 Welcome to our final look for 2013 at the careers of other members of the Cold Case cast in what we like to call our Cold Case Cast Catch-up, or CCCC-up for not very short.
Due to her prodigious work rate and willingness to Tweet about it we’ll start, as usual, with Tracie Thoms aka Kat Miller in CC. I believe that Tracie has completed filming on Annie, the Sony Pictures remake of the musical. She was photographed by the paps in early December filming on the streets of NY and was back home in LA last week. Of course Tracie may not have fully completed her work on the project. There could still be re-shoots, studio based filming, and audio work to do. It would be quicker to list who is not in this re-telling of the Annie story, suffice to say it is an all-star cast. See a previous CCCC-up for a few more details. The film is expected to be released a year from today on the 19th December 2014. Raze, the Zöe Bell starring fighting females movie, has finally got a release date for the US cinemas. It is the 10th January 2014. It originally premièred back in April at the Tribeca Film Festival. Also starring Rachel Nichols (G.I. Joe) and Sherilyn Fenn (Twin Peaks), Raze is about a group of women incarcerated against their will and forced into unarmed, to-the-death combat with each other. Clearly not a comedy as this brutal new trailer shows. Rachel also appears, albeit very briefly if reports are to be believed, in another film of Tracie’s: McCanick. David Morse is Eugene ‘Mack’ McCanik, an out of control cop hunting for a young criminal played by the late Cory Monteith (Glee Club) in his final role. It looks like McCanik is already out on DVD and Blu-ray in Australia but a theatre showing is expected in the US in the new year. In the last couple of days Tracie has Tweeted from Germany. She’s there as part of a series of events put on to entertain American troops stationed abroad. Not surprisingly, in Germany in this case. Tracie is billed alongside the likes of Gary Cole (Veep) and Raven Symone (That’s So Raven). The AITAF (Arts In The Armed Forces) is behind the trip. It is their mission to “honor, educate, inspire, and entertain all active duty and veteran members of the United States Armed Forces and their families by engaging them in the power and social service of the performing arts“.  We’re cutting it a bit fine this month! 
A week after our CCCC-up for April 2013 the US TV network NBC announced that Law & Order: Special Victims Unit would be renewed for a 15th season. Danny Pino (Scotty Valens in Cold Case) will be continuing in his post-Cold Case role of Det. Nick Amaro. The order is a for a full 22 episode season. Last year the same thing happened and two more episodes were added later. The pick-up for L&O:SVU‘s 14th season was much in doubt with lead actress Mariska Hargitay and the studio playing chicken in a chicken-and-egg situation to see who jumped first. Without Mariska’s signature would the network agree to a new season? But unless there was the promise of a new season why would Mariska sign? That was sorted out but this time things were different. The show was renewed while negotiations continued with Mariska. On Monday (27th May 2013) it was announced that she would be returning. Good news for all her and the show’s many fans.

 Tracie Thoms tends to dominate these updates as she is so prolific and varied in her work. However, we’ll start with someone else for a change.
First we’ll deal with one of our least talked about Cold Case alumni: Jeremy Ratchford (Nick Vera in CC). In the couple of weeks spanning the end of February and the beginning of March Jeremy was involved in a new movie called Death Valley. Apart from the fact that the main cast members include Katrina Law (Spartacus: Blood And Sand / War Of The Damned), Victoria Pratt (Mutant X), Lochlyn Munro (True Justice) and Kelly Hu (Sunset Beach), and it was filmed in the actual Death Valley (and elsewhere), we really don’t know anything about it. Oh, except that Jeremy’s character is called Lucas Shore.
And back to Tracie Thoms. Raze; a movie starring Zoë Bell (Lost), Rachel Nichols (Resurrecting the Champ, G.I. Joe), Sherilyn Fenn (Twin Peaks) and Tracie (err…); finally gets it’s world première this weekend (Sunday, 21st April 2013) as part of the Tribeca Film Festival. A trailer for the film was recently released and can be seen on YouTube. It is not for the faint of heart. You have been warned. Three weeks ago Tracie wrapped filming on the Gothica TV pilot for the ABC network. See our previous post for more details on the show. Everyone involved now faces the agonising wait until the official announcements about pilot pick-ups. ABC has had far more of a clear-out of shows than Surgeon General‘s CBS so there is bit more room on the autumn schedules for fresh blood, but the network has s lot of pilots on the books so there are no guarantees. Update: Forgot to add that Tracie appeared in an episode of the Person Of Interest in early April. It was episode 19 of the current 2nd season and was titled “Trojan Horse”. From the looks of a plot summary Tracie had a significant role as the main ‘person of interest’.
Finally a quick reminder that at the beginning of next month (May 2013) the Texas Chainsaw 3D movie in which Thom Barry stars will be out on DVD and Blu-ray, in the US and UK at least.
 Following on from Monday’s Cold Case screencap catch-up this month’s CCCC-up is going to be another Tracie Thoms-centric one. And for that we make no apology. We thought we’d go with a photo of Thom Barry though to head the piece for a change.
However, before we get to the main course we’ll serve up the gentlemen as an amuse-bouch.
Texas Chainsaw 3D, Thom Barry‘s most recent movie role is due for release on DVD and Blu-ray in May in the US and UK, see your local stockists for details on the dates in your area. The latest in a long line of ‘Chainsaw‘ movies this one’s excuse involves a woman visiting the town of the original massacre in the 1970s. She’s gone to claim an inheritance which turns out to be a house with a dark secret. It’s probably in the basement because that’s where sort of thing is normally kept, or the attic. Either way the woman and her friends do a lot of running about and laughing… No, not laughing, screaming. It’s like laughing only with more blood. Tania Raymonde (Lost and a recurring role in season 6 of Cold Case) was amongst the happy few flailing about in the dark. Thom Barry was Sheriff Hooper, almost certainly named after Tobe Hooper the writer and director of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Thom starred in an episode of the TV show Blue Bloods that aired back in mid-January. Some how we missed that from the previous CCCC-up. Bit of a C*C*-up. He was an Assistant District Attorney (ADA) in the New York-set cop drama starring Donnie Wahlberg (Rizzoli & Isles), Bridget Moynahan (Gray Matters) and Tom Selleck (Magnum PI). The episode was directed by David Barrett (aka One Of The Lucky Ones).

After such a busy January focussing on our headline act (that’s Kathryn) we managed to not do a post like this. So, we’ll get one in early for February 2013. It is time for another quick round-up of news on the other members of the Cold Case cast.
The banner image clearly wants us to talk about Tracie Thoms (Det. Kat Miller in Cold Case) first, and we wouldn’t want to go against its will now would we? At the end of January the ever-busy Tracie had a one night stand, that is to say that a feature film she starred in had a single night viewing across the US. Further explanation is clearly necessary. A 2009 (released in 2011) documentary film called One Night Stand: Creating A Play In A Day charting the creation of four musicals in just one day had a special nationwide showing in over 400 cinemas on the 30th of January. Groups of writers, directors, composers and actors created, wrote and rehearsed short musicals. After just 24 hours they had to perform their pieces. Staying with Tracie, she recently had a guest starring role in the already cancelled CW network TV series Emily Owens M.D. Thirteen episodes of the medical drama were produced. All will be aired and that will be that. Tracie was in episode 11, Emily And The Teapot. The lead actress in Emily Owens M.D. is Mamie Gummer. Daughter of a little known actress called Meryl Streep.
