Kathryn @ Bondi Beach – Feb 2008

bondi_beach_06Yes, I know, it doesn’t quite live up to billing :-(

Let’s get the list out the way right now.  Left to right we have:  Summer Glau and Thomas Dekker (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles), Ed Westwick (Gossip Girl), Zachary Levi and Yvonne Strahovski (Chuck), Kathryn, and Jensen Ackles (Supernatural).  Only one of those shows is still going today.

Nostalgia time.  The beginning of 2008 was the time of the writers strike in Hollywood.  TV and movie production was widely shut down.  With the “talent” not able to work a bunch of them were shipped off to Australia by Warner Bros. to promote their shows in the Australasia markets, not for the other reason.

On the 12th of Feb 2008 the stars took a break from interviews at the Icebergs Dining Room & Bar on the south-west tip of Bondi Beach in New South Wales, Australia.  Apparently it is one of the best “nosheries” in Sydney.

Kathryn spent several days in Sydney doing promotional work for Cold Case.  Some great photos from two more events were covered here on KM UK back in September 2010 in an image upgrade.

Photos of Kathryn arriving at Icebergs and the group shot above can now be found in the KM UK the Gallery.  Yes Bruce, she is a right bonza Sheila 😉

Thanks to the Summer Glau Wiki for allowing KM UK to have the group photo.

Cold Case Cast Catch-up – January 2014

tracie_thoms_001_430x180It’s only January and we’re already catching up with the work of the other Cold Case cast members in KM UK’s regular segment I call the CCCC-up.

Lady fighting movie Raze; which stars Zoë Bell (stunt woman on the likes of Grind House), Rachel Nichols (Alias), Sherilyn Fenn (Boxing Helena), and Tracie Thoms (Kat Miller in CC); was released in some theatres and on VOD services (Amazon and iTunes for example) in the USA back on the 10th of January.  It may be available in other territories as well.  As far as I can tell the UK is not one of them.  Amazon UK is showing a DVD release planned for mid-June 2014.  Directed by Josh C. Waller (McCanick), and also starring Doug Jones (Pan’s Labyrinth) and Rosario Dawson (Sin City), is about a group of kidnapped women forced to fight each other to the death in order to save their families members.   Even in that small collection of names there are lots of links.  Rachel was in Resurrecting The Champ with Kathryn.  She is also in McCanick by Josh and with Tracie.  Rosario was in Rent with Tracie.  It’s not what you know… :-)  As reported previously, depending on where you are in the world McCanick (Cory Monteith of Glee‘s last work) is either out already on DVD/VOD, or months away.  Germany gets a DVD première February.  Already on VOD in the USA, the DVD is due in May.  When did these things get so complex?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATHRYN!

wallpaper_249_500x500_kareen_tFrom everyone here at KM UK

Today (28th January) we celebrate Kathryn’s birthday.

A gentleman would never refer to a lady’s age.  She is a very lovely 45 this year 😉

To help mark the occasion some of you have very kindly created some wonderful fan art in what I called “Let’s Do Some Fan Art For Kathryn’s Birthday”, or LDSFAFKB thing :-)

Thank you to Dianekmfan, Kareen T (the creator of the one above) and amei for contributing birthday-themed banners, drawings (including an animated one by Kareen T), and wallpapers.  A few examples are highlighted below.  The complete set can be found in the Fan Art section of the KM UK Gallery.  New fan art is always welcome.  Please contact me if you want to have some of your work posted on KM UK.

Please feel free to leave birthday messages for Kathryn in the comments below.

The Coin Exchanged For Euro

poster_001It has taken a few weeks but we finally get to break in the new year with some new news.

The short film The Coin will be breaking free of its US-based appearances at a new film festival in April.

fenetre_sur_courts_poster_001The Fabien Martorell written/directed/produced-film is, according to a recent Tweet by the man himself, one of the official selections for the “Fenêtre Sur Courts” Festival International du Film de Court Métrage d’Avignon.  Excuse my poor translation but that is something like: “Window on Short” Avignon International Short Film Festival.  Hopefully one of our French readers will be able to do a better job of that and help with any additional translation as required.

As we’ve seen before it looks like Fabien has jumped the gun (or should that be “Guns” based on his current project?) as no specific details about the films showing at the festival or the schedule have been released yet.  As the festival, which will be in only its third year in 2014, happens over three days in early April it will likely be a few weeks from now before we know more.

Often such film festivals have a variety of categories so it would be no surprise to see The Coin screened in the International Film category.  The irony being that ‘friend of KM UK’ Fabien is French.

Congratulations to all involved on the project receiving even more recognition.

PS.  At the time of writing a US quarter (25 cents, US$0.25) is currently worth around 19 euro cents (€0.19).

Kathryn Actually @ The SAG Awards 2004

sag_arrivals_01Hello…

HELLO!

Ah, hello.  You’ve finally dragged your eyes away from the image on the left then…?  You’ve gone again haven’t you?  Damn it!  I knew I shouldn’t have mentioned it.  It is rather captivating though isn’t it?

As promised earlier this week here is an update for the SAG Awards itself in 2004.  It was, as previously discussed, held in late February of that year.

This was Kathryn’s first appearance at the the SAG Awards, which was first held in 1995.

The photo above gives one of the clearest views of Kathryn’s tattoo we’ve seen.  As you no doubt know, although the figure looks like a superhero he is a representation of Kathryn’s late friend, mentor and manager Elliot.  It is not, as the co-host from the Latin American chat show Ya es 1/2 dia en China suggested, “buzz light”.

Along with 22 more red carpet photos we also have some small shots of Kathryn presenting the award for best actor in a comedy.  Her co-presenter is Mark Harmon, star of CBS (which also broadcast Cold Case) drama NCIS and co-star with Kathryn in the movie Never Let Her Go.  And, we have 3 short red carpet videos, including a brief interview.  All that good stuff can now be found in the KM UK the Gallery.

I must make special mention of Alexia of Emilia Fox Online for providing me with the wonderful image above.
