The Sweeter Side On This Side Of The Pond

promo_009Looks like The Sweeter Side Of Life will be getting its first airing here in the UK this weekend.

I’d always assumed it would be the terrestrial station Five (aka Channel 5) that showed the film, they seem to have Hallmark and Hallmark-style movies on often, it is the cable and satellite only Movies/24 instead.

3pm on Sunday (7 July 2013) is appears to be the first showing.  Repeats follow on Wednesday night at 9pm, 3am v.late Wednesday night/v.early Thursday morning, and Thursday night at 10pm.  There is also a Movies/24+ channel which on initial inspection is a +1 hour version but according to the listings it is not that straightforward.  Often it shows different output.  Odd.

Those that have access can find Movies/24 on Sky channel 327 and Virgin Media station 419.

For those in UK that have neither cable nor satellite the American DVD is due for release in a couple of weeks.

Speaking of “the pond” happy 4th of July to our American friends.

Exclusive! Sunday’s Mother

Exclusive!

002You have waited long enough.  It is time for the big KM UK Exclusive.

Ahead of its public release later this month (more on that when it happens), KM UK can bring you the full version of Sunday’s Mother.  Only a select few have so far been able to watch the whole of the 14 minute long short film starring Kathryn, Chase Ellison, Brian Norris and Riley Smith.

In recognition of the support this site and its viewers gave to the project from the fund raising onwards, the writer and director Aaron Jackson has very kindly granted KM UK special permission to show you his work.  A very big thank you to Aaron and the production team of Sunday’s Mother for allowing us this access.

To view the film, which is hosted on the Vimeo video sharing site, you will require the password.  The password is rogerwaits17

The film can be found on a special KM UK site page HERE.  Follow that link and enter the password at the prompt.  The film contains some strong language and “adult themes”.

Filmed in the summer of 2011 Sunday’s Mother tells the story of Sunday (Chase) and his mother (Kathryn), a recent divorcee, who have just moved to a new home.  A bully (Brian) threatens to expose a secret about Sunday’s mother.

Aaron is currently working on a new project: the film adaptation of the Jessica Brody book The Fidelity Files.  Filming is due to start next year.  More details can be found on the film’s official website.  We wish Aaron all the best for the future.

Update (11 July 2013):  The password is no longer required.

Cold Case S02E09 – Mind Hunters Full HD Screencaps

Cold_Case_S02E09_lilly_003For one of the first posts of KM UK’s Summer Of HD for 2013 that is actually in what passes for summer in England we have the big one:  Mind Hunters.  First broadcast in November of 2004 it is not to be confused with the film Mindhunters, also starring Kathryn, that was released very slowly across the world during 2004 and 2005.  America didn’t see it until May of 2005.

A regular game you could play with Cold Case was “the famous person did it”.  When a guest star well known from another show or shows takes a role it tends to be a significant one.  You don’t bring out the big guns for a minor part after all.  John Billingsley has done a lot of different shows before (including Touched By An Angel and Six Feet Under) and after (Nip/Tuck, Prison Break, NCIS, 24, Leverage and True Blood, amongst others) but his defining role has to be as Dr Phlox on Star Trek: Enterprise.  It was whilst that was still airing that John put in a particularly memorable performance as George Marks in this (and one other) episode of Cold Case.

A newly discovered headless corpse leads the squad to uncover a possible serial killer.  Could he be right under their noses?  Errr… yes.

A very comprehensive 321 Full HD (1080p) Lilly screencaps and a small promo still from Mind Hunters can now be found in the Gallery.

Cold Case Cast Catch-up – June 2013

tracie_thoms_001_430x180As tempting as it is to let this drift into next month I think we’ll squeeze in a quick one before June ends.

Danny Pino (Scotty Valens in Cold Case) has been nominated for a 2013 Imagen Award it was announced last week.  The Imagens honour Latino actors and the portrayal of Latinos and their culture in film and television.  Danny is nominated in the Best Television Actor category for his role in Law & Order: SVU.  He is up against Benjamin Bratt (Private Practice), Guillermo Diaz (Scandal) and Jon Huertas (Castle).  Danny has been nominated 3 times previously for an Imagen, each time for his work on Cold Case, and in 2010 he won.  Fingers crossed for Danny.  L&O:SVU will be returning to American TV screens on the 25th of September 2013 for the début episode of the 15th season.

Tracie Thoms (Kat Miller on Cold Case) on the other hand has been treading the boards and winning an award, and that was just one weekend in her ever busy life.  I don’t know how she does it.  I’m tired just typing this!  Tracie took part in another 24 hour play event starting the creative process on Friday and performing the resulting 6 short plays on Saturday, all in aid of the Urban Arts Partnership.  The cast of 24 actors including Sasha Alexander (Rizzoli & Isles), Melanie Griffith (Working Girl), Gillian Jacobs (Community), and John Cho (Star Trek) worked with 6 writers, 6 directors and production crews to create the half dozen 10 minutes plays from scratch in just 24 hours.  Well done everyone.  That’s the boards, what about the award?  A short film called A Different Tree, starring Tracie won an American Black Film Festival Award.  The short was in a line up of 5 films in a category sponsored by TV network HBO.  Congratulations to all involved.  As mentioned in the last CCCC-up Tracie will be performing her “Seasons” show on the 28th and 29th of July (a Sunday and Monday) at the Rockwell in LA.  Yesterday she announced she will have Wayne Brady as her special guest.  Wayne will be best known to us on this side of “the pond” as a regular in the British original version of the comedy improvising TV show Whose Line Is It Anyway? back in the the late 1990s.
