Cold Case S02E02 – Factory Girls HD Screencaps

Back before the days of equal rights for women in the workplace many women took on very important jobs on farms and in factories. It was part of the war effort in the 1940s. Men of working age were sent off to fight, leaving the women to fill in. Quite why things had to return to ‘normal’ afterwards is a mystery.

Factory Girls, episode two of Cold Case‘s second season, is about the death of one such lady in at munitions manufacturer in 1943. Was the guilty party one of the other ladies in a jealous rage, an embittered man not fit to fight for his country, a rival arms maker trying to close the factory, or does Lilly uncover a massive “BigArmour”conspiracy aimed at harming America’s war effort? It’s safe to say it is probably not the last one.

One of the guest stars in this episode is Jenna Fischer who went on to star in the US version of Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s TV series The Office. Coincidently the show reaches the very end of a 9 series long run later this week.

Sunday’s Mother’s Day Mother’s Day Sunday

For some of the world today (12th May 2013) is Mother’s Day. Many places have taken the American ‘Hallmark holiday’ and applied it to existing celebrations of mothers and motherhood at other times of the year. In the UK for example we have Mothering Sunday (usually called Mother’s Day) back in March. Why do you make your mothers wait an extra two months? Meanies

In a great bit of timing production company Titan Pictures Media (TPM) has given us the perfect excuse to mention for the first time in a while the short film Kathryn made in 2011: Sunday’s Mother. TPM produced the short about a boy (Chase Ellison as Sunday) and his mother (Kathryn as Gillian) moving to a new area. Sunday is bullied by someone claiming to have a secret about his mother.

The company has relaunched their website, which now prominently includes the show reel for the film’s director Aaron Jackson. In the 5 minute long collection of clips there are some bits from Sunday’s Mother not previously seen in the trailer or the short excerpt that KM UK exclusively brought to you last year. The new site also includes said trailer and promo photos we’ve seen previously (here, here, here and here).

Surgeon General – Still In The Waiting Room

The last few of days has seen a slew of announcements about the TV shows that will be on-air later this year in America.

News of the cancellations and pilot pick-ups across the various US TV networks have given us a pretty clear picture of how their autumn seasons will look. Only a few question marks remain and most of them involve CBS.

So far CBS have announced four new comedies and only two new dramas. The expectation would be for one or two more drama at least. The lack of announcements has been surprising with things like the additional NCIS spin-off, generally considered a safe bet, not being mentioned either way.

In all the speculation Surgeon General (the pilot Kathryn starred in) has hardly been referenced at all, not even as a show we are waiting to hear about. It is difficult to no whether that bodes badly for Surgeon General or if it is still in the hunt. CBS clearly have some additional announcements to make prior to their Upfront event this coming Wednesday.

Days As Good As This Are In The Minority

It is not often that examples of Kathryn’s work get aired on the main TV networks here in the UK. When they do we try and make a bit of fuss about them here on KM UK. Two on one day is almost unheard of, even if one them is just about the smallest guest starring role possible.

This Saturday (11th May 2013) those in the UK can get a double dose of Kathryn booking-ending the day. For this reason we are calling Saturday British Kathryn Morris Day. Of course on KM UK every day is a KM Day.

Very late on Friday, at 12:50am when it is technically Saturday, Channel 4 are showing the the romdramedy (that’s romantic comedy drama) As Good As It Gets. The 1997 movie starring Helen Hunt (Mad About You) and Jack Nicholson (Batman) is one of Kathryn’s earlier film roles and very, very brief. She’s on screen for less than 10 seconds and has no dialogue. You do get a real sense of the character “Psychiatric Patient” in that time though. She’s a little jumpy. The other 8330 seconds are worth watching too.

To complete the day the BBC dusts off Minority Report for the first time in 13 months. Here Kathryn has a more substantial role, not that that is too difficult in comparison :-), as the wife of Tom Cruise’s main character in this Steven Spielberg directed sci-fi action film from 2002. John (Tom) and Lara (Kathryn) are estranged, a situation caused by the death of their son some years before. Tom works as a police office for a special squad that prevent major crimes (primarily murders) happening with advanced warning from a set of triplets that can see the future. When John is implicated in a murder he goes on the run to clear his name.

So that’s 00:50 on Channel 4 and 23:50 on BBC1 this Saturday. If you can, enjoy British Kathryn Morris Day UK.

Cold Case S02E01 – The Badlands HD Screencaps

What happened to spring? England seems to have jumped straight from from a very long winter to summer. Not that summer officially starts for another few weeks either. It’s so confusing

Here on KM UK we’re going to make sure it is a long, hot summer with our Summer Of HD 2013. Long because we are covering the whole of Cold Case season 2 (as chosen by our readers), and hot because… well that shouldn’t need explaining 😉

Let’s start at the beginning with the first episode, titled The Badlands. A boring way to do it perhaps, but sometimes you’ve got to go with tradition. Lilly re-investigates one of her own cold cases and for Jeffries it has a personal element as the triple murder happened in a diner in his old neck of the woods.
