The Coin @ Big Bear Lake Film Festival 2013

Director/writer/producer Fabien Martorell has let KM UK know via a Tweet that his short film The Coin has been selected for inclusion in this year’s Big Bear Lake International Film Festival.

Big Bear Lake is high (6750ft / 2060m above sea level) in the hills of southern California, north-east of Los Angeles. The annual festival covers all types of films has been running since 2000 and will on a long weekend late in September (Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd).

The complete list of films due to be screened this year will be officially announced in a couple of weeks but Fabien has given us the news early, as he did for the Palm Springs International Film Fest back in June.

The Coin is a short film starring Kathryn Morris and Christopher Lloyd (Back To The Future). It was filmed last summer and is about a young boy meeting a homeless man at a shop. Kathryn plays the boy’s very stressed mother.

Plush Back

Amazingly nearly 8 weeks have passed since I posted about Kathryn attendance of the 2013 Plush event. No doubt things have progressed a lot in that time with only a few weeks to go now until the big day.

In the time since the final update to the previous post I’ve managed to collect a few more photos and a couple of videos of Kathryn at Plush. You will not be at all surprised to know that they are now in the Gallery.

The image seen above (no. 32) has been upgraded to a larger size and there are 10 new ones. The two videos include “red (or should that be stained based on the event subject?) carpet” interviews. Screencaps have been created of the main interview video.

Update (2 Aug 2013): Additional video added. It is an overview of the show. Kathryn appears a couple of times but is seen and not heard. I could make a comment that would get me into lots of trouble after that 😮 Gadget fans look out for the fun looking self-folding pushchair/stroller. It’s a hybrid with an iPhone dock!

Cold Case S02E13 – Time To Crime Full HD Screencaps

This week’s KM UK Summer Of HD 2013 is Time To Crime and it takes a slightly different approach to the portrayal of the crime from normal.

A gun handed in during an mayor-led amnesty is linked to the 1987 drive-by shooting of a young girl playing in a park with her mother. The squad trace the multi-year life of the gun back from the eventual owner, whose son traded it in for sneakers, to the original source. In between we meet a down-on-his-luck divorcee, a rich kid and his family’s maid. Lives are changed. Eventually one is lost.

Cold Case Cast Catch-up – July 2013

tracie_thoms_001_430x180 Since starting these regular CCCC-up updates it is clear that one person tends to dominate them: Tracie. The sheer number of differing projects she takes on, especially compared to her fellow Cold Case alumni, makes it unavoidable.

Tracie Thoms (Kat Miller in Cold Case), or as we’re going to call her this month, the Award Winning Tracie (AW… T ) has been a busy girl again. She started the July with a trip to Aruba in the Caribbean. It’s a tough life. She was there with actress and stunt performer Zoë Bell (Alias and Django Unchained) promote the Raze movie that seems to have been around for so long now without an actual release. Zoe will be known to some of you, even if you don’t realise it, as Xena: Warrior Princess. Zoë was the stunt double for Lucy Lawless. This means that Zoë worked with Kathryn during her two episodes as Najara. Zoë and AWT spent an evening on a beach in Aruba giving stunt lessons to festival attendees. Cold Case S02E12 – Yo, Adrian HD Screencaps

We are at the halfway mark of KM UK’s Summer Of HD 2013 and Cold Case is wearing its movie reference on its sleeve.

Yo, Adrian (Cold Case season 2, episode 12) has the Silvester Stallone film Rocky all over it, far beyond the title being a quote from it.

The case involves boxers and the world of boxing. The crime took place weeks after the film was released (December 1976). Even some of the locations used for the Philly-based TV show and film are the same. A similar underdog vs. pro theme is used with the story about the death of a boxer shortly after losing badly in a boxing match. One of the characters even goes to see the film in the cinema! The deathbed confession of the match referee causes the case to be re-opened, that’s pure Cold Case.
