Summer Of HD 2014 – Week 9 Poll

Sanctuary took the week 8 win.

Oh boy!  This is embarrassing! 😮

After 8 weeks of polling we’ve put every episode from season 3 of Cold Case up for voting.  How could I not see this was going to happen?  What are we going to do for the remaining… (not enough fingers so it is shoes and socks off)… 15 weeks?  I’m left with no option but to repeat the exercise, excluding those that have won so far.

We seem to have stumbled across a sort of theme in our random selection of Bad Night, A Perfect Day and One Night.  You have 7 days to choose, starting NOW! (correct at time of posting)

Summer Of HD 2014 - Week 9

  • Ep 3 - Bad Night (33%, 2 Votes)
  • Ep 9 - A Perfect Day (33%, 2 Votes)
  • Ep 16 - One Night (33%, 2 Votes)

Cold Case S03E23 – Joseph HD Screencaps

Cold_Case_S03E23_lilly_061Two weeks.  Two guys.  Lilly! 😮

In defence of her reputation I should stress that the random order of KM UK’s Summer Of HD 2014 means that last week’s Dog Day Afternoons was, in ‘reality’ 9 episodes before this one, what ever that equated to in the Cold Case universe.  Plus, motorbike man Ray had his ulterior motive for turning up and was not seen again until early in season 4, where he complicates things further.  In the ‘cons column’ of marks against Lil’s new distraction is the fact that he’s a dead guy!

Credit to the editors over at the very useful Cold Case Wiki (link always in the list on right) for spotting not only the similarities between Joseph and the 1944 film Laura, but some of the nods to the film within the episode such as the name of one of the cats.

The recent death of Joseph Shaw, a councillor working with teenage drug addicts, is re-evaluated when his credit card is used. Going through the evidence our Lilly is quite taken with the photo of the victim.  We know she always takes cases to heart but this case took her heart.  After discovering the surprising truth Lilly went a bit rogue.  And when found out she went a bit rouge (I’ve wait years to make that joke!).  Scotty tried to offer his support.  Lt. John Stillman was less happy.  Many episodes end with Lilly seeing the ‘ghost’ of the victim.  In this one she starting ‘seeing’ the victim.  She really ‘knocked on his door’ nudge-nudge, wink-wink 😉

We now have 388 HD (720p) Lilly screencaps and 5 high quality still photos from Joseph in the Gallery, cats included.

The Scarborough Film Festival By Tianna

Last weekend saw a screening of the short film The Coin at the Scarborough Film Festival in Canada.  Tianna, one of KM UK’s long-standing regulars, attended the event and saw the film.  She very kindly agreed to write about the experience for us.  Thank you Tee.

So, without further ado I’ll leave you in the capable hands of Tianna.

Scarborough Film Festival, Toronto, Ontario, Canada – June 2014

Good afternoon! My name is Tianna; I’m a 20 year old broadcast media student from Toronto, Canada. I’ve been a Kathryn Morris fan for about 8 years and a member of KMUK for 5 years. RichE asked me to write about my recent experience as a volunteer at the 2nd annual Scarborough Film Festival!

This festival featured 30 films from over 20 different countries and was supported by local and national businesses and associations. The Prime Minister of Canada even sent his well wishes for the festivals success! And a success it was! We had hundreds of people attend film screenings from June 3rd – June 8th!

As you may have heard, a short film called “The Coin” featuring Kathryn was featured. Director Fabien Martorell submitted his 9 minute short and I happened to be volunteering the night it was screening. I was able to sneak away and watch Kathryn on the big screen with my popcorn in hand!

As far as the film goes, it was pretty much everything you see in the trailer. Kathryn’s character scolding her young son while driving to the store. When they pull in to the parking lot, she shouts at the child to remove his seatbelt. After looking into the boys fearful eyes, Kathryn glances into the rearview mirror and internally reflects on her behaviour with such a sadness in her eyes – It was truly moving. As if not to let her guard down and show the boy her vulnerable side, she snaps at him once more to exit the car. The rest, as you’ve seen in the trailer, is the homeless man (Christopher Lloyd) comforting the the child and giving him a “magical coin” to remember he is not a bad boy, but a good one!

Overall the film was really sweet and showed a very different side of Kathryn’s acting capability! Hopefully soon the film will be made available for the rest of you to see!

Thanks again to Tianna.

The Coin In Paris On Friday

champs_elysees_film_festival_960x355Another film festival reminder.

From a non-French speaking part of Canada to an area well known for its usage of the French language… France (obviously).

Today (11th June) marks the start of the Champs-Élysées Film Festival.  It is running until next Tuesday (the 17th) in various venues on or near the famous road in Paris.

Fabien Martorell’s short film The Coin gets a second-home screening (because Fabien is French) on Friday (13th) evening at the MK2 Grand Palais, which is near to the Place de la Concorde.

Unlike the recent Scarborough Film Festival where they took the slightly unusual step of pairing it with a feature film, the CE Film Festival is showing The Coin with 5 other American short films in a screening starting at 8:45pm.  The six are in competition under the “American Selection, Non School-Related” banner (aka the “Courts Métrages Américains (Hors écoles)” in French).  American film schools, such at the AFI, get their own section.

Not quite sure how this fits into that “American” theme but one of that rival quintet is a short called Insomniacs by Charles Chintzer Lai, which is set is London and co-stars the English rose Imogen Stubbs (who I haven’t seen anything for far too long).

The official Champs-Élysées Film Festival website HERE (now available in English) has all the info you could possibly want.

Summer Of HD 2014 – Week 8 Poll

Joseph took one of the less surprising wins so far in last week’s poll for KM UK’s Summer Of HD for 2014.  Get the goods on that episode next week.

There being 23 episodes in season 3 of Cold Case and each poll is made up of 3 choices meant the maths didn’t quite work.  So, for this last poll of the initial run through we are down to the two remaining ones.  It makes it a simple yes/no, left/right, up/down, night/day, zero/one, Lewis/Nico, Kylie/Dannii, United/City choice between Frank’s Best and Sanctuary.  Go!

Summer Of HD 2014 - Week 8

  • Ep 15 - Sanctuary (67%, 2 Votes)
  • Ep 10 - Frank's Best (33%, 1 Votes)

Total Voters: 3
