Summer Of HD 2013 – Season 2 It Is

Two weeks ago we asked you to vote on which Cold Case season should be used as the basis for the KM UK Summer Of HD for 2013.  New HD screencaps from the winning season will be posted over the summer.

The poll has now closed and your votes have been totted up.  Cold Case season 2 is the winner.  It was a close result with 57% for season 2 against 43% for season 3.

Posts covering every episode of that season will begin in a couple of weeks so look out for them.

Hopefully the new images will spark a few memories of your favourite episodes and maybe inspire some new fan art creations that you would allow us to share with everyone here on KM UK.

Thank you for taking part.

The actual results were:

Which season of Cold Case should be in the KM UK Summer of HD 2013?

  • Season 2 (57%, 8 Votes)
  • Season 3 (43%, 6 Votes)

Total Voters: 14

Cold Case Cast Catch-up – April 2013

tracie_thoms_001_430x180Tracie Thoms tends to dominate these updates as she is so prolific and varied in her work.  However, we’ll start with someone else for a change.

First we’ll deal with one of our least talked about Cold Case alumni:  Jeremy Ratchford (Nick Vera in CC).  In the couple of weeks spanning the end of February and the beginning of March Jeremy was involved in a new movie called Death Valley.  Apart from the fact that the main cast members include Katrina Law (Spartacus: Blood And Sand / War Of The Damned), Victoria Pratt (Mutant X), Lochlyn Munro (True Justice) and Kelly Hu (Sunset Beach), and it was filmed in the actual Death Valley (and elsewhere), we really don’t know anything about it.  Oh, except that Jeremy’s character is called Lucas Shore.

And back to Tracie ThomsRaze; a movie starring Zoë Bell (Lost), Rachel Nichols (Resurrecting the Champ, G.I. Joe), Sherilyn Fenn (Twin Peaks) and Tracie (err…); finally gets it’s world première this weekend (Sunday, 21st April 2013) as part of the Tribeca Film Festival.  A trailer for the film was recently released and can be seen on YouTube.  It is not for the faint of heart.  You have been warned.  Three weeks ago Tracie wrapped filming on the Gothica TV pilot for the ABC network.  See our previous post for more details on the show.  Everyone involved now faces the agonising wait until the official announcements about pilot pick-ups.  ABC has had far more of a clear-out of shows than Surgeon General‘s CBS so there is bit more room on the autumn schedules for fresh blood, but the network has s lot of pilots on the books so there are no guarantees.  Update:  Forgot to add that Tracie appeared in an episode of the Person Of Interest in early April.  It was episode 19 of the current 2nd season and was titled “Trojan Horse”.  From the looks of a plot summary Tracie had a significant role as the main ‘person of interest’.

Finally a quick reminder that at the beginning of next month (May 2013) the Texas Chainsaw 3D movie in which Thom Barry stars will be out on DVD and Blu-ray, in the US and UK at least.

Kathryn In Not So Sweet Alice

concept_art_001Website The Inquisitr.com reported yesterday (15th April 2013) that Kathryn has been cast in a lead role in a remake of the 1970s horror film Alice Sweet Alice.

Also, Kathryn’s production company Revival House will be co-producing along with the company that manages her career, Mosaic Media Group.

The original Alice Sweet Alice (aka Communion) was a 1976 film by director/writer Alfred Sole and writer Rosemary Ritvo.  The plot involved the murder of a young girl called Karen and the suspicion that her older sister Alice was responsible.  Further deaths occur and Alice is increasingly thought to be the killer.  It starred Brooke Shields (Suddenly Susan) in her first film role as Karen and Paula E Sheppard as Alice.  Linda Miller (The Mississippi) was Catherine Spages, the girls’ mother.

Kathryn is described as taking the role of the mother, Catherine.

New Jersey born Dante Tomaselli has been working on remaking Alice for some time with a teaser poster being released last October.  He wrote initial drafts of the script and brought in Michael Gingold of Fangoria Magazine to co-write the screenplay. Dante will be directing.  Dante has four feature films to his name, all in the horror genre.  What else could a man called Dante do but make horror films?

It looks like Alfred Sole (now a production designer on Castle) was responsible for getting Kathryn involved.  She agreed to executive produce and brought Mosaic Media Group to the table.  They are, apparently, targeting a cinematic release of the remake.

Dante gave an interview to the Aric Mitchell at the Inquistr website, which is where news of this development first broke.  You can read Aric’s piece in full HERE.  Aric has a lot of connections to the original film himself.

When asked about casting Dante said:

Kathryn Morris will star as Catherine Spages, Alice’s mother. Kathryn was the lead in the CBS series Cold Case and had a role as Tom Cruise’s wife in Steven Spielberg’s Minority Report. She’s like a chameleon — totally versatile. Slips right into a role. Her character in Alice is modelled after the original Catherine Spages, played by Linda Miller. In keeping with the spirit of the original, Kathryn’s character will look and feel similar, strikingly beautiful, perfectly sculpted dark hair, fiercely protective of her children and plagued by deep Catholic guilt.

The casting of the other roles has not yet taken place.

The trailer for the 1976 film, for some reason with the different name of Holy Terror, is included in the article.  It seems to be trying to suggest that Brooke Shields is Alice, and pretty much saying that Alice is the killer.  The first is not true and the second…

What we don’t know at this stage is the timing of the production.  Kathryn clearly has other things to deal with at the moment including babies and a possible TV show due for delivery in September of this year.  If Surgeon General goes ahead with a full season order then it could be next year before she has enough free time to make a film.  It is quite common for actors tied to series to use the short time in the summer between filming seasons to take on other projects like film roles.  These projects can take a while to get off the ground and such time scales are common.

Hopefully we’ll hear more on this soon and can look forward to another very different role for Kathryn, both in front of and behind the camera.  And, it is good to see that Kathryn’s production company Revival House is alive and well.

The trailer and some concept art images are now in the Gallery.

Thank you to Kathy for the heads-up.

Sweeter Side… DVD Pre-Order On Amazon US

dvd_cover_001The American branch of the Amazon website added a page for the US release of The Sweeter Side Of Life on DVD at the end of last week.  You can read it here.

This, as we brought you recently, came exactly a week after the DVD Empire website did the same thing.  Amazon appears to confirm the July 16th release date.

At the time of writing the Amazon page does not include a cover image (right) we saw on the DVD Empire site but there are significant similarities between the listings.  The base price is the same rather specific US$14.93, with DVD Empire offering a $4.12 discount.  Pricing is subject to change of course.

Each site quotes a synopsis of the film which is word-for-word identical including the odd final sentence of  “Faced with found?”  Either they’ve both been fed the same text by the distributor or Amazon has taken the info from its competitor site.

Still no signs of the hoped for Blu-ray version.

UK Cougars, Inc. DVD Released On Monday

dvd_003Just a reminder of a Kathryn-related DVD release here in the UK.

As we’ve covered previously Cougars, Inc. the 2011 Asher Levin movie starring Denise Richards (Wild Things), James Belushi (According To Jim) and Sarah Hyland (Modern Family) amongst others, is due for release at the beginning of next week (Monday, 15th April 2013).

Order from Amazon today (Saturday) and you may very well be able to get it delivered on the release day itself.  Other DVD selling online shops are available.  The film should also be on sale in all good retailers (and some rubbish ones).

Details regarding the contents of the DVD in terms of extras are not known at this time.

Metrodome, the UK distributor, has not made much noise about this release but they do have their own version of the trailer on YouTube.

You can read KM UK’s review of the film here and see all Cougars, Inc. posts here.
