Kathryn @ Toyota Pro/Celeb Race Day – April 2007

toyota_race_day_26Oops!  I’m sure that’ll polish right out!  😯

That was from the practise day so no worries.

Three weeks after the training it was race day.  On this day (14th Apr) in 2007 (it was a Sunday that year) Kathryn took part in the Toyota Pro/Celebrity race in aid of the Racing For Kids charity that supports local children’s hospitals.  Last year we brought you a photo of Kathryn and George Lucas visiting one of those hospitals that receives funding a few days before the race.

As well are four more photos from the weekend we have two videos.  One is from the practise day.  The second a longish highlights show covering the race.  Kathryn features multiple times in both videos so try and watch them all the way through.  Find it all in the KM UK Gallery.

Thanks to Jan Wagner at the Automatters website for allowing KM UK to post their photos.

In the race Kathryn finished a creditable 13th out of the 17 taking part.  Not bad on her first ever race.  Dave Mirra (BMX racer) won outright despite coming up through the field from 30 seconds behind with the other Pros Bucky Lasek (X Games winner) and Scott Kelly (drag racer).  Tennis legend and returnee to the event, Martina Navratilova, was 2nd (1st celeb) and Joshua Morrow (The Young And The Restless) was third.  George Lucas continued to disappoint in spectacular fashion by crashing out and taking innocent victim Annamarie Dean (charity fund raiser) with him.  Kathryn and Emily Proctor (CSI: Miami) weren’t able to put the first part of their evil plan into play.  We don’t know if the managed the second part.  Watch the video to find out more.

The 2014 version of the event happened yesterday (13th April) and was won by returnee Brett Davern, who finished 2nd last year.  Brett will be known to Cold Case viewers as Lilly Rush’s half-brother Finn Cooper.  Currently Brett can be seen in the TV show Awkward. (with a full-stop).

Murder, She Wrote: A Story To Die For – Saturday ITV

msw_story_to_die_for_121I’ve posted several times over the years about this post-series Murder, She Wrote TV movie getting airings in the UK.  Up to now all those screenings have been on the sister ITV3 channel.  On Saturday it returns to the big leagues on the main ITV1 channel.  You’ll have to get up early (for a Saturday) to catch it though as it’s a 9:30 start.

In January there was big Murder news as it was reported that the US TV network NBC had decided not to go ahead with making a pilot of a remake after they’d had a re-think.  Isn’t re-imagining the same as re-thinking?  Oscar winner Octavia Spencer (The Help) was signed up as the lead in the re-imagining.

Original Murder, She Wrote star Angela Lansbury was said to be “terribly pleased and relieved” at the news of the project’s cancellation.  Fans of the show seemed largely to be against the idea as well.  A few weeks prior to that, Angela, who in 2014 celebrates 70 years in the business known as “show”, received the Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list for her acting and charity work.  She may have lived and worked in the US for much of her life but Angela is British by birth and holds dual citizenship so can use the attached title of Dame.  Non-citizens can hold the honorary title and are only allowed put the letters after their name.  20 years ago Dame Angela was awarded the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire), which has no title attached, so getting the DBE is a promotion.  The equivalent to the DBE for men is the KBE, or Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire, which gets you a Sir.

A Story To Die For was the second of four TV movies made in the seven years after the series finished its amazing 12 season run of 264 episodes in 1996.  (This post is brought to you by the numbers 2, 4, 7, 12, 264 and 1996, and the letters K, M and U :-) ).  As we know, earlier in her career Kathryn had a small role in one of the last episodes of the final season of the TV series.  The episode title was What You Don’t Know Can Kill You and KM UK covered it HERE.  Hopefully that episode will be broadcast on UK television at some point in the not to distant future.

Kathryn’s role in A Story To Die For is quite significant in its air time and importance to the plot.  Details of the broadcast can be found on the Radio Times website.

Screencaps (such as the one above) from the film can be found in the Gallery.

Golden Coin Wins In France

fenetre_sur_courts_award_295x160The award winning short film has won an award.  Another one.

poster_002As I originally posted back in January, The Coin was screened last Saturday (5th April) at the south of France-based Avignon International Short Film Festival (known better to locals as the “Fenêtre Sur Courts” Festival International du Film de Court Métrage d’Avignon).

The event proved fruitful for the 9 minute-long movie The Coin as the co-writer and co-producer Fabien Martorell took the prize for his other role as the film’s director.

Congratulations to Fabien and everyone else involved in this project for its continued success.

Next stop (that we know about so far) is the Newport Beach film festival in two weeks time.

Revival House Extension #4

revival_house_logo_430x38.gif

4 down and 1 left to go.

In the last few days the US Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) granted Kathryn’s production company, Revival House, another time extension to file a “Statement Of Use”.  Basically, once awarded a trademark you have 6 months to show you are using it.  If you are unable to do that in the time you can apply for an extension of 6 months.  A maximum of 5 extensions are allowed, giving the owner a total of three years, before the mark is considered abandoned.

The recently reported addition to IMDb of the Alice Sweet Alice remake which is due star Kathryn and be produced by her under the Revival House name does suggest that things are still moving along on that front.  As of now there is a year still to go on the Revival House trademark and plenty can happen in that time.  If not then a new company name could easily be created.

See you in October for number 5!

The Trademarkia website has all the details.

Something French For The Weekend?

poster_001In mid-May the world famous Cannes Film Festival takes place.  This year the 11 days of madness ends on the same day as the the equally famous Formula 1 race at Monaco.  Lots of film stars will be adding to the clamour/glamour on the grid that Sunday.  Not sure if that is by accident or design.  With Bernie Ecclestone in charge you should take nothing for granted.  With his money he makes things happen his way.

fenetre_sur_courts_poster_001Speaking of money, cars, the south of France and film festivals…  (Now that’s a segue!)

As reported previously Fabien Martorell’s short film The Coin has been selected for screening at the Avignon International Short Film Festival, or as it is known more locally the “Fenêtre Sur Courts” Festival International du Film de Court Métrage d’Avignon.

Avignon is inland, 50 miles (85km) north-west of the coastal city of Merseille.  It’s around 100 miles (160km) west of Cannes, which is itself 20 miles (32km) west of Monaco.

The festival starts today (Friday, 4th April) but The Coin will be shown tomorrow at 2pm in a bill of seven films under the title of ‘Competition 4’.  Could there be a prize in the offing?

For writer/director/producer Fabien it is something of a homecoming (though I don’t think he will be present) as he is French by birth, but lives in LA these days.

If you happen to find yourself in the south of France this Saturday, pop along to the festival and let us know what it was like.

You can read more details on the festival at the Fenêtre Sur Courts website (in French).
