It’s been a long time coming and we could be facing a long five month wait to September to see the results. Sleepless nights are guaranteed but hopefully all the worry and stress during delivery will be worth it.
Earlier this week Rod Lurie, the director of the Surgeon General pilot, Tweeted about having completed the director’s cut of the show. The filming only finished last week so he has done fast work on the edit suite. We don’t know for certain but we imagine that the CBS network chiefs will watch this cut and make a decision either way. Or possibly go a third way and request changes before re-evaluating.
We could be on tenterhooks until the official announcements at the mid-May “Upfronts” to find out whether the show has been picked up to series, but we will probably know before then.
There’s been no further significant news regarding the other pilots competing for CBS airtime being picked up, or existing shows being cancelled to make way for new ones. See the recent article covering that here. We have seen it suggested that the likely cancellation of a comedy or two on the network may free up time for another drama series. Surgeon General is still likely to be fighting it out over just a couple of spaces with 3 or 4 other shows.
Which brings us to the elephant in the room: what impact will the big news of the week have on the show? (no offence Kathryn, you’re glowing of course 😮 )
For the past six years the BBC here in England have broadcast Paycheck every 15 months or so, meaning that we are well over due a showing since it was last on back in August of 2011.
Auntie Beeb is finally putting us out of our misery with a late showing on Friday (12th April 2013) at 23:55. Despite the hour you can still watch Kathryn’s appearance in the John Woo (who also made Broken Arrow) action film, based on a short story by Philip K Dick and starring Ben Affleck (Argo), and be in bed by 12:10am.
Details of the BBC1/BBC1 HD broadcast can be found on the BBC’s website.
Paycheck already features in the KM UK Gallery and you can read a brief write-up of Kathryn’s role in the film in a previous post.
We haven’t used the countdown timer in a while so here is one to the start of the film:
Us Magazine has published an exclusive story that Kathryn and Johnny Messner, her boyfriend of 3 years, are expecting twin babies in September.
“We’re beyond excited and doubly blessed!” the happy couple told Us of their twins-to-be. Morris, 44, is best known for her role as Detective Lilly Rush on the now-defunct hit CBS series, which came to an end in 2010.
The picture is proof enough it is not a made up tabloid story and Johnny has Tweeted about it saying:
Happiest man in the World. 2 Dirty Messner boys on there way!!!! – Link
KM UK wishes all four of them the very best. Let’s just hope they inherit their looks from their mother as well as their brains
The way the weather has been in the UK recently is enough to make you think it is still the depths of winter and not spring as it has been for a few weeks now. Despite that we are already looking forward to KM UK’s Summer Of HD for 2013, which is due to start in early May. Yes, Summer doesn’t start until June be but will have a lot to get through so we will be starting early again.
There is one slight issue we need to settle before then though: we can’t decide which season of Cold Case to create new HD screencaps from. Should it be season 2 or season 3?
Last year we went back to the beginning with season 1. Do we carry on to season 2 or jump ahead to season 3?
We are going to leave it to you, our dear readers, to decide. Use the poll below to register your preference. The winner will be first the past the post. Leave us a comment to explain your choice.
The poll will be open until 12 noon UK time on the 22nd April 2013. In the event of a tied score we will be using the number of votes in the comments as a tie breaker. If that still leaves no winner then the judges will choose one.
Which season of Cold Case should be in the KM UK Summer of HD 2013?
It has been a bit of a wait but we are possibly seeing the first signs of the DVD release of Kathryn’s recent TV movie The Sweet Side Of Life.
The DVD Empire website now has a page for the film, you can see it HERE.
The page lists the release date for the USA, for that is where the DVD Empire site is based, as the 16th of July 2013. Just over 3 months from now. Only the DVD is listed, at the princely sum of $10.81, there is no signs of Blu-ray version at this time. Hopefully that will change.
Accompanying the details is a cover art image, eyes right. As you can see it uses one of the Hallmark promo photos of Kathryn mixed with a New York skyline background. The image is now in the Gallery.
The Sweeter Side Of Life, starring Kathryn and James Best (The Dukes Of Hazzard) is an original Hallmark Channel movie first broadcast by the station back in mid-January in the US, and is being repeated occasionally. Kathryn plays Desiree who is, as the official PR schtick puts it, “a privileged Manhattan housewife of a surgeon who gets a reality check when she’s dumped and sent back to New Jersey to work at her father’s beloved bakery.”
