4 down and 1 left to go.
In the last few days the US Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) granted Kathryn’s production company, Revival House, another time extension to file a “Statement Of Use”. Basically, once awarded a trademark you have 6 months to show you are using it. If you are unable to do that in the time you can apply for an extension of 6 months. A maximum of 5 extensions are allowed, giving the owner a total of three years, before the mark is considered abandoned.
The recently reported addition to IMDb of the Alice Sweet Alice remake which is due star Kathryn and be produced by her under the Revival House name does suggest that things are still moving along on that front. As of now there is a year still to go on the Revival House trademark and plenty can happen in that time. If not then a new company name could easily be created.
See you in October for number 5!
The Trademarkia website has all the details.
In mid-May the world famous Cannes Film Festival takes place. This year the 11 days of madness ends on the same day as the the equally famous Formula 1 race at Monaco. Lots of film stars will be adding to the clamour/glamour on the grid that Sunday. Not sure if that is by accident or design. With Bernie Ecclestone in charge you should take nothing for granted. With his money he makes things happen his way.
Speaking of money, cars, the south of France and film festivals… (Now that’s a segue!)
As reported previously Fabien Martorell’s short film The Coin has been selected for screening at the Avignon International Short Film Festival, or as it is known more locally the “Fenêtre Sur Courts” Festival International du Film de Court Métrage d’Avignon.
Avignon is inland, 50 miles (85km) north-west of the coastal city of Merseille. It’s around 100 miles (160km) west of Cannes, which is itself 20 miles (32km) west of Monaco.
The festival starts today (Friday, 4th April) but The Coin will be shown tomorrow at 2pm in a bill of seven films under the title of ‘Competition 4’. Could there be a prize in the offing?
For writer/director/producer Fabien it is something of a homecoming (though I don’t think he will be present) as he is French by birth, but lives in LA these days.
If you happen to find yourself in the south of France this Saturday, pop along to the festival and let us know what it was like.
You can read more details on the festival at the Fenêtre Sur Courts website (in French).
Two years ago the Newport Beach Film Festival saw the première of the short film Sunday’s Mother.
In the upcoming 2014 edition of the California-based event the short film The Coin is being screened, though it is far from its first showing. Another one due this very weekend in France, more on that later.
Fabien Martorell’s film about the young son (Jack Ryan Shepherd) of a very stressed mother (Kathryn) meeting a homeless man (Christopher Lloyd) at a grocery store, will be shown with 6 other shorts in a programme called ‘Short Connections’. The one and a half hour screening is happening at The Triangle, Harbor Boulevard, Costa Mesa, on the Saturday the 26th April starting at 3:45pm.
The other films on the bill include projects from England, Finland and Germany as well as America. Floating Sunflowers starring Anna Chlumsky (Veep) will be getting one of its first airings as part of this collection of short films. Animation The Hungry Corpse voiced by Stephen Mangan (Episodes) and Bill Nighy (Love Actually) is representing for those of us that still put a “u” in colour
The NBFF is celebrating its 15th year and is running a promotional campaign called “15 Years Under the Influence” to highlight the event. As you can see from the colourful banner image above the festival starts on April 24th (a Thursday) and runs for 8 days. More details on the Newport Beach Film Festival can be found on the official website HERE.
Last August was such a happy time in the Morris-Messner household. We were privileged to share a small part of that joy as Kathryn and Johnny let the world know about the new additions to their family. However, KM UK has discovered that things may not be as they appear.
Remember the differences in the details provided in August? Soon after the big event Johnny gave a time of delivery and weights for the two newborns. Four days later the official KM website stated it was 20 minutes later and with greater poundage for each boy. In early September a photo of a baby, apparently called “Ed”, was posted (and swiftly deleted) on Johnny’s Tweeter feed. Back then the discrepancies were put down to errors, misunderstandings and hacking.
Suspicions were initially raised in the later stages of the pregnancy. It was clear from photos taken at the Plush show, the Jerry Bruckheimer Walk Of Fame and book launch events, and others (see left), that Kathryn was too large for her to be expecting only twins. Medical records obtained for this site by an informer known only as ‘A Lil’ Proof’ give a disturbing picture of the pregnancy.
KM UK can exclusively reveal the explanation for all this: Kathryn gave birth to not two babies, but three. Yes, it was TRIPLETS!
But why were we not told about this? Because to do so would make public a terrible secret. A truth they didn’t want the world to know. The third baby, “Ed”, is EVIL!
