The Last Castle

the_last_castle_deleted_scene_020Ideally this post would be another of KM UK’s “Media Alerts” where I post about upcoming broadcasts of Kathryn’s work on British TV, like last week’s posting about A.I. Artificial Intelligence being on over the weekend.

The Rod Lurie (yes, him again) directed film The Last Castle gets its first airing in 18 months on the BBC here in little ol’ England (and Wales and Scotland) this coming Friday (13th Dec 2013) at the ungodly hour of 23:50.  Details of the BBC broadcast can be found on their website.  As KM UK has not covered The Last Castle in its four and a half year history this is a good excuse to finally do so.

The Coin – Newly Minted Trailer

poster_001Yesterday, Fabien Martorell, the director of the The Coin, released a new version of the trailer for the short film that stars Kathryn as a stressed mother and Christopher Lloyd (Back To The Future) as a homeless man.

You can see it HERE on Vimeo or a small version (as trailer 002) in the KM UK Gallery HERE.

Don’t be fooled by the “11 months ago” date on the Vimeo video, it is not the same as the one I posted about… not surprisingly, 11 months ago.  The new edit has directly replaced the old one on the video sharing site so the link and other details are the same as before.  You can tell it is different by the updated graphics (the new more colourful font for the stars names), the Big Bear Lake Film Festival award reference, and the recent quotes by the like of Darcell Carraway in LA Firm Magazine (as previously reported on KM UK here).

2 Br/1 Ba Teaser Trailers

on_set_20120927_009A little over a year has passed since we first heard about the film 2 Br/1 Ba, and slightly less since they finished filming it.  In the intervening period things have gone a bit quiet on the 2 Br/1 Ba front.  Those involved in the project have been very busy though.

trailer_001_alexa_vegaLead actress Alexa Vega (Spy Kids) has seen the release of Machete Kills, the follow-up to Robert Rodriguez’s Machete.  The original Machete film was based on one of a number of fake trailers for movies seen in the Robert Rodriguez/Quentin Tarantino film Grindhouse, which also starred Cold Case‘s Tracie Thoms.  The Machete character, as played by Danny Trejo (From Dusk Till Dawn), first appeared in the kids film Spy Kids which starred Alexa Vega and was directed by Robert Rodriguez.  Phew!  Is anyone following this?

trailer_002_spencer_grammerCo-lead actress Spencer Gammer (TV show Greek) on the other hand has done more TV work with a guest role on CSI early this year and new for autumn 2013 NBC drama Ironside.  Based on the long-running TV show from the 60s and 70s, starring Raymond Burr as a wheelchair-bound detective, the new Ironside has had a very short run indeed.  Just last week the network cancelled the show after only three episodes had aired.  I understand that one more will be shown this week before the show is replaced by repeats and a new programme in January.

Richard Riehle (Office Space) continues to be the hardest working man in Hollywood with far too many recent and upcoming projects to mention here.

But why single out those three? you ask.  Good question.  Because all of them can be seen in two short teaser trailers for 2 Br/1 Ba now available in the KM UK Gallery.  Sadly, other than her name being shown towards the end of each 40 second long piece Kathryn does not appear.  I’ve posted them because they give you some ideas as to the content and style of the film.

While we’re on the subject of those involved in 2 Br/1 Ba we’ll cover a couple of others.

2 Br/1 Ba Producer Tenille Houston (She Wants Me) starred in the much talked about film The Canyons.  Perhaps ‘notorious’ is a better word for it as the off-screen antics of star Lindsay Lohan was making headlines throughout filming.

Co-producer Kristen Ruhlin (She Wants Me and banner image) has also had a busy time of late.  She got married to this film’s director Rob Margolies earlier this year.  Thanks to a new podcast interview with Austin Mitchell (for English people of a certain age: not that one) for his Broken Legs podcast we’ve learnt that they are expecting their first child together in December.  Congratulations all round to Kristen & Rob.

In the interview (available HERE on iTunes, 2 Br/1 Ba is mentioned in the last 10 minutes of the lengthy chat) Kristen mentions that they are currently looking for a buyer for the film.  KM UK will, of course, let you know more when we can.

A Time For Heroes Celeb Carnival 2005

elizabeth_glaser_002The title of this occasion (or at least part of if) seemed a fitting follow-on from the anniversary marked yesterday of the 9/11 tragedies.  We should not forget that events like those are not just about those lost, but those that acted heroically in putting others first.

Of course, this particular charitable event we are looking at today was not about that day in September 2001.

‘Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation A Time For Heroes Celebrity Carnival’ is an annual event to raise funding and awareness for the cause of HIV and AIDS in children, focusing mainly on Africa and India.  Founder Elizabeth Glaser herself contracted HIV during a blood transfusion and unknowingly passed it on to her children.  Discovering that the then current treatments were solely aimed at adults drove her to set up the Pediatric AIDS Foundation.  Elizabeth spent the rest of her life advocating for the issue.

You can read more about the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation on their website HERE.

Back in June of 2005 Kathryn attended the Time For Heroes event.  Formal attire was clearly not required :-)  Not that Kathryn looked anything other than gorgeous in her more casual jeans, t-shirt, cardy and sneakers 😉

This is one that has been missing from the KM Gallery since its inception.  We’ll put that right today in some style with a small collection of photos and a couple of videos now in the Gallery.

Plush Back

plush_show_2013_017Amazingly nearly 8 weeks have passed since I posted about Kathryn attendance of the 2013 Plush event.  No doubt things have progressed a lot in that time with only a few weeks to go now until the big day.

In the time since the final update to the previous post I’ve managed to collect a few more photos and a couple of videos of Kathryn at Plush.  You will not be at all surprised to know that they are now in the Gallery.

The image seen above (no. 32) has been upgraded to a larger size and there are 10 new ones.  The two videos include “red (or should that be stained based on the event subject?) carpet” interviews.   Screencaps have been created of the main interview video.

Thanks to all those contacted KM UK about various images.

Update (2 Aug 2013): Additional video added.  It is an overview of the show.  Kathryn appears a couple of times but is seen and not heard.  I could make a comment that would get me into lots of trouble after that 😮  Gadget fans look out for the fun looking self-folding pushchair/stroller.  It’s a hybrid with an iPhone dock!
