Grand Prix For The Petite Dame?

rtl_le_grand_prix_des_series_tv_2013_150x94Our friends to south of the English Channel (they probably have a different name for it) are holding an annual competition about the TV shows and actors they like.  They get a chance to vote for Kathryn.

The French TV station RTL and the weekly Télé 2 semaines magazine are running various polls to determine the fans’ favourite actors, actresses and TV shows.  There are actually categories of each type to native French and foreign entries separately.

Kathryn gets a look-in as a foreign actress for her lead role Cold Case.  Obviously Cold Case is not made any more but these polls are based around broadcasts in France during 2012.  Season 7 of CC was shown on the France 2 network during that time.  Cold Case itself does not appear in the list of foreign shows.

You can find Kathryn’s name in the list on this page.  Tick the box, type in the word at the bottom of the page, and click “Voter”.  Simples.

Based on past experience the French people appear to very much appreciate Kathryn, but every vote counts so please vote for her.  The polls close on the 11th of January 2012 at 5pm French time (4pm GMT) with the results to be declared on the 21st.

Kathryn Has A Sunny Composition

the_perfect_not_ep7_004I’ve spent quite a lot of time the past day or so trying to work out how to approach this post.  I just couldn’t seem to come up with a simple hook to get going.  So, let’s start just go through the facts from the beginning.

The ever vigilant Kareen_T spotted Kathryn making an oh-so brief cameo in a video recently posted on YouTube.  The 5 minute long clip is of a clearly very talent musician playing the piano in a shop called Accident & Artifact in San Francisco, California.  The pianist’s name is Srawat “Sunny” Promyotin, CEO of Black Media.

The piece Sunny is playing is the 7th in a series of improvised pieces with the collective name of The Perfect Note.  After Sunny completes his performance the camera pans around to find our favourite lady sat near by.  She smiles that wonderful smile of hers, waves to the camera, and claps.  What’s all that about?  It is very curious.

When Heather Met Kathryn

on_set_001Everyone meet Heather.  Heather, everyone.  Everyone, Heather.  She’s the one on the right.

“Heather Coxx” is someone KM UK met on Twitter.  She has a story about meeting Kathryn and she agreed to write about it and share it with us all.

So, without further ado here is Heather in her own words:

I’m Heather Coxx, sixteen years old and born and raised in Cincinatti. I follow my lessons at the Walnut Hills High School and I’m one of the cheerleaders there!
Well, I became a fan of Kathryn Morris seven years ago, when I was nine. On a boring Sunday I watched my First Cold Case episode ever, ‘Committed’. I really liked it and couldn’t wait until the next Sunday. But when I saw ‘A Perfect Day’ I start to love Kathryn. She is an amazing actress. I wanted to know everything about her and saved every photo from her on my dads computer. I was a kind of little stalker I guess and people on school called me ‘obsessed’. Continue reading »

Confections… Finds The Sweeter Side Of Life

confections_of_a_discarded_womanFor a week or so now IMDb has been showing the film Confections Of A Discarded Woman with the alternative title of The Sweeter Side Of Life.  Depending on where you are in the world you may be seeing Sweeter… as the normal title with Confections… shown as the “original title.”

KM UK learnt more than a fortnight ago that The Sweeter Side Of Life was being considered as a new title but that the final decision was still to be made.  Director and co-writer (with his wife) Michael Damian‘s appearance last night on the LA Talk Radio show The Sheena Metal Experience confirmed the new title, which makes it official enough for us to post about it and update across the site accordingly.  Sweeter is the new confection.

Confections…/Sweeter… is a romcom about a newly divorced trophy wife (Desiree played by Kathryn) returning to her home town and working in the family bakery.  It is a TV movie due for release sometime next year by Hallmark on one of their US channels.

Only a small amount of Michael’s 45 minute-long chat with host Sheena involved the movie, most of the discussion was about his return to the daytime soap opera The Young And The Restless, which is big news apparently.

You can listen to the whole broadcast via the The Sheena Metal Experience page on the LA Talk Radio website.  You want the “Wednesday, September 26, 2012” entry.  Michael appears from around the 1 hour mark and mentions the film, Kathryn and co-star James Best (The Dukes Of Hazzard) 30 minutes later.

What do you think?  Better title? Worse title?  Fill in the poll below and let us know with a comment.

The poll closes on 11th October 2012 at 1pm UK time.

Which title do you prefer?

  • The Sweeter Side Of Life (71%, 10 Votes)
  • Confections Of A Discarded Woman (21%, 3 Votes)
  • I have a better one, see the comments (7%, 1 Votes)

Total Voters: 14

98th? That’s Just Not Cricket!

57539_kmorris2Over at the Bleacher Report website ‘Featured Columnist’ Thomas Delatte has put a little list together. You know the sort of thing: a top 10 or 100 of the best/worst/favourite/most hated things in a particular category.

Such lists are, of course, very subjective and prone to some odd entries based purely on the preferences of the writer.  This particular list stretches the whole idea to near breaking point though.

Thomas’s list is titled The 100 Hottest Sports Babes from Movies and TV.  Skipping past the rather un-PC “babes” we find a list of 100 actress that have starred in… you’ll never guess… movies and TV with sports-related themes.

I can’t really quibble with the ladies chosen or the order they’ve been placed in as it is down to the writer’s own tastes, though obviously I do have something of an issue with Kathryn’s lowly 98th place 😕

Kathryn earns her spot on the list based on having a role in Resurrecting The Champ, a film with some boxing in it.  Her female co-stars Teri Hatcher and Rachel Nichols also make the list, though somewhat higher up.  Teri at 72 (26 higher, really?) and Rachel makes the top 5.

My beef with the list relates to its title and the incredibly loose interpretation of movies and TV shows in the sports genre going far beyond the odd rogue entry.  The title “Sports Babes…” implies that the women are playing sports stars themselves, which in most cases they are not.  Few would argue that Invictus and Days Of Thunder are sports movies but The Love Guru?  OK, there’s a hockey player but it strikes me as just an excuse to shoe-horn Jessica Alba in.  Thomas must feel that he is on shaky ground with Fight Club as he has to stress that it is a sports movie.  It’s not.  And I’d put Jerry Maguire (which doesn’t star Kathryn, despite what some biogs say) on a similar level to Resurrecting The Champ (which does) in regard to the sporting content.  Yes, sports are the background to them but they are not really sports films.  If Kathryn’s scenes had made into Moneyball then things could have been different.  Her beach volleyball scenes in Pensacola: Wings Of Gold might have been more appropriate.  Quite why I’m arguing for Kathryn to be struck from the list I’m not sure 😕

Anyway, the whole thing is very tenuous.  Much like this post :-)

And there are no cricket themed movies in the list either.
