The C.O.I.N. At The C.I.F.F. – Update

poster_001This one won’t shouldn’t show up my limited foreign language skills, unlike the last one :-)

In a late night (for those of us this side of ‘the pond’) Tweet the writer/director/producer of the intriguing short film The Coin let it be known that his film will be screened at the Cleveland International Film Festival (CIFF) in March.  That’s Cleveland, Ohio in the USA.

cleveland_international_film_festival_logo_260x93Speaking of ‘ponds’ (it will become painfully clear in a moment) this, the 38th running of the CIFF, will open with a gala screening (i.e. expensive cinema ticket + after party) of British film Not Another Happy Ending.  The romcom stars leggy, red-headed ex-Doctor Who assistant Karen Gillan.  Still not with me on the ‘pond’ thing?  Karen played Amy Pond in Doctor Who.

The Coin, which stars Christopher Lloyd (Back To The Future) and Kathryn, is scheduled to be shown three times over the course of the 12-day long festival, all in the early days.  Starting on the second day (2:15pm, Thursday, 20th March) as part of the ‘Shorts Program 4’, a 90 minute screening with 5 other films.  That is then repeated on the Friday a little later in the day (5:10pm).

On the Saturday (22nd March) The Coin is shown again, this time alongside 6 other films as part of the ‘Hollywood Shorts Program’ at the Hanna Theatre at 2:30pm.

Check the CIFF website for all the ‘when, where, why and how?’ details.  If you are able to attend the event let us know how it goes.

Congrats to all involved in The Coin on being selected again and thanks to Fabien for letting us know.

Update:  A second showing of the ‘Hollywood Shorts Program’ has been added on the Sunday (23rd) morning at 9:20am.

Kathryn @ CDG Awards – Feb 2005

cdga_03From the slightly ridiculous to the sublime.

The KM UK time machine has got stuck in 2005.  The TARDIS was always rather temperamental so why should our KMARDIS (no?) be any different.  It must be too much water in the works, or something.

For this latest hit of nostalgia we move on the 7th annual Costume Designers Guild Awards held on February 19th, 2005.

Now, I can’t claim to know about these things but I get the impression that Kathryn’s outfit (as so wonderfully modelled by her on the left) is the sort of dress that little girls dream of.  A real fairy princess look.

I do feel that I can, however, speak for slightly older boys and say “we likey!” 😛

As much as I hate being a pedant (OK, I love it) but aren’t the costume designers nominated for their work on TV and in films?  In that case doesn’t it seem odd that all actresses turn up to the event in designer outfits and not the costumes being honoured?  It would make for a very different red carpet if they did.  Kathryn certainly never wore that outfit on Cold Case.  I’d definitely remember that!  Best.  Episode.  Ever!

The next CDG Awards is due to take place this coming Saturday (22nd Feb).

2 large and one small photo, and 3 videos, of Kathryn attending the CDGAs in 2005 are now in KM UK the Gallery.

KM UK Awards 2014

RichE MedalLast year’s KM UK Awards saw the introduction of the “I ♡ KM UK” teddy bear, aka the ‘RichE’, as a replacement for our traditional statue. The recession made the gold figurines too expensive and we’d run out of the substitute silver medals we used for the 2012 awards because of the wholly unexpected success of Team GB at that year’s summer Olympics. We’ll be dinning out on that one for decades!  Team GB has done OK at the Winter Olympics so far but I doubt it will be quite the success we had in the summer of 2012.  As a nation we tend to just stop when it snows :-)

Due to popular demand (and the recession is not over yet, they’re still a lot cheaper, and we have soooo many still left over) the bear is back for 2014! Yay!

Yet again we’ve beaten the BAFTAs (Feb 16th) and the Oscars (Mar 2nd) to the punch.  Losers! :-)

Unbelievably this is the fifth time we’re running this event.

Kathryn @ ‘Intent To Live’ Book Party – Feb 2005

intent_to_live_003Kathryn looked dressed for winter back in February of 2005. Appropriately enough because it was winter!

intent_to_live_001I know I could do with a bit of warming up myself, it’s been pretty cold here in England the past few weeks.  And who better than Kathryn as she looks pretty hot here.  Or just pretty.  And hot  😉

In the previous post we saw that Kathryn had escaped Los Angeles and headed to the southern hemisphere at this time of year in 2008.  Our way-back machine has to work even harder this time to reach 2005 for this one.  Feb 10th, 2005, to be precise.

intent_to_live_003A party was held to celebrate the launch of a book called Intent To Live by the renowned acting coach Larry Moss.  Apparently, everybody who is anybody in Hollywood has been taught or helped by Mr Moss at some stage in their career.  We don’t know actually know if Kathryn is amongst them but her presence at this event quite early in her career would suggest she is.  Oops, I’d forgotten this:  the official KM website does actually that Kathryn trained with Larry for 8 years.  Of course, the same “About” text contains numerous errors…

You can see more about Larry Moss and his work on his own website here.

3 small photos of Kathryn attending the Intent To Live book party are now available in the KM UK the Gallery.

Kathryn @ Bondi Beach – Feb 2008

bondi_beach_06Yes, I know, it doesn’t quite live up to billing :-(

Let’s get the list out the way right now.  Left to right we have:  Summer Glau and Thomas Dekker (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles), Ed Westwick (Gossip Girl), Zachary Levi and Yvonne Strahovski (Chuck), Kathryn, and Jensen Ackles (Supernatural).  Only one of those shows is still going today.

Nostalgia time.  The beginning of 2008 was the time of the writers strike in Hollywood.  TV and movie production was widely shut down.  With the “talent” not able to work a bunch of them were shipped off to Australia by Warner Bros. to promote their shows in the Australasia markets, not for the other reason.

On the 12th of Feb 2008 the stars took a break from interviews at the Icebergs Dining Room & Bar on the south-west tip of Bondi Beach in New South Wales, Australia.  Apparently it is one of the best “nosheries” in Sydney.

Kathryn spent several days in Sydney doing promotional work for Cold Case.  Some great photos from two more events were covered here on KM UK back in September 2010 in an image upgrade.

Photos of Kathryn arriving at Icebergs and the group shot above can now be found in the KM UK the Gallery.  Yes Bruce, she is a right bonza Sheila 😉

Thanks to the Summer Glau Wiki for allowing KM UK to have the group photo.
