Kathryn @ Ninten-do – October 2002

nintendo_003Welcome back to KM UK’s nostalgia corner.

We’re on the verge a new era of computer game consoles as Sony and Microsoft lock controllers in the battle to be the best of the 8th generation machines.  The Xbox One (stupid name for the 3rd version) and PlayStation 4 (predictable name for the fourth) will be both hit the shelves in the coming month, varying slightly depending on manufacturer and region.  I’ve not forgotten the Wii U launched a year ago, but everyone else appears to have done so.

Here we look back to the re-launch of a much loved 6th generation machine: the Nintendo GameCube.  By this time the PS2 had been around a couple of years.  The actual Xbox 1 was approaching it’s first anniversary, and the increasingly forgotten Sega Dreamcast was already ageing badly at 3.  Being ahead of your time doesn’t always go well.

Nintendo chose to give their GameCube a glittery make-over just prior to the beginning of the all-important holiday period in the United States.  The limited edition Platinum GC received a star-studded send off at Nintendo’s Gone Platinum Party, which took place on October 23rd, 2002.  Eleven years ago!

If you want to launch something cute and shiny, invite someone that really shines and is very cute.  Ladies and gentleman: Kathryn Morris.

See how it all ties up?  I don’t just throw this stuff together you know!

2 Br/1 Ba Teaser Trailers

on_set_20120927_009A little over a year has passed since we first heard about the film 2 Br/1 Ba, and slightly less since they finished filming it.  In the intervening period things have gone a bit quiet on the 2 Br/1 Ba front.  Those involved in the project have been very busy though.

trailer_001_alexa_vegaLead actress Alexa Vega (Spy Kids) has seen the release of Machete Kills, the follow-up to Robert Rodriguez’s Machete.  The original Machete film was based on one of a number of fake trailers for movies seen in the Robert Rodriguez/Quentin Tarantino film Grindhouse, which also starred Cold Case‘s Tracie Thoms.  The Machete character, as played by Danny Trejo (From Dusk Till Dawn), first appeared in the kids film Spy Kids which starred Alexa Vega and was directed by Robert Rodriguez.  Phew!  Is anyone following this?

trailer_002_spencer_grammerCo-lead actress Spencer Gammer (TV show Greek) on the other hand has done more TV work with a guest role on CSI early this year and new for autumn 2013 NBC drama Ironside.  Based on the long-running TV show from the 60s and 70s, starring Raymond Burr as a wheelchair-bound detective, the new Ironside has had a very short run indeed.  Just last week the network cancelled the show after only three episodes had aired.  I understand that one more will be shown this week before the show is replaced by repeats and a new programme in January.

Richard Riehle (Office Space) continues to be the hardest working man in Hollywood with far too many recent and upcoming projects to mention here.

But why single out those three? you ask.  Good question.  Because all of them can be seen in two short teaser trailers for 2 Br/1 Ba now available in the KM UK Gallery.  Sadly, other than her name being shown towards the end of each 40 second long piece Kathryn does not appear.  I’ve posted them because they give you some ideas as to the content and style of the film.

While we’re on the subject of those involved in 2 Br/1 Ba we’ll cover a couple of others.

2 Br/1 Ba Producer Tenille Houston (She Wants Me) starred in the much talked about film The Canyons.  Perhaps ‘notorious’ is a better word for it as the off-screen antics of star Lindsay Lohan was making headlines throughout filming.

Co-producer Kristen Ruhlin (She Wants Me and banner image) has also had a busy time of late.  She got married to this film’s director Rob Margolies earlier this year.  Thanks to a new podcast interview with Austin Mitchell (for English people of a certain age: not that one) for his Broken Legs podcast we’ve learnt that they are expecting their first child together in December.  Congratulations all round to Kristen & Rob.

In the interview (available HERE on iTunes, 2 Br/1 Ba is mentioned in the last 10 minutes of the lengthy chat) Kristen mentions that they are currently looking for a buyer for the film.  KM UK will, of course, let you know more when we can.

Cold Case Season 2 Promo Photo Embiggening

promo_006I can’t carry off the black polo next and blue jeans with quite the confidence of Steve Jobs but can bring a surprise “one more thing” to the KM UK Summer Of HD 2013, which ended last week.

It took me a while to remember why a long-standing reminder to update the Cold Case season 2 promo photos even existed.  The images are already in the Gallery and at quite a high resolution too.  I had forgotten that KM UK’s old hosting limited the image size.  The images had been shrunk to fit.  Part of the reason for making the move back in May of 2010 was to accommodate images of any size to bring you the best available.

As we have just finished a retrospective of Cold Case season 2 it makes sense to finally bring you a super-sized upgrade to the promo photos from that year.  Number two is a massive 3750×5000 pixels.  Plus, we have a new small photo (see above).

5 enlarged promo stills and 1 new addition can now be found in the Gallery.

Cold Case S02E23 – The Woods Full HD Screencaps

Cold_Case_S02E23_lilly_223Summer is not officially over in the UK and the English summer has rallied somewhat as we entered October.  Still, after five months we have finally come to the end of KM UK’s Summer Of HD 2013.  We’re going out in style though.

Normally I’d give a short précis of the episode here but this is The Woods.  ‘Nuff said.

405 Full HD (1080p) Lilly screencaps and 3 promo stills from the episode can now be found in the Gallery.

Join us in 2014 for the next instalment.

Kathryn @ Rape Treatment Center Benefit 2005

002I did consider coming up with an alternative title for this post to avoid the use of a potentially awkward word, but that would not be the right thing to do.  Such important issues should not be swept under the carpet to spare a few blushes.  Over the past year the issues around rape seems to have hit the headlines a lot because of certain strongly held views on women and women’s health issues.  Wrong views we should stress.

The latest edition of this event, an annual benefit and brunch for the Rape Treatment Center, Santa Monica, California, happened just last weekend (Sunday, 29 September) but we are heading back to 2005 when Kathryn attended.  As you can see above fellow CBS crime drama star Marg Helgenberger (Catherine Willows in CSI: Las Vegas) and were Kathryn’s two Cold Case co-stars Thom Barry and John Finn (see below right).

Unlike Kathryn, Marg will be back on CBS this season with a new action drama called Intelligence, co-starring Josh Holloway (Sawyer in Lost).  It is slated to start in February, once another new show Hostages completes it first season run.  Both shows have fewer episodes than many of the big networks high profile shows.

You can read more about the good works of the RTC at the the 911rape.org website.
