Which will triumph this time? There’s only one way to find out… VOTE!
Speaking of the boss, 8 Years was one of the handful of CC episodes to contain music by a single artist. In this instance the plot was worked around the songs by Bruce “The Boss” Springsteen. I’m not au fait with this young person music but I gather it is popular. Quite how it fits in with a crime that occurred way back in 1988 I can’t imagine This must also be one of the few episodes of CC to include the title in the opening sequence when it shows time has passed with the caption “8 Years Later”. The gap shows how the lives of four close friends have changed and culminated in the death of one of them. After revisting the past to solve the case the show ends with various squad members revisiting the past in the own lives. John meet his ex, Nick (Jeremy Ratchford) succumbs to temptation, and as for Lilly… Her reminiscing with a witness about a wild/romantic interlude in her past gets her thumbing through the photo album. Who could the shy be-helmeted gentleman be? This latest post as part of the KM UK Summer Of HD 2014 brings us 127 HD (720p) Lilly screencaps in the Gallery. Update: Ooops. I jumped the gun. I was supposed to post the most recent poll winner, which was Colors, here. That will be posted next week now.
Several things were notable by their absence. Cold Case, Kathryn and KM UK. Of course, only two of those things were ever actually eligible for an Emmy, and just one of them was ever nominated. Cold Case was up for an “Art Direction” trophy for Factory Girls (S02E02) back in 2005. But we’re not bitter. Oh, no 😕 The 2014 nominations for the awards ceremony to be held in late August include a lot of British actors and shows, Downton Abbey being probably the best known around the world. Comedian Ricky Gervais’ is listed for his work in the often very moving comedy drama Derek. Michelle Dockery, Jim Carter, Maggie Smith and Joanne Froggatt (all of Downton Abbey); Chiwetel Ejiofor (Dancing On The Edge), Diana Rigg (Game Of Thrones), Martin Freeman (Fargo and Sherlock), Helena Bonham Carter (Burton And Taylor), Idris Elba (Luther), Daniel Craig (One Life), Alfred Molina (The Normal Heart), Cat Deeley (So You Think You Can Dance), Jeremy Irons (Game Of Lions), Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock Holmes), and Minnie Driver (Return To Zero) all gets nods. As do the shows Luther, The White Queen, Sherlock Holmes and Downton Abbey. As we often struggle to win things directly here in the UK (see the results in the recent World Cup and Wimbledon) we like to try and latch onto any success we can by association. There are lots of connections with the United Kingdom throughout the Emmy nominations list this year. As covered in some depth here on KM UK recently Veep has a lot of British input. Game Of Thrones is largely filmed with the Northern Ireland. Episodes is a UK/USA co-production mostly filmed in England. House Of Cards is based on a British drama series and we’ve half adopted its star Kevin Spacey as he’s been here a few years running the Old Vic theatre in London. Dancing With The Stars, Antiques Roadshow and Who Do You Think You Are? we’ll claim too as they are exported BBC properties. Looking down the full list of nominations I’m surprised to see multiple awards shows (Golden Globes and Tonys) up for awards. Isn’t there a danger that awards shows giving other awards shows award will cause some rift in the space-time continuum and cause a blackhole or something 😮 It just sounds like a bad idea. No doubt you have your own thoughts on the 2014 Primatime Emmy Awards nominations. Good, bad, indifferent? Where was I? Oh, yes. Back in September of 2004 Kathryn attended the Primetime Emmy Awards. We’ve covered it before here on KM UK, and we will do again, but for now but yesterday’s announcements seemed like very good excuse (not that we need one really) to revisit this event and bring you 30, yes thirty, extra photos of Kathryn arriving at the event. She looks amazing in her long red dress. I’d like draw your attention in particular to the image in the top right of this post. Yes, we’re covering the Cold Case season 3 opener ‘Family’ this time. A teenager has a possible new lead on the murder of her own father, a teenager himself, who died the day she was born in 1988. After being abandoned by her mother that night the girl has been in the foster system her whole life. Questions are raised about whether the victim was her father. Meanwhile Lilly’s back to work after the funeral of George Marks, the serial killer from the latter half of season 2. Could this case bring up Lilly’s own parent-related issues. Speaking of family, the squad find a change to theirs as new detective Josie Sutton (Sarah Brown) joins them. There are rumours about the reasons she left her previous assignment and Vera (Jeremy Ratchford) is spreading them. Scotty, however, is the one that wants to ‘spread ’em’ 😉 Sarah only lasted 4 more episodes before her character was written out. Since Cold Case Sarah has appeared in various films and TV shows including Castle and CSI, with periods on soaps The Bold And The Beautiful and Days Of Our Lives, as well as a return stint on General Hospital. Appropriately, given the weekend’s Wimbledon finals, Nick wants “new balls please” as a tennis-playing witness gets a little flirty. Who is the father? Who’s the killer? Each of this week’s entrants has been up for the vote before. The Promise showed some promise last time out but was pipped by Beautiful Fool. Start Up… errr… didn’t, up against the powerhouse that is Joseph. And Frank’s Best came second best to Sanctuary.
