Revival House Extension #5

revival_house_430x38Only 6 months left.

Three years ago I first reported on the creation of Revival House, Kathryn’s production company after the abandonment of the earlier Hotplate Productions.  Revival House was first mentioned in relation to a drama project that never saw the light of day.  Since then I have noted the milestones in the process the Revival House trademark has gone through.

In April 2012 the registration received its Notice Of Allowance, meaning it had been cleared for use.  The next step is for the trademark to be used commercial and evidence of that lodged in a Statement Of Use (SOA) to the United States Patent And Trademark Office (USPTO).  Once that’s done and accepted the trademark is officially registered.  You initially have 6 months after the NOA to submit the SOA.  If that doesn’t happen a 6 month extension can be applied for.  Up to 5 such extra time periods, giving a total of 3 years from the NOA, can be requested before the trademark is abandoned.

Earlier this month the latest, and last allowed, extension request was accepted by the USPTO.  This means that Kathryn has until next April to use, and prove use of, the Revival House trademark.  The Alice Sweet Alice film that’s still in development is being done under the auspices of Revival House.  Hopefully we will hear more before the April 2015 deadline on the trademark.

For those suitably interested in such things the Trademarkia website has all the details.

The Coin Takes Win At SPIFF

Two out of two.

A good weekend’s work for The Coin.

After success on Saturday at the Sunscreen Film Festival the roll continued as The Coin took another prize on Sunday (12th Oct).

The Coin won another Best Short Film award, this time at the San Pedro International Film Festival.

Congratulations again to all involved in the project.  How many more festivals will it be screened at and how many more trophies can it win?

The Coin Basks In Sunscreen Win

One down.  One to go.

Yesterday (11th Oct) the short film The Coin was screened at the Sunscreen Film Festival (West) in South Bay, California.

There is good news from the event.  As you can see from the photo on the right Fabien Martorell is holding some silverware, albeit some non-silver silverware.  The good news is that that non-silver silverware represents gold.

The Coin won Best Short Film.

Congratulations to all the cast and crew on the continued success of the film at similar future events, both known and unknown.

Today the short is being screened at the neighbouring San Pedro International Film Festival.  Can it make it a double win?

The Coin To Be At Enfoque, Puerto Rico

gold_coast_international_film_festival_851x315This weekend (11-12th Oct) The Coin gets two screenings on the west coast of the United States.  See here for more details on that.  Now we’ve found out that the short film will be heading about as far east as it can whilst staying within the US, sort of.

screenshot_001Puerto Rico, located in the Caribbean, is an “unincorporated territory” of the United States, one of a dozen or so islands in the Pacific and the Caribbean that are designated that way.  These territories are controlled by the US government but are independent from certain constitutional elements.

In November the Enfoque International Film Festival will be taking place at the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico (Arts Museum) in the San Juan region situated in the north east corner of the island.  The Enfoque (Spanish for “approach”) festival was first held 5 years ago.

The exact schedule has not been released yet but The Coin is one of 45 films to be shown in the 3 day event running across Thursday the 13th to Saturday the 15th of November.  The festival’s website is here.

Thanks to Fabien Martorell for letting us know about this.

The photo above shows part of the Castillo San Felipe del Morro, a 16th century citadel on the the northern tip of the San Juan coast line.  It has been a World Heritage Site for a couple decades  and attracts millions of visitors per year.

Cold Case Cast Catch-up – September-ish 2014

john_finn_001_430x180Turns out my research for the September 2014 CCCC-up was a little lacking.

I could have waited until the next edition at the end of October but, in this case, it would have been too late.  So, I thought I’d sneak in a special ‘September-ish’ update.

In July I posted the latest news about the Irish drama An Bronntanas which stars John Finn (John Stillman in CC).  After being originally filmed as a TV drama series for broadcast early this year, it was turned into a feature length film for showing at the Galway Film Fleadh.  Then, a 5 part showing was planned for the Xmas holiday period.  That is what I had in mind when I quickly checked to see if John had any new projects in the pipeline for CCCC-up September 2014.  An Bronntanas was ignored.

Something made me look into An Bronntanas again in the past couple of days and I found, much to my surprise, that the broadcast has been brought forward to late October.  The Irish-language channel TG4 will start the series on the 23rd of this month at 9:30pm.  See the TG4 website for details.

An Bronntanas (which translates as ‘The Gift’) is about the crew of a lifeboat who, on answering a distress call in a storm, discovering an abandoned boat containing a body and a large haul of drugs.  This creates a lot of dilemmas and issues within the small community.

My slightly more thorough investigations turned up a trailer for the show on YouTube.  John appears towards the end of the video.  It looks like he is playing a police office.  Typecasting hey? 😉

I must do proper research…
