Thom Barry Cast In New Movie

Of the all Cold Case cast we like Kathryn the best here of course, but I think we all have a big soft spot for Thom Barry.  And we haven’t mentioned him here nearly enough.  So, to go some way to correct that, here is some news about an upcoming role for the gentle giant.

Thom’s quiet authority and screen presence has seen him play lawmen on many occasions in his career and now he’s going to do it again in a sequel to the horror classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.  Thom has been cast as Sheriff Hooper, surely a nod to Tobe Hooper, the director of the original version.

Short-lived Cold Case guest star Tania Raymonde (more famous for her role of Benjamin Linus’ daughter in the TV series Lost) also stars.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D is due for release by Lionsgate in October 2012.  You can read more about the announcement on ComingSoon.net.

Thanks to IcyWinter for the heads-up.

Danny Gets SVU Gig – 400th Post!

Last week we found out that Danny Pino (Scotty Valens in Cold Case) was taking part in auditions for a new role on the long-running series Law & Order: SVU.  Danny was up against at least 4 other actors so it was always going to be a difficult ask.

So it is great news that Danny got the job.  He and Kelli Giddish will be playing new detectives when the show returns.  Congratulations to them both.

The Deadline website reports.

As a sidenote this is the 400th post on KM UK.  Yeah us! 😎

Danny Up For SVU Role

We continue our “other Cold Case alumni posts to start the week with” theme with news that Danny Pino is apparently testing for the lead in Law & Order: SVU to replace the Chris Meloni.

Danny’s up against at least 4 other actors for the role so good luck to Danny.

The always on the ball Deadline website report in full HERE.

Don’t worry, we’ll be returning to Kathryn-related posts a little later.

Deadline Interviews Veena Sud

Something a little different to start the week.

Veena Sud; writer, producer and executive producer on Cold Case; has found new success with AMC’s The Killing.  Veena is executive producing the show which is based on a Danish drama series.  Recently it was announced that a second season had been commissioned.

In an interview with Deadline‘s Diane Haithman, Veena talks about The Killing, comparisons with Cold Case and Lilly Rush, being a female showrunner and her own interest in being a homicide detective.

the character of Lilly Rush was very different from what we had seen before; she certainly didn’t show up in miniskirts, she dressed like a cop in a suit and pants.

You can read the interview in full on the Deadline.com website HERE.

Tracie Wonders About The Future No More

001Sadly it looks like the pilot for the new Wonder Woman series, which starred Cold Case alumni Tracie Thoms, has not been picked up for a full series, as Nellie Andreeva over at Deadline.com reports.  It is not an official announcement, they don’t tend to do that, but Deadline is rarely wrong.  See the full article HERE.

In that same report you will see mention that “an order for Stephen Gaghan’s sprawling drama Metro is considered extremely unlikely too.”  This is bad news for Danny Pino as this is the show that was previously known as S.I.L.A. or Special Investigations L.A.

It has not been a good few months for a trio of Cold Case stars returning to TV as the drama series that Kathryn was co-producing never got beyond the script stage.
