jackman-style song and dance number. Or a collection of Ricky Gervais put downs. We can’t even put enough pennies together for Beyonce to mime over the Cold Case theme tune. We will not lower ourselves to using the latest X Factor oxygen thief, which we probably can afford. Instead please just watch a few minutes of Pierce Brosnan singing in Mamma Mia! (their exclamation mark) as it sets the (lack of) tone Don’t make the mistake of trying Piers Morgan *spit* instead. We don’t want him back! Off we go…

After such a busy January focussing on our headline act (that’s Kathryn) we managed to not do a post like this. So, we’ll get one in early for February 2013. It is time for another quick round-up of news on the other members of the Cold Case cast.
The banner image clearly wants us to talk about Tracie Thoms (Det. Kat Miller in Cold Case) first, and we wouldn’t want to go against its will now would we? At the end of January the ever-busy Tracie had a one night stand, that is to say that a feature film she starred in had a single night viewing across the US. Further explanation is clearly necessary. A 2009 (released in 2011) documentary film called One Night Stand: Creating A Play In A Day charting the creation of four musicals in just one day had a special nationwide showing in over 400 cinemas on the 30th of January. Groups of writers, directors, composers and actors created, wrote and rehearsed short musicals. After just 24 hours they had to perform their pieces. Staying with Tracie, she recently had a guest starring role in the already cancelled CW network TV series Emily Owens M.D. Thirteen episodes of the medical drama were produced. All will be aired and that will be that. Tracie was in episode 11, Emily And The Teapot. The lead actress in Emily Owens M.D. is Mamie Gummer. Daughter of a little known actress called Meryl Streep. Mamie will next be seen in the movie The Lifeguard, which brings us to…
