All parents will recognise the multiple, complex emotions in that question. It means both:
“Blimey Charlie the past year has flown by! They’ll be married and have kids of their own before we know it!”
and
“My god, it’s been the longest year of our lives! Tell us it gets easier!”
at the same time.
Yes, today (21st August 2014) it has been one whole year since the birth of Kathryn and Johnny’s boys Jameson and Rocco.
No doubt they’ll be having a great day surrounded by loved ones and presents, and we send them our best wishes.
Update: Johnny Messner sent a series of Tweets today which I have combined into the larger quote below.
A year ago today exactly 48 minutes ago I met my first son Jameson and 1 minute after came Rocco! Nothing in my life to date has come close to what they have brought into my life! Everyday I am blown away minute to minute on what those boys bring to my life! The overwhelming joy that they bring! For the first time in my life it’s not all about me ! What a relief that is! A great friend of mine told be before they were born that your children come with a loaf of bread! And truer words could not have been spoken@FrankGrillo I am truly blessed! #god#love
Last but certainly not least to Kathryn the mother of my sons , I couldn’t have picked a better mother from a pool of millions ! You have shown me what true love is all about! Your love for the boys is a love I didn’t know existed ! Thank you for being the rock, for always being you ! I love you
The past few times that the BBC has shown the John Woo sci-fi action drama Paycheck it has been after a gap of around two years. Xmas comes early on Thursday (21st Aug) as it has been only a little over one year since the last broadcast. Whoo-hoo! Or should that be Woo-hoo!
Auntie Beeb has been extra kind to us as they are also showing the film at the slightly earlier time of 23:35, which (as I always say) means you can see Kathryn’s memorably forgettable (or is it forgettably memorable?) performance and be done well before midnight. She’s only in the opening section, but it is 10 minutes worth watching. Those in Northern Ireland will have to wait until later on Friday night. The BBC’s website has details of the broadcast.
Leading man Ben Affleck (Pearl Harbor) was earlier this year controversially announced as being the new Batman, with the first film with him in that role due for release in the summer of 2016. By then it will be nearly 20 years since Ben and his writing/acting partner Matt Damon worked with the recently departed Robin Williams in Good Will Hunting. Robin won a Support Acting Oscar and the boys won a Screenplay Oscar for that one.
Not surprisingly Paycheck already features strongly in the KM UK Gallery with a comprehensive set of HD screencaps. A more detailed description of Kathryn’s role in the film can be found in an earlier post here.
Just in case you have your memory wiped between now and the start of Paycheck (add 24.5 hours if you are in Northern Ireland) here is a countdown timer to remind you:
We are down to the last few as we approach the end of our summer journey through Cold Case season 3.
This week and next there will only be two to choose from. So, which is it to be episode 5 Committed or episode 22 The River?
We had another tie in last week’s poll. There was no way to separate the two so I’ve randomly chosen the winner as Frank’s Best, come back next Monday for that.
Is One Night a fan favourite? It puts you through the emotional wringer, covering some dark ground on the way to the happy conclusion.
The episode, number 16 of Cold Case‘s third season, is one of only 16 written by Veena Sud during her involvement with the show’s first five seasons. Veena also produced over 60 episodes. Since Cold Case Veena has gone on to develop, executive produce, and write for the American version of the drama series The Killing, which recently concluded with a short 4th season released on Netflix. As an aside Veena wrote and directed a short film called One Night back in 2000. It is not related in any way to this episode of Cold Case.
One Night is markedly different from most other Cold Case episodes in that it becomes a new and active case. A hot one. A man who won’t identify himself walks into the squad room and confesses to burying alive a teenage boy in 1980. His body was discovered and it remained an unsolved crime. Then he says there is a newly interred boy, likely still alive. Much of the rest of the episode is just Lilly and “John Doe”, played by the always busy Zeljko Ivanek (Heroes, Damages, Argo), either side of the table in the interrogation room. Tense stuff.
Will Lilly get the truth out of “John Doe” and rescue his latest victim in time? Did I mention the happy conclusion earlier?
As well as bringing you a new set of 200 new Full HD (1080p) Lilly screencaps for the KM UK 2014 Summer Of HD there are also 5 HQ promo still photos. All are now in the Gallery.
‘Is it morally okay to pray your crush’s relationship doesn’t work out?’
Well… quite… A tricky one I’m sure you’ll agree.
As well as informing and entertaining, sometimes this site likes to make you think. Preferably something other than ‘is he really trying to be informative and/or entertaining?’
Long time visitor, not first time contributor, Gina has kindly volunteered some fan art she made for her Tumblr site to follow a trend of adding text posts to screencaps from top TV shows. Gina used screencaps from KM UK’s vast collection of Cold Case-themed images (see the Gallery) and so she forwarded copies of them to me to add to the site. Now the collection is even more vast! Thank you Gina.
Check out the five wallpapers in the Fan Art section of the Gallery.
Gina would more than welcome further additions by you, the Cold Case fans, to add her page here. If you use images from KM UK then please let me know as it would be great see how they being re-purposed.
On a side note, we have a not insignificant first anniversary coming up. If any one wants to help KM UK mark the occasion with some suitably themed fan art then I would be happy to show case them here. Any other submissions are more than welcome as well at any time. Contact me.
