Texas On Hold’em – Where Is This Roadshow Going?

screening_poster_20110407_austin_texasKathryn was a no-show in Austin last night.  In fact the whole event appears to have not happened at all.

Asher Levin (writer/director of Cougars, Inc.) had posted on the Facebook page on Monday about the event.  Yesterday I asked him if he was in or was heading off to Texas in the hope of finding out if Kathryn would be there.  He replied:

we’ll be in austin later this month. Along with some more towns all over the country. More info to follow… – Link

I tried to confirm that he really meant that they were not going to be at Maggie Mae’s for the events he previously informed us about (nearly a week after KM UK broke the news) and were listed on the venue’s website (and still is at time of writing).  No answer was forthcoming.

On several occasions Asher has asked for people to suggest towns for them to visit as part of a roadshow throughout April.  This has garnered some responses, one of which was answered with something along the lines of “you organize it and we’ll be there”.  This suggests to me that there are few, if any, events already organised.  We are a week in to April and the one screening that was supposed to happen didn’t.  Are we likely to get more than one event per week in the remaining three?  What are the chances of significant cast members being able to commit time to events not organised much in advance?

I fear the wheels are falling off this roadshow.  Hopefully I’m wrong.

Update: Asher has posted another message asking for suggestions on places to visit.

Kathryn To Be At Austin Screening?

screening_poster_20110407_austin_texasA quick follow-up on the news KM UK broke last week about the forthcoming Texas screening of Cougars, Inc.

The website of Historic Maggie Mae’s bar in Austin, Texas has been updated to include details about the 2 days of events.  It opens with a “Make-A-Cougar-Hollar” (what ever that means!) cast party on Thursday night with the stars bartending.  Friday is the screening followed by another party.

The Austin Chronicle website has a listing for the event.  They’ve got the dates wrong (6th & 7th instead of 7th & 8th) and imply that many of the cast will be present, including Kathryn and Denise.  It is not clear if it is just a listing of the cast names that readers may recognise or a guest list.  At this stage we don’t know.

So far no news is available on any further screenings.  Let us know if you hear anything.

Update: A couple of promotional images from the Maggie Mae’s website have been added to the Gallery.  They give filmography details on the some of the film’s cast members.

Exclusive! Cougars, Inc. 3D – April Fool

The Cougars are Comin’ At Ya!

Today is the day that Cougars, Inc. is officially released to the world, or at least the North American parts of it, via on-demand services after its première last night.  On the 10th of May the same region will be able to get our hands on the DVD and Blu-ray versions (21st April in Germany).  But you may want to hold off on that hard copy purchase for now…

box_art_3dKM UK can exclusively reveal that two weeks after the discs are available a very special Blu-ray edition will be announced:  Cougars, Inc. 3D.  All the fun of the original but with added depth!

Filming was not done using 3D cameras so the effect has had to be added in post-production using a technique known as advanced proportional rectified interlace level field optical over layering.  This is a complicated procedure that extracts depth information from 2D images and re-applies it in certain ways to create the stereoscopic effect.  The time it has taken to perfect this technique is one of the reasons the movie was not released as widely expected in December 2010.

New 3D-effect box art had been created for Cougars, Inc. 3D and KM UK has been able to obtain a leaked copy of it, as you can see on the right.  A larger version is now in the Gallery.

Cougars, Inc. To Get Hollywood Première Tonight? – Update x4

promo_001(16:30BST) I am hearing talk that Cougars, Inc. will be premièred tonight (31 March 2011) at an event in Hollywood.

No specifics just yet but it does tally with the date that has appeared in various places, including the Wikipedia entry for the film, in the past.  It may more of a private function, assuming it is happening at all.

The screening in Austin, Texas was down as a première but no longer is.

Update (18:30BST): The evidence is mounting. Debbie Levin (a relative of Asher) and Cisco Adler (music writer on Cougars) have Tweeted about the première.  Denise Richards appears to be on holiday so she is unlikely to be present.

Update 2 (18:40BST): I think this about clinches it.  A Tweet and Facebook posting by Asher Levin.

Update 3 (19:40BST): I was waiting for further confirmation but now we have some.  Party organiser Adam Glove says in a Tweet that the after party will happen in the Supperclub venue.  The première itself will happen at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood.  No word yet on attendees from the cast.

Update 4 (21:30BST): I’ve been told that it is believed that Kathryn WILL be at the première.  Great news!  Thanks to Gabriel @ Reelist Productions.

Cougars, Inc. Screening – Austin, Texas