It all makes sense if we examine the facts:
- The name “Ed” matches a 1995 horror movie called “Evil Ed”.
- The additional, larger weight. Evil babies are heavier.
- Each baby weight starts with a 6. 666. Coincidence?
- The later delivery time. Evil babies are always difficult births.
- The demonic black eyes of baby “Ed” in the deleted Twitter photo.
- The ‘accidentally’ released photo with “Ed” trying to eat Jameson or Rocco.
The shame of harbouring such a monster means they will never admit the truth, but evidence is mounting. KM UK has received reports that since September neighbours have been hearing strange noises coming from Kathryn’s home at all hours of the day. Sounds that have been described as “inhuman”.
Clearly “Ed” has Johnny and Kathryn living in fear but they have have been trying, possibly unconsciously, to ask for help by leaving hidden messages for people to find. The confused weights, the deleted Tweet, etc. etc..
We need to alert the elders to help save Kathryn. Please do what you can but don’t try and contact her or Johnny directly because you might put them at risk.
Update: It will come as no surprise to anyone that this was my annual attempt at a humorous piece for April Fool’s Day. You won’t have been fooled but hopefully you’ve been entertained.
Time for another update on the work of the other main cast members of Cold Case in KM UK’s monthly round up we call the Cold Case Cast Catch-up. Appropriately enough for the time of year this is March’s round-up
The first official trailer for new the movie remake of comedy musical Annie hit the Interwebs in early March (it seems so long ago already). Cold Case star Tracie Thoms (Kat Miller in CC) is in the movie but she doesn’t feature in the nearly 3 minute long promotional video. At least as far as I can see, let us know if I’m wrong. There is some singing, dancing, and the comedy stylings of one Cameron Diaz (The Mask). If you don’t know the story of Annie, and want to keep it that way until the movie is released, then it is probably best to avoid watching the clip on YouTube. Otherwise, go for it. (Question: Why is he wiping the inside of the window of his limo at the end?) Young starlet Quvenzhané Wallis (12 Years A Slave) is Annie. Django Unchained star Jamie Foxxxxxxxxx (delete as applicable) is the business man and mayoral candidate using Annie to boost his popularity, Rose Byrne (Bridesmaids) his assistant. Lilly Rush heart stealer Bobby Cannavale (Eddie Saccardo in CC) is in there too. In the last couple of days Tracie has been promoting another musical production. This time it is on the stage rather than screen and takes her back to her role in Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof. ‘For The Record’ take iconic film scenes and scores from films and recreate them on the stage. Having previously done productions based around movies like Boogie Nights, and the works of John Hughes, the Coen Brothers and Baz Luhrmann; now FTR are trying For The Record: Tarantino. Quentin’s work so often revolves around the music and has been responsible for re-introducing artists and genres to the great unwashed (that’s you and me). It starts tonight (27th Mar) in LA at the DBA (previously Voyeur) and continues on each Thursday to Sunday until mid-May.
Finally some movement on the An Bronntanas, the Irish TV drama starring John Finn (John Stillman in CC), front. More specifically that movement is around 6 months in that direction. No, no, left a bit. You got it! With no signs of a proper announcement, it looks like broadcast of the drama about the crew of a lifeboat with a large ethical quandary on their hands has been moved to the autumn. John’s appearance in the new TV series Believe first aired in the US nearly two weeks ago now. According to IMDb ‘CIA Deputy Director Randall Comstock’ went uncredited suggesting that it was quite small, perhaps reduced in the editing room from the original plan. If you know more about either project please let us know.
To cast our net a little wider for a change, clearly Cold Case is the launch pad for many a global mega-star. A mere five years after starring in a season 4 episode of CC, Jennifer Lawrence went on to massive success in The Hunger Games and it’s sequels (one of which, in 2 parts will be released this year and next). She also did alright with Silver Linings Playbook (she won an acting Oscar for it) and American Hustle. Now, Shailene Woodley, who you will of course know as Amish girl Sarah Gunden in CC episode Running Around has hit the very big time in her new movie Divergent. To the uneducated like myself the premise for Divergent sounds rather similar to The Hunger Games: young woman fighting the system. The fact that Divergent; based on novel by Veronica Roth and starring Theo James (Golden Boy), Kate Winslet (Titanic) and Ashley Judd (Missing); already has sequels in the works shows the film company was very confident of success. Don’t let the other roles the two actresses did after CC fool you though, it was clearly the experience gained from working with Kathryn and the crew that got them job
