Kathryn Developing Casino Drama For Lifetime

lifetime_logo_170x770.png

Deadline.com is reporting that Kathryn is working on a new drama for the Lifetime network.

Princess Of Whales, based on the true story of Las Vegas casino hostess Marcia Hartman, is being developed by writer Stephen Kronish (24 and The Kennedys) and Kathryn through her Revival House company.  Revival House is a new name for us.  Just recently we reported on the apparent abandonment of Kathryn’s Hotplate Productions trademark.

Kathryn, Stephen and Josh Gold (development executive) are said to be executive producing along with Paul Frank, Jeff Kwatinetz and Rich Frank.  Fox TV Studios is producing.

Kathryn will likely not be acting in the show.

More news as we get it.

Hotplate Goes Cold?

Artist extraordinaire Smallbarbie has turned supersleuth again by tracking down another lead.

According to the information Smallbarbie found on the TradeMarkia website, Kathryn’s Hotplate Productions company has not renewed the trademark on its name as per the normal 6 month schedule.  The last update was in November last year.

First registered in June 2007, the trademark has lapsed into an “abandoned” state after no extension was filed last month.  This could be the result of an oversight, it has been correctly done previously, but it could also be deliberate.  We’ve not heard of any new projects from Hotplate since this site exclusively revealed that the TV show Sendera, a co-production with Eva Longoria’s company, was not picked up by the ABC network earlier this year.

Hotplate Productions was original formed by Kathryn with her then partner, Cold Case producer/director, David Barrett.

What this could mean for Kathryn’s plans to work more behind the cameras is not clear.  Of course, we here at KM UK wish her the best in all her future endeavours.

Thanks to Smallbarbie for the heads-up.

Exclusive! Sendera Didn’t Make The Cut

Danny Pino and Tracie Thoms have got themselves bookings on new show pilots.  Sadly, for our other Cold Case favourite’s new show it is not looking so good.

In the past few weeks there has been a lot of reports about new programmes and the actors signed up to take part in them.  One show has been notable by its absence: Sendera.  Sendera is the “night time soap” being developed by Kathryn’s Hotplate Productions in collaboration with Eva Longoria’s UnbeliEVAble Entertainment.  The last we heard a script had been commissioned by ABC.

The lack of news lead me contact the fount of all knowledge on such matters: Deadline.com‘s Nellie Andreeva for an update.  According to her the lack of news is a bad sign.  Nellie didn’t go into detail but I surmise that the project is dead.

Thanks again to Nellie for her assistance.

Sendera?

Yes, Sendera.  That’s the title of the soap opera that Kathryn and Eva Longoria Parker are co-producing for the ABC television network in the US.  The one Kathryn mentioned in an interview at the Environmental Media Association Awards earlier this year. The signing of the deal has been on the cards for over a month but it must now have been completed.

Kathryn’s Hotplate Productions, Eva’s UnbeliEVAble Entertainment and ABC Studios are co-creating the drama about two wealthy families, one either side of the Texas-Mexico border, and their on-going feud.

It seems that Kathryn, Alan Barnette, Josh Gold and Sally Robinson (script writer) developed the show with Eva and Virginia Trinkle (Unbelievable) joining Kathryn, Alan and Sally as executive producers.

It may be unrelated but there is a neighbourhood of Oak Hill in Austin, Texas called Sendera.  The word is also Catalan for “path”.

Read the story, as broken by Nellie Andreeva, at Deadline.com.  Variety have their take on the story here.

KM/ELP Co-Production

In one of the interviews Kathryn gave at the recent Environmental Media Association Awards she mentioned a “night time soap” she was producing with Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria Parker.

I’ve been trying to track down more on this show since then.

No details so far but I understand that the deal with ABC to buy the show that Kathryn referred to is not quite done, yet.

I expect more news on this soon.
