Short. Sweet. April Shower

short_sweet_film_fest_cleveland_937x861Mere hours after yesterday’s post about the non-appearance of the ‘Short. Sweet. Film Fest‘ event over the weekend there was a break.  Announcements have been made.

A coincidence?  I’ll leave that for you to decide.

The festival has been moved to the 10th-12th April of this year and it will be held in the new ‘Alex Theater At The 9’.

‘The 9’ is a re-development of the former Ameritrust complex in Cleveland, Ohio.  Finished last September the site now contains apartments, offices, a hotel and various entertainment venues, including the Alex Theater.  In fact the number of different elements totals… wait for it… 8… and that one :-)

Details of the ‘Short. Sweet. Film Fest’ schedule are not yet available, so we don’t know exactly when you’ll be able to see The Coin, but there is plenty of time for that.

Tickets for the festival are available via the official website HERE.

Short. Sweet. F.A.

short_sweet_film_fest_cleveland_937x861Two weeks ago I posted that another screening of the short film The Coin was pending.

Writer/director/producer Fabien Martorell had told us that his long-running 9 minute production was to be shown at the ‘Short. Sweet. Film Fest’ in Cleveland, Ohio.

The information at the time was the the event would take place over the weekend just gone, the 6-8th of February.

However, there was some evidence that the festival had been moved to a similar long weekend date in early April.  It wasn’t clear though.

With the initial dates having now passed us by I think it is safe to say that the ‘Short. Sweet. Film Fest’ was a no-show in February.  It’s one thing for a film to not make it, but a whole festival?

Hopefully things will become clearer as the alternative time arrives and the good burghers of Cleveland will get their chance to see Kathryn, Christopher Lloyd (Deadly Games) and the (not so) young (now) Jack Ryan Shepherd in action.

KM UK will of course bring you more details when we can.

We now return you to your normally scheduled…

Who Shot LR?

Cold_Case_S04E24_lilly_195That guy did.  The one with the gun!

It’s not a big mystery.  We are, of course, talking about Stalker the Cold Case season 4 finale in which Ed Marteson draws a gun on the squad in their own building and takes Lilly hostage.  With everything else going on in Lilly’s life (her mother being ill etc.) she needed this situation like she needed a hole in the… err… shoulder.

But why bring this up now?

Joe Reegan the actor who played Ed has done an interview for The Examiner website in which he talks about his role in Cold Case as well has a his work in TV dramas, films and helping to rescue mistreated dogs.

“I did a couple episodes of Cold Case when I first started,” he said. “I ended up doing the season finale with a cliffhanger when I shot Lilly Rush, who was the lead character on the show. The season premiere wasn’t until the next season, so several people came up to me and were like ‘I can’t believe you shot Kathryn Morris!'”

Contrary to expectation it improved his career prospects! :-)

Since taking down Detective Lilly Rush Ed has been in CSI: LV and NY shows, Castle, NCIS, Criminal Minds, Without A Trace, Hawaii Five-0, and Chicago PD.  He will also be in the new Cyber offshoot of the CSI franchise when it starts in March.

Joe is currently promoting a new film Alien Outpost (aka Outpost 37), which is due for a limited release in a few days time.

KM UK Awards 2015

riche_teddy_bear_medal_oscar_128x128It’s that time again.

Time to hand out some prizes in the annual KM UK Awards.

For the last couple of years we eschewed the silverware in favour of the more wallet-friendly “I ♡ KM UK” teddy bear.  We’ve regained a little confidence economically but we’re not out of the woods (bear, woods, geddit?) yet so ‘austerity bear’ is back again.  And, we love him so much it would not be the same without him now.

An Oscars-style awards ceremony doesn’t seem the same unless a statuette is involved though so I dipped into petty cash to buy a few new ones.  There’s not enough for many full-sized versions so we bought miniatures instead.  And, we found down the back of the sofa a few spare silver medals we handed out in 2012.

Put them all together and you get the medal-wearing, statue-clutching bear you see above.  A ‘RichE’ wearing a ‘RichE’ and holding a ‘RichE’. Weird. Each winner will receive one.

Money is still tight though and these venues aren’t cheap to hire for the night so go easy on the free bar and buffet please.

That’s enough pre-event waffle from me.  Let’s go over to our commentators, hosts, award givers and receivers.

Cold Case Cast Catch-up – January 2015

jeremy_ratchford_001_430x180It’s the first CCCC-up of 2015 and we’re getting off to a slow start looking at the on-going careers of the cast of Cold Case.

If a month went by and there was news about only one of the key CC cast members then you’d put your money on it being Tracie Thoms (Kat Miller in CC).  If in doubt, Tracie.  I’m sure she’s been very busy since the last CCCC-up, as always, but this month we get to report on just Jeremy.

Almost without me noticing Jeremy Ratchford (Nick Vera in CC) managed to sneak in a guest appearance in the CBS TV drama The Mentalist a couple of weeks ago.  The highly successful show is in the middle of its 7th and final season.  It sees Simon Baker star as Patrick Jane, a con-artist psychic who initially joins forces with the police to catch the killer of his family.  Jeremy’s role in the episode entitled ‘Little Yellow House’ was as a guy called George Holiday.

Short but sweet, I’m sure you’ll agree.
