On this day in history in the year of [insert preferred deity reference or leave blank] 2008…
The date was the 10th of March. It was a Monday that year as well.
The Alliance For Children’s Rights held their annual dinner and awards event.
Kathryn was there.
She over did the lipstick. I’m aware that there is supposed to be some symbolism involved in the wearing of lipstick (which we won’t go into any further here) but if there is any truth to it in this case a doctor should be sought. Apply some cream to the effected area or something. They match the shoes though and otherwise Kathryn does look great in her black & white dress and Wonder Woman bracelet. But, with only one of them she’ll only be stopping traffic, not bullets.
The Alliance For Children’s Rights is a charity that aims to help children in need, especially those in foster care. You can find out more about the organisation on their website here. This year’s event is due to happen in a month’s time on April 7th.
8 variously-sized new photos of Kathryn at the Awards are now in the KM UK Gallery.
The things some people come up with.
I have no idea how many of these groups, organisations and trade bodies exist but so many of them seem to have their own awards and accompanying ceremonies.
Of course, only the very best create cleverly named statues that appear at first to bear no relation to the subject at hand but then when you think about harder it is very, very clever. Who, me? I don’t know what you mean
The American Cinema Editors (you can’t tell me they didn’t strive to reverse engineer that acronym) want to make sure the people working in their field get some recognition beyond the Oscars etc. and you can’t argue with that. The Eddie (see what they did there?) has been given since 1962 after previously just holding a dinner to honour the Oscar nominees in the editing categories. Since then it has branched out to include awards for dramas, comedies, animations and TV. Oh yes, I can read Wikipedia with the best of them :-0 Whoever short-listed the TV series for the 2014 event must have got a Breaking Bad DVD boxset for Xmas as it had 4 of the 5 nominations.
The 2014 ACE Eddie Awards have happened already (7th Feb). You can bet it is the slickest of shows, with no long-winded speeches, that always finishes on time. No cutting off a winner mid-way through their acceptance speeches at the Eddies, oh no. Switch flashback, we find ourselves in a time when Kathryn attended the ACE Eddie Awards. Picture the scene: it’s February, the 25th, the year is 2001. Gladiator and Almost Famous are winning Eddies. A beautiful young actress walks the red carpet. It was a different time. Kathryn attended award ceremonies for a start
Three large and two small photos of Kathryn at the ACE Eddie Awards 2001 are now in KM UK the Gallery. As you can see she had short hair and was wearing a simple black outfit. Many thanks to Alexia at Marvellous Maxine Peake, a website about the actress Maxine Peake who is marvellous, for the big photos.
PS. Before you say it, the irony of this piece being so long for the sake of 5 photos is not lost on me
From the slightly ridiculous to the sublime.
The KM UK time machine has got stuck in 2005. The TARDIS was always rather temperamental so why should our KMARDIS (no?) be any different. It must be too much water in the works, or something.
For this latest hit of nostalgia we move on the 7th annual Costume Designers Guild Awards held on February 19th, 2005.
Now, I can’t claim to know about these things but I get the impression that Kathryn’s outfit (as so wonderfully modelled by her on the left) is the sort of dress that little girls dream of. A real fairy princess look.
I do feel that I can, however, speak for slightly older boys and say “we likey!” 😛
As much as I hate being a pedant (OK, I love it) but aren’t the costume designers nominated for their work on TV and in films? In that case doesn’t it seem odd that all actresses turn up to the event in designer outfits and not the costumes being honoured? It would make for a very different red carpet if they did. Kathryn certainly never wore that outfit on Cold Case. I’d definitely remember that! Best. Episode. Ever!
The next CDG Awards is due to take place this coming Saturday (22nd Feb).
2 large and one small photo, and 3 videos, of Kathryn attending the CDGAs in 2005 are now in KM UK the Gallery.
Last year’s KM UK Awards saw the introduction of the “I ♡ KM UK” teddy bear, aka the ‘RichE’, as a replacement for our traditional statue. The recession made the gold figurines too expensive and we’d run out of the substitute silver medals we used for the 2012 awards because of the wholly unexpected success of Team GB at that year’s summer Olympics. We’ll be dinning out on that one for decades! Team GB has done OK at the Winter Olympics so far but I doubt it will be quite the success we had in the summer of 2012. As a nation we tend to just stop when it snows
Due to popular demand (and the recession is not over yet, they’re still a lot cheaper, and we have soooo many still left over) the bear is back for 2014! Yay!
Yet again we’ve beaten the BAFTAs (Feb 16th) and the Oscars (Mar 2nd) to the punch. Losers!
Unbelievably this is the fifth time we’re running this event.

Hello…
HELLO!
Ah, hello. You’ve finally dragged your eyes away from the image on the left then…? You’ve gone again haven’t you? Damn it! I knew I shouldn’t have mentioned it. It is rather captivating though isn’t it?
As promised earlier this week here is an update for the SAG Awards itself in 2004. It was, as previously discussed, held in late February of that year.
This was Kathryn’s first appearance at the the SAG Awards, which was first held in 1995.
The photo above gives one of the clearest views of Kathryn’s tattoo we’ve seen. As you no doubt know, although the figure looks like a superhero he is a representation of Kathryn’s late friend, mentor and manager Elliot. It is not, as the co-host from the Latin American chat show Ya es 1/2 dia en China suggested, “buzz light”.
Along with 22 more red carpet photos we also have some small shots of Kathryn presenting the award for best actor in a comedy. Her co-presenter is Mark Harmon, star of CBS (which also broadcast Cold Case) drama NCIS and co-star with Kathryn in the movie Never Let Her Go. And, we have 3 short red carpet videos, including a brief interview. All that good stuff can now be found in the KM UK the Gallery.
I must make special mention of Alexia of Emilia Fox Online for providing me with the wonderful image above.
