Reverie Episode Count

artwork_002The latest news on the Reverie-front is the first season episode count.

Apparently the sci-fi-ish virtual reality-based drama procedural (there’s a bit of guess work involved there) is due to have just 10 episodes in its première run, which is likely due to start next year.

As things stand at present Reverie is scheduled to be part of the NBC network’s ‘mid-season’ releases.  That could change though.  In the event of another show (new or existing) that starts in autumn/fall being cancelled a mid-season show could be brought in as a replacement.

Also, if a mid-season show proves to be a big success after an episode or two, more could be ordered to extend the run.

You Get Me Trailer

title_001Ahead of its première at the upcoming LA Film Festival, Awesomeness Films has released a trailer for the teen drama You Get Me.

That first showing of the movie is due to happen on the 16th of June, a week from today, as I reported a couple of weeks ago.  After that the film will take up residence on the Netflix streaming service, which bought the rights a few months ago.

trailer_001Slightly worryingly, recently made available press material has not included any references to Kathryn in the named cast.  She, however, has remained listed on the film’s IMDb page through various updates and additions.  Mixed signals.

So, do we get a glimpse of Kathryn in this short trailer video?  No, we don’t.  Not surprisingly the two minute long video focuses on the main teenage cast and giving away the main plot line.  That’s what trailers are for these days.

Hopefully there will be other trailers released at a later date giving a fuller picture.

You Get Me To Première At LA Film Fest

la_film_festival_logo_942x1461A somewhat surprising turn of events.

Teen drama You Get Me will be premièred at the LA Film Festival on Monday the 19th of June.

But wait, you might say, a film being first shown at a film festival is hardly an usual occurrence.  It is practically the law  :-)

But, we found out earlier this year that Netflix had taken up Awesomeness Films, Bella Thorne-lead movie.  Making it an exclusive to their media streaming platform as part of a multi-project deal.

That date may trigger a thought or two as well.

The 16th of June was due to be the day that You Get Me first appears on Netflix.  To make way for the LA Film Festival première the online release has been pushed back to the 23rd of the month.

So, a future-looking service like Netflix has delayed the release of a new film in favour of the more traditional film festival route.  Next they’ll be announcing it will be available exclusively at Blockbuster video stores on Betamax cassettes 5 years after hitting the silver screen.  I am old enough to remember all those things :-(

Very little press material has been released about You Get Me so there isn’t much more to say about the film even at this late stage.  We still don’t know the role Kathryn plays, not even the first name of her character.

The première screening is due to start at 9:25pm at the ArcLight 8 cinema in Santa Monica.

Reverie Trailer

trailer_001A promotional trailer for Reverie has escaped into the wild.  The two minute long piece gives, as expected, a pretty good over view of the set up, plot, and style of the show.

In another good news/bad news situation Kathryn does not appear, at all.

Reverie To Be ‘Mid-Season’ (boo!)

artwork_001As NBC can give and NBC can, not so much take away, but move to one side.

On Friday we got the official statement that the new NBC network VR-based drama series Reverie had been selected from the many to become a series.

Last night that statement gained a ‘but’.

The primetime schedules were released showing where each existing and new programme would fit into the 8pm – 11pm lives of the American television viewers in September.

Notable by its absence was the Mickey Fisher (Extant) created, Sarah Shahi (Person Of Interest) starring, Reverie.  This meant the show would be held over to be a ‘mid-season’ release instead.

Mid-season is purposefully vague.  If things go well for the planned line-up then Reverie will likely not see the light of day until the new year.  However, if something happens, such as a new show absolutely tanking in the ratings (that’s a bad thing) then Reverie could be brought in off the subs bench to fill in.  It would suggest a relatively short series order initially too.

So, not great news but a little disappointing after the great news that Reverie had been selected to become a series.

Network promotional ‘Upfront’ events have been happening today (15th May) in New York.  At the time of publishing Reverie has not really featured but Sarah and co-star Dennis Haysbert (24) are present.  Kathryn does not appear to be.
