The Coin’s Scarborough Fare

scarborough_film_festival_935x362As reported late last week the Fabien Martorell short film The Coin will be screened at the Ontario, Canada-based Scarborough Film Festival in a couple of weeks time.

The line-up was announced then but the screenshot_001event timings were not.  The full schedule has now been released so here’s the important bit for any of our readers that can attend.

The Coin will be shown at a screening that starts at 7pm, Saturday, 7th June at the Fox Theatre on Queen Street East, Ontario.

Unlike other festivals that group short films like The Coin together to make a longer presentation, the SFF is pairing shorts with feature length films.  The Coin finds itself following a film called Macondo, a German film by writer/director Sudabeh Mortezai.

The official website HERE has everything you could possibly need to know about attending this, the 2nd running of Scarborough Film Festival.

Cold Case S03E06 – Saving Patrick Bubley HD Screencaps

Cold_Case_S03E06_lilly_058I always have a problem with the title of this episode.  Starting the second word with a ‘p’ always has me wanting to follow ‘saving’ with ‘private’, but I guess that the title is alluding to the Tom Hanks-lead Word War II movie from 1998.  Clever, if a little forced for my tastes.

A combination of the flashbacks including a rookie Detective Rush and the emotional elements around the deaths of a band of brothers (see what I did there?) establishes Saving Private Patrick Bubley as a Cold Case fan-favourite.  In the present (as it was in 2005 when this was first broadcast) Lilly and the squad attend a multiple shooting.  One of the victims is Luther Bubley, a younger brother of Vaughn or died in a similar shooting back in 1999.  That case was one Lilly’s first as a homicide cop, so we get to see her on the case in 1999.  Mother Bubley has only one of her five sons left now.  Can Lilly & Co. solve all four crimes and save young Patrick from a similar fate?  Cue angst.

Spare yourself further heartbreak and checkout this youngest set of 231 HD (720p) Lilly screencaps from Saving Patrick Bubley now in the Gallery.

It’s My Party… 5 Today

Happy Birthday to us! Happy Birthday to us! Happy Birthday to us!

Luckily that cake is huge or we’d be running out of space for all the candles!

It’s traditional when you pass a milestone like this to take a look back.  The way we do that around these parts is to reminisce with stats.  That’s how we roll.  We’re cool like that 😎

This is the current state of play here on KM UK on its 5th anniversary:

  • 890 articles posted (this is 890), one of every couple of days
  • Nearly 4500 comments posted
  • 3000+ hits a day (over 1 million per year)
  • No spam comments, despite 170,000 attempts!
  • In excess of 530 Twitter followers

And in the Gallery:

  • More than 62,500 images an increase of 7000 since this time last year
  • Over 510,000 image hits
  • 1100 albums
  • 630 registered users

Thank you to all our visitors and contributors.

Stay with us as there is plenty more to come on KM UK!

Whilst we celebrate we must not forget that this day in history also marks the passing of one very important to us.  It was on the 18th May 2010 that Cold Case‘s cancellation became a reality.

The Coin Heads North Of The Border

scarborough_film_festival_935x362Another day, another film festival for The Coin.

poster_002The banner above may give you a false impression of where this one happens.  It ain’t in the ‘God’s own country’ North Yorkshire sea side town.  More’s the pity.

No, this time those in the other half of North America get a look in.  On the shore of Lake Ontario, Canada, this Scarborough is the one that’s a district of Toronto.

In early June the Scarborough Film Festival happens for only the 2nd time in its history.  At some point in the 6 day event the short film The Coin is due to receive a screening.  We’ll find out more details next week when schedules are released.

For more details on the film festival check out the official website HERE.

Thanks to writer/producer/director Fabien Martorell for letting us know The Coin was one of the officially selected films.  Let’s hope some of the cast and/or crew take the opportunity to attend.

Insert normal ‘if you go, let us know’ final paragraph here.
