Emmy Awards 2004 Arrivals Photo Update

arrivals_06The nominations for the 2014 Primetime Emmy Awards were announced yesterday.

Several things were notable by their absence.  Cold Case, Kathryn and KM UK.  Of course, only two of those things were ever actually eligible for an Emmy, and just one of them was ever nominated.  Cold Case was up for an “Art Direction” trophy for Factory Girls (S02E02) back in 2005.

But we’re not bitter.  Oh, no 😕

The 2014 nominations for the awards ceremony to be held in late August include a lot of British actors and shows,  Downton Abbey being probably the best known around the world.  Comedian Ricky Gervais’ is listed for his work in the often very moving comedy drama Derek.  Michelle Dockery, Jim Carter, Maggie Smith and Joanne Froggatt (all of Downton Abbey);  Chiwetel Ejiofor (Dancing On The Edge), Diana Rigg (Game Of Thrones), Martin Freeman (Fargo and Sherlock), Helena Bonham Carter (Burton And Taylor), Idris Elba (Luther), Daniel Craig (One Life), Alfred Molina (The Normal Heart), Cat Deeley (So You Think You Can Dance), Jeremy Irons (Game Of Lions), Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock Holmes), and Minnie Driver (Return To Zero) all gets nods.  As do the shows Luther, The White Queen, Sherlock Holmes and Downton Abbey.

As we often struggle to win things directly here in the UK (see the results in the recent World Cup and Wimbledon) we like to try and latch onto any success we can by association.  There are lots of connections with the United Kingdom throughout the Emmy nominations list this year.  As covered in some depth here on KM UK recently Veep has a lot of British input. Game Of Thrones is largely filmed with the Northern Ireland.  Episodes is a UK/USA co-production mostly filmed in England.  House Of Cards is based on a British drama series and we’ve half adopted its star Kevin Spacey as he’s been here a few years running the Old Vic theatre in London.  Dancing With The Stars, Antiques Roadshow and Who Do You Think You Are? we’ll claim too as they are exported BBC properties.

Looking down the full list of nominations I’m surprised to see multiple awards shows (Golden Globes and Tonys) up for awards.  Isn’t there a danger that awards shows giving other awards shows award will cause some rift in the space-time continuum and cause a blackhole or something  😮  It just sounds like a bad idea.

No doubt you have your own thoughts on the 2014 Primatime Emmy Awards nominations.  Good, bad, indifferent?

Where was I?  Oh, yes.  Back in September of 2004 Kathryn attended the Primetime Emmy Awards.  We’ve covered it before here on KM UK, and we will do again, but for now but yesterday’s announcements seemed like very good excuse (not that we need one really) to revisit this event and bring you 30, yes thirty, extra photos of Kathryn arriving at the event.  She looks amazing in her long red dress.

I’d like draw your attention in particular to the image in the top right of this post.  It was kindly donate to KM UK by our friend Alexia over at Emilia Fox Online.  Many thanks to her.  It’s a nice large image, which is nice, and large.

The Gallery is where you will find them all.

Cold Case S03E01 – Family Full HD Screencaps

Cold_Case_S03E01_lilly_176Ten weeks into this thing and we finally reach the beginning.

Yes, we’re covering the Cold Case season 3 opener ‘Family’ this time.

A teenager has a possible new lead on the murder of her own father, a teenager himself, who died the day she was born in 1988.  After being abandoned by her mother that night the girl has been in the foster system her whole life.  Questions are raised about whether the victim was her father.  Meanwhile Lilly’s back to work after the funeral of George Marks, the serial killer from the latter half of season 2.  Could this case bring up Lilly’s own parent-related issues.

Speaking of family, the squad find a change to theirs as new detective Josie Sutton (Sarah Brown) joins them.  There are rumours about the reasons she left her previous assignment and Vera (Jeremy Ratchford) is spreading them.  Scotty, however, is the one that wants to ‘spread ’em’ 😉  Sarah only lasted 4 more episodes before her character was written out.  Since Cold Case Sarah has appeared in various films and TV shows including Castle and CSI, with periods on soaps The Bold And The Beautiful and Days Of Our Lives, as well as a return stint on General Hospital.  Appropriately, given the weekend’s Wimbledon finals, Nick wants “new balls please” as a tennis-playing witness gets a little flirty.

Who is the father?  Who’s the killer?  Will mum and daughter reconcile?  And what about the creepy nurse?

KM UK’s Summer Of HD 2014 goes full  HD with a new set of 176 1080p Lilly screencaps now to be found in the Gallery.

Happy 4th Of July 2014

wallpaper_111_2484x2000_smallbarbieWho had the brilliant idea of having the 4th of July on a Friday this year? 😀

I would imagine that productivity has been at an all time low in the US with the week-long party held in the lead up to such a big day for the nation.

For those of you still sober and conscious, and to Kathryn and her family, Happy Fourth Of July.

I’ve used the picture above before and I make no apology for doing so again.  Thanks again to smallbarbie for giving us one of KM UK’s iconic images.  It and many more can be found in our Fan Art Gallery.

Murder She Wrote – Sat/Sun ITV3

msw_s12e22_035Picture the scene: you’ve sat through enough football and tennis the past couple of weeks to bore even the most ardent fan of either sport.  England have proved incapable at football, again, and our tennis hero has been re-branded as Scottish.  It’s late on Saturday and you need a change of pace from the repeat showing of action films that have filled the evening schedules.  What can you do?  Fear no longer.  Help is at hand.

Murder, She Wrote is not normally late night TV viewing but the UK’s ITV3 channel has decided to try and goose its ratings at the midnight hour by putting on an episode.  The episode in question is one of the very last from the 12th and final season, has the title of What You Don’t Know Can Kill You, and sees Kathryn in a guest starring role.

So, if you find yourself up as Saturday becomes Sunday then tune into ITV3 for a bit of gentle sleuthing with Jessica Fletcher (Angela Lansbury) and the folks of Cabots Cove, which is clearly one of the most dangerous places in America.  England has its own equivalent in Midsomer from Midsomer Murders (one of the most watched shows in the world!) with a body count for the small county that must be past the century in the 100 episodes so far.

Or record it and watch it before the tennis on Sunday.

My detailed review (spoiler alert!) of this Murder, She Wrote episode can be seen in this post from back in 2009.  Of course there is also already comprehensive coverage of MSW: WYDKCKY in the KM UK Gallery.

It doesn’t happen often enough but here on KM UK we like to mention appearances of Kathryn’s work on the TV screens of Great Britain in our Media Alert posts.  If you spot something upcoming, preferably on channels available on the Freeview system that everyone has access to, then please let me know via the contact form.
