Happy Mother’s Day – Updated

wallpaper_266_1600x1200_ginaFrom everyone here at KM UK

To our great shame it seems to have been a few years since we did this.

The complication of the varying time that Mother’s Day/Mothering Sunday happens in different countries and cultures around the world, and the limited relevance to this site, makes celebrating the occasion here difficult.  This is an England-based site and here we have the day in March.  In America it is today.

Site policy means we stay clear of Kathryn’s private life but we could not ignore her becoming a mother to twin boys in 2013.  This gave us a good excuse to start marking the US version of Mother’s Day.

So, having said all that Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers around the world.

To help decorate today’s post I’ve used an image created by friend of the site Gina You can find the picture, and many, many others in the Fan Art section of the Gallery.

johnny_twitter_018_20180513If you want to have any of your Kathryn-related works of art displayed on this site then please contact me.

Update:  Father to Kathryn’s twin boys Johnny Messner posted a message on social media with a picture, as seen here:

This says It all!!! The rest will be to her! Best momma ever ! Pulled trolls out of nowhere on their 4th Birthday within 20 minutes!!! Cyborg momma

Love you momma !!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATHRYN!

banner_176_752x497_dianekmfanHappy Birthday Kathryn!

To you from everyone that visits KM UK

A gentleman doesn’t discuss a lady’s age but suffice to say Kathryn is… lovely as always.

To help us celebrate this special day we are lucky to have dedicated fans who are willing to create art works just for the site.  The banner above has been created by the also January-born Diane.  Nice use of the recent photo from the New York Comic Con there.

The image has been added to the KM UK fan art gallery. which has over 700 items across banners, wallpapers, avatars, drawings, videos, and buttons.  If you would like to have your work added please contact me.  They can be event specific (birthday, Xmas, thanksgiving etc.) or general.  There is a huge amount of material in the gallery to use in compositions.

Boston Herald’s Cold Case Revival

still_001Reacting to the news that the NBC network in America is considering reviving The Office (the US version of course), Mark Perigard of the Boston Herald newspaper has put forward his own thoughts on shows that should be brought back.

Mark, the TV critic for the Boston Herald, has his misgivings about The Office but can understand the wish to return to past glories after the success of the recent new Will & Grace season, and the soon returning, already resurrected, The X-Files.

Continuing his article, Mark puts forward five other shows he thinks are worth considering.  Obviously based on the existence of this post and its title, Cold Case is one of them.  We’ll come to that in moment, because visitors to this site may be interested to note two other choices Mark makes.

Cop drama The Shield is first up.  Our connection to that show is Danny Pino (Scotty Valens in CC) had a guest starring role in four episodes just before joining Cold Case.

Secondly we have Xena: Warrior Princess.  As Mark says, there have been talk of a revival of Xena in recent years but the plans came to nought.  Kathryn, of course, had a major role in two episodes of Xena as Najara.  It may only have been that double appearance but the character had a wider effect on the relationship between Xena and her side-kick Gabrielle.

Lastly Mark talks about Cold Case.  This is what he wrote:

A series that was a cut above crime procedurals, “Cold Case” (2003-2010) featured a group of Philadelphia detectives investigating murders unsolved sometimes for decades and featured moving flashbacks and the original music of the day, including Ray Charles, the Doors and Bruce Springsteen. “Cold Case” is also one of the few TV series that has never been released to DVD, allegedly because of the onerous issue of music rights involved. I think we would all feel safer knowing Detective Lilly Rush — and star Kathryn Morris — was back on the job.

Here, here.

KM UK did its own pitch for a new Cold Case season back in July.

You can read Mark Perigard’s piece in full on the Boston Herald website HERE.

Reverie @ NYCC Is Bleeding Cool

artwork_002Reports from the New York Comic Con event of the previous weekend are starting to spring up.

As we know the cast of the new ABC drama series Reverie attended the ‘con’, took part in a discussion panel after a screening of the pilot, and also conducted individual interviews with members of the press.

The Bleeding Cool website has an article by Adi Tantimedh who, after a explanation of Reverie‘s premise describes it thus:

This is one of the more ambitious shows this season. It’s not another cop show or another soldier show. It’s about tragedy, loss, and empathy. It’s about the desire to escape from the trauma and sadness of life into a dream world, and the need to connect with humanity and emotion.

Adi goes on to give quotes from each main actor (Sarah Shahi, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Jessica Lu, Dennis Haysbert), creator Mickey Fisher, and producer Tom Szentgyorgi.  Of course Kathryn is there too.  Here is what she said about Reverie and her character Monica Shaw from the Department Of Defense:

I thought this show is a beautiful execution of a psychological thriller within this emotional landscape in the world of virtual reality. It’s not like a typical Sci Fi show where the emotions come later. It’s a tangible take on the power of virtual reality. And nobody does it better than Amblin. My character lives in a grey area of Light and Dark in the way the government uses things for their own purposes.

You can read Adi Tantimedh’s full piece HERE and a follow-up article on how the show is about finding a human connection HERE.

Happy 4th Birthday Boys

Happy Birthday to Jameson & Rocco

4 years old!  Blimey!  They’re practically men already!  Kids grow up so fast these days!

Yes, Kathryn and Johnny Messner’s twin boys are celebrating their 4th birthday today.  I’m sure they’ve been spoilt rotten with gifts and messages on their special day.  This is KM UK’s small contribution to that.

Just the other day we had Tracie Thoms (Kat Millar on CC) to pass on birthday wishes to, and at the beginning of the month it was Jeremy Ratchford’s turn.  So many august occasions in August!
