The Coin @ LA Shorts Fest

No, it’s not a convention only for those deficient in the trouser/pant* department. Nor does it involve lashing anything to an ‘ort’s fest’, what ever an ort or its fest may be. It’s, and you should probably be sitting down for this, a festival of short films in Los Angeles.

Once again the director/writer/producer of the short film The Coin, Fabien Martorell, has let KM UK know via the modern communication medium that is Twitter that the film has made the selection another film festival. This time it the 17th annual Los Angeles International Short Film Festival.

The Shorts Fest takes place between the 5th and the 12th of September at the Laemmle NoHo 7 theatre in North Hollywood. The exact date of The Coin’s screen(s) is not known at this time. We’ll bring you more when we know it.

Big Push On Official KM Website

As reported here a couple of months ago, the Official KM Twitter feed had a brief moment of conciousness and posted something. At the time we noted that the Official Kathryn Morris website had gone into “Under Construction” mode for a while and returned with little content.

Over night the Twitter feed again woke up, posting various links to the Official Facebook page. Only one worked at the time I checked and it led to a post on the People magazine website about the upcoming birth of Kathryn and Johnny’s twins.

Presumably following on from that friend of this site Kareen_T (thanks again!) spotted that the Official KM website has undergone a further update. It is clearly far from ready for prime time, with layout issues and glaring errors carried over from its earlier incarnation, but it has gained a lot of new content. I’ll be posting more about some of that in the next few days.

The most notable item on the website is the Twins Shower page. It is a Pinterest style page with various images, including illustrations and photos. Taken from that set are the images you see around this post, including a sonagram image (right) taken back in February which is presumed to be a genuine shot of the Morris/Messner twins. The other two images (one of which is huge!) have joined the Us Magazine set, even though they were not used by the publication. They have all now been added to KM UK Gallery.

KM UK’s Summer Of HD 2013 reaches “Wishing” episode 15 of season 2. It’s the heartbreaking story of a boy trapped in the body of young man and those that should be looking after him. A tragedy occurs. Was it an accident? Was it deliberate? Could it have been an act of kindness? But for who?

Lilly and Scotty are still working on their little difference of opinion regarding a very different “act of kindness”.

CBS Summer TCA Party 2009

Or, to give it its full title the ‘CBS, CW, CBS Television Studios & Showtime TCA Party’. Or, to give it a fuller title still, that would be the ‘Columbia Broadcasting System, CBS/Warner, Columbia Broadcasting System Television Studios & Showtime Televisions Critics Association’. But what about the CBS in the middle of that? Do these initialisations never end?!?

The Television Critics Association events take place twice a year to promote new shows across the various networks. The American TV system does seem to be very organised about such things, following a set pattern annually.

If the CBS pilot show The Surgeon General, which Kathryn starred in, had been picked up to series for the fall 2013 season we could very well have seen Kathryn at last week’s Summer TCA. Sadly neither was to be.

Instead we’re going to look back to 2009 for a little Gallery update. I last posted about this public appearance back in 2010 in a wider update covering the same year.

Four years ago Kathryn was not, as far as I can tell, in Pasadena (where these TCA events take place) to push Cold Case specifically. She did attend the after-party as one of the CBS family. These photos are from the red carpet arrivals. Yes, yes, as you can see below the carpet was not red

A conscientious objector who fled to Canada to avoid the Vietnam war is brought to book 36 years later because his girlfriend was found murdered in their flat on the day he left. As usual things are not that simple, especially when matters of the heart are involved

Things were going so well for the Rush sisters. A nice moment one morning: Lil’ offering to take Christina out for dinner on her birthday. The next: halfway through a bottle of wine Christina’s on the receiving end of an angry sister and out on her ear.
