Prompted by a question raised by site regular Kathy we’ve delved back into the archives for a very timely update.
It was on this day (23rd May 2006) seven years ago that Kathryn attended the Academy Of Country Music Awards. The ACMAs are not to be confused with other country music awards with similar acronyms such as the Country Music Awards. What ever happened to the “western” part anyway? Don’t they do both types of music any more?
It looks like it was quite a full evening for Kathryn. It started with arriving in an American sub-compact… OK, that’s clearly a lie. It started many hours earlier with her getting ready for the event (as women are wont to do) and involved a ridiculously long, gold painted stretched limo. Like Kathryn needed such a “look at me” vehicle when she stepped out of the car looking like that! Yowza! Extra points if you can leave a comment naming the make of dress and monkey-logoed purse.
Getting out of a limo has a nasty habit of leading to a red carpet and sure enough it happened here. After that you can’t avoid having a portrait photo session, attending a music awards ceremony, going on stage to give an award and being photographed some more but this time with various products. Tough day. Do you think Kathryn was supposed to be putting on the clothes and walking off with them? 😮
So, 26 new(ish) photos have now been added to the Gallery to help further illustrate the points made above. Ten in the arrivals section. One update (it’s bigger of course) to photo number 6 in the press room set. And, a bakers dozen (that’s 13) in the new Distinctive Assets At The ACMA sub-album.
Plus, we have a very, very short video of Kathryn presenting the Best Album award to… you’ll have to watch to find out
According to a post by Fabien Martorell on the Facebook page for the short film The Coin, it has been selected for the Palm Springs International ShortFest for 2013. Fabien should know more than most as he is the director and co-writer of the short film. Congratulations to all involved in that achievement.
The festival runs for a week in the latter half of June and will be showing more than 300 short films from all over the world. Nothing has been announced officially by the festival organisers as the time of writing. We will certainly let you know when that changes.
The Coin is a 9 minute long film starring Christopher Lloyd (Back To The Future) and Kathryn. Kathryn plays the stressed-out mother of a young boy who meets a homeless man (Lloyd).
See previous posts on KM UK for more info on the project. The ShortFest and the International Film Festival share a website which can be seen here.
Has it really been over a month since the last time we delved back into the archive for a Gallery update? And have we really never posted anything from the Step Up Women’s Network Inspiration Awards in 2006? Yes and, much to our surprise, no. Let’s correct both those things right now.
To prove that some thought goes into these things and we don’t just pick a random image taken from anywhere, post it and ask if you like it (as if we would ever stoop to that!) this is almost an anniversary for this event. Which in itself could be a running theme in the coming weeks.
It is difficult to believe that these photos were taken all the way back in 2006, but they were. The 27th of April 2006 to be precise. As you can see from the image above Kathryn spoke at the event as well as just honouring them with her presence. That perfect amount of long blonde hair was also there that day.
In a small run of public appearances at the end of 2012, Kathryn was seen attending a couple of Step Up Network events. You can jog your memory about that here and here.
The KM UK Gallery now has 29 new photos (of various sizes) from the red carpet, the awards ceremony itself and accompanying function. Plus, we have a small video of Kathryn being interviewed at the event.
How many likes? 😉
It is just under a week away but we just couldn’t help but open one of our Easter eggs early. Only the best quality, whiter than white chocolate of course. It might be very finely wrapped but sometimes you just want to rip it open to get the sweet goodness inside. Nom, nom, nom… 😀
Where were we? Oh yes, we have a little photo and video update today from an event gone by. It’s odd how the mind works sometimes 😉
Three years ago to the day it was just over 6 months since we first covered this event the Creative Arts Emmys from 2009. Back on March the 25th, 2010 we updated our Gallery with a video of Kathryn presenting an award at the ceremony, and screencaps taken from it. We’d previously carried photos from the red carpet in the days after the event happened.
Kathryn looked so stunning in her very off the shoulder dress so it is requires little excuse to make repeat visits to the images. So that’s what we’re doing today.
We have added a total of 14 new and updated photos of Kathryn arriving at the Nokia Theatre to our Gallery. For those keeping count numbers 13, 14, 15 and 28 have been super-sized. The rest, 30 to 39, are new. Some are large, some less so. The descriptions below each image mark the additions and changed ones. They are all worth a look, of course.
Surely that’s enough one day? (It is, and don’t call me Shirley.) But, no. Much like the KM UK Award winning dress we see here, our cup runneth over 😉
We also have a small extra video of Kathryn on said carpet. We can see that she is being interviewed by E!, though this isn’t a video of the interview. The cameraman we see in shot is a little more gentlemanly/professional and doesn’t appear to pause part way down like the last guy 😮
Even all this time the year 2007 is still proving fertile ground for Kathryn sightings. Just two weeks ago we covered another one that had come to our attention.
In what must have been one of the most hectic years in Kathryn’s life she managed to squeeze in over 30 public appearances, filming the equivalent of a whole season of Cold Case (the end of season 4 and the beginning of 5), and she filmed her scenes for The Assassination Of A High School President. That’s quite a journey. However, if you only looked at where Kathryn started and ended 2007 you’d almost think she hadn’t moved at all.
Mid-January 2007 saw Kathryn attend the Sundance Film Festival to promote her latest project, the movie Resurrecting The Champ starring Josh Hartnett and Samuel L Jackson. Sundance is held in Park City, Utah every year. In early December 2007 Kathryn was back in Park City, but this time it was for the annual Skifest event in the nearby Deer Valley resort.
The Skifest is a pro-celebrity skiing contest in aid of Waterkeeper Alliance, an organisation dedicated to protecting clean water sources around the world. It is held every year in early December and marks the start of the ski season and the opening of the resort. Alongside the actual skiing there are a lot of après-ski events such as a musical concert given by one of the celebrity guests. The event has it’s own website here.
It hasn’t been particularly easy to narrow the event to 2007 as Kathryn has not featured much and lots of the celebrities have attended multiple times, making it difficult to guess the year. After some exhaustive searching we are now certain of the year. Kathryn does not appear to have taken part in the skiing competition that forms the backbone of the event. Instead she was there to support the stars of other CBS TV shows Dylan Bruno from Numb3rs (above left) and Eric Close from Without A Trace (above right). CBS covers the Skifest with a highlights/infomericial show a week or two later. The photo below left shows Kathryn being interviewed by someone from CBS. If you have a copy of the TV show from 2007 then please contact us.
In the the Gallery there is now 3 pictures from the event and a page from the December 2008 edition of CBS’s Watch magazine. The magazine photo is just an illustration for the mention of the upcoming 2008 event. Yes, we know, 3 of the 4 are basically the same image just cropped differently. Beggars can’t be choosers and all that.
Thank you to Kareen_T for persevering in contacting KM UK about this.
Update (22 Feb 2013): We have an extra photo to add to the Gallery (the right-hand thumbnail below). The very visible time-stamp confirms that it was taken on the 12th of September 2007. Wait! What? Damn Americans and their bizarre date formats! It’s the 9th of December really.
