Cold Case Cast Catch-up – September 2012

tracie_thoms_looper_001_430x180It’s September 2012’s round-up of news regarding the other cast-members of Cold Case.

Kicking off with the ever loopy, I mean lovely, Tracie Thoms.  Well, I say “loopy” because her latest film role is due to hit the big screens at the end of this month across most of the world.  The film is called Looper and stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception and 3rd Rock From The Sun), Bruce Willis (Die Hard) and Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada, which Tracie had small role in).  Beyond what we’ve seen in the photo above, other similar ones and a handful of frames in a trailer, the extent of Tracie’s role as Beatrix is not known.  Looper received it’s world première at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month.  Still no news on the release date for the kidnapped-women-forced-to-fight-each-other movie Raze that Tracie made earlier this year.  And no doubt Tracie has been involved in a dozen other events and projects since our last update.  She’s a very busy lady!

In the previous CCCC-up we extended the scope a little to include Veena Sud and Liz Garcia.  Both women had significant behind-the-cameras positions on Cold Case and there was news of major projects for both them.  Well, this time we can mention Liz’s new film The Lifeguard again as, according to IMDb, John Finn has joined the cast as “Big Jason”.  Make of that what you will.  It’s set for release sometime next year and stars Kristen Bell of Veronica Mars fame.

Cold Case Cast Catch-up – August 2012 – Update

jeremy_ratchford_perception_001_430x180Another quick round-up of what is going on in the careers of the non-Kathryn members of the Cold Case cast since our last one of these in May.

Let’s start with Jeremy Ratchford (aka Nick Vera in Cold Case) for a change.  In that last update we noted that Mr Ratchford had made a very brief appearance in a promo video for the new TNT show Perception, starring Rachael Leigh Cook (Josie And The Pussycats and She’s All That) and Eric McCormack (Will & Grace).  At the time it was not clear whether Jeremy would be a show regular or a one-off guest star.  It could have gone either way.  The first episode involved FBI Agent Kate Moretti (Rachael) coming back to the city she spent much of her life in and she picked up a case of a certain Detective Hammond’s, Jeremy in a very Vera-like role.  The show could easily have been about Kate and Daniel (Eric) doing the same thing with Hammond on a regular basis but, as far as I am aware, it hasn’t happened again.  Det. Hammond has not reappeared in any episodes since.  Though having established a character like that in the show’s “universe” it could happen.  As an aside, the most recent episode of Perception used the building exterior Cold Case used for the Philadelphia Police Department as a Chicago hospital.  It was once a bank in an episode of Castle.  I presume that is is actually in LA somewhere.

Cold Case Cast Catch-up – May 2012

promo_002Another quick round-up of what is going on in the careers of the non-Kathryn members of the Cold Case cast.

Quite a lot has happened since our last update in February.

As covered previously Law & Order: SVU has been renewed for a 14th season so Danny Pino (Scotty Valens on Cold Case) will be returning as Detective Nick Amaro for his second season.  The final episode of Danny’s first season aired last night (23rd May 2012) in America.  I won’t be doing any further screencaps of Danny in L&O:SVU as our friends at Danny Pino Online are doing a great job of covering it.

In the last of these type of updates I mentioned that the multi-talented Tracie Thoms (Kat Miller on Cold Case) was due to star in a big film due out in September.  A trailer has been released for that film, Looper, and it actually has Tracie in it.  It is a very brief of as she, a waitress in a diner, gives Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception) an “oh la la”.  Whether Tracie’s role extends much beyond that is not known at this stage.  She is reasonably high up the cast list on IMDb and her character has a name: Beatrix.  Both of which are a step up from Safe House for her.  You can see a copy of the trailer HERE on YouTube.  Tracie appears at the 36 second mark.

Cold Case Cast Catch-up – Feb 2012

promo_002A quick round-up of what is going on in the careers of the non-Kathryn members of the Cold Case cast.

First up, Danny.  As we all know he’s on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.  It seems to be going well for him and fellow newcomer Kelli Giddish.  Joining a long established show, effectively replacing a much loved character and actor cannot have been easy.  I’m sure that some die-hard fans will not accept such a change but from what I’ve read the audience figures are strong and many do seem to like the contribution Danny and Kelli have made so far.  There is no news on other work by Danny to report on at this time.

Who’s next?

Jumping On The Bandwagon

001Every so often here on KM UK we like to report on what Kathryn’s Cold Case co-stars are up to since the cop show ended.  Today it’s time to give a little love to Tracie Thoms.

I’m a little late jumping on this particular… errrr… bandwagon :-)

This year Tracie has been involved in web-based series called Bandwagon, starring Emma Caulfield (Buffy The Vampire Slayer) and Yvette Nicole Brown (Community).  It’s a comedy mockumentary based around Emma’s actress character looking for a cause to support.  She wants to use the campaigning it to bolster her flagging career.  Tracie plays a friend of Emma.

Originally Bandwagon started back in 2004 as a low-budget movie and involved Emma helping a “developmentally disabled girl get into show business.”  Last year it was released for free on the web as a set of short episodes.  This year a 2nd season has been produced and, again, made available freely via YouTube.  Emma recently announced that this new season 2 has been renamed to season 1 and season 1, as was, would be called Bandwagon: The Movie.  Still with me?

Each episode is around 10 minutes long so you can get one watched if you have a small time gap to fill and fancy a laugh.  And with Bandwagon season 2 season 1 reaching its end with a two-part finale starting next Wednesday you haven’t got long if you want to catch up.

Check out the show via the official website.  Purchase something in the online store and get a treat.  Lots of things are available, from a Twitter ‘shoutout’ to a job as an extra.
