We are down to the last few as we approach the end of our summer journey through Cold Case season 3.
This week and next there will only be two to choose from. So, which is it to be episode 5 Committed or episode 22 The River?
We had another tie in last week’s poll. There was no way to separate the two so I’ve randomly chosen the winner as Frank’s Best, come back next Monday for that.
Is One Night a fan favourite? It puts you through the emotional wringer, covering some dark ground on the way to the happy conclusion.
The episode, number 16 of Cold Case‘s third season, is one of only 16 written by Veena Sud during her involvement with the show’s first five seasons. Veena also produced over 60 episodes. Since Cold Case Veena has gone on to develop, executive produce, and write for the American version of the drama series The Killing, which recently concluded with a short 4th season released on Netflix. As an aside Veena wrote and directed a short film called One Night back in 2000. It is not related in any way to this episode of Cold Case.
One Night is markedly different from most other Cold Case episodes in that it becomes a new and active case. A hot one. A man who won’t identify himself walks into the squad room and confesses to burying alive a teenage boy in 1980. His body was discovered and it remained an unsolved crime. Then he says there is a newly interred boy, likely still alive. Much of the rest of the episode is just Lilly and “John Doe”, played by the always busy Zeljko Ivanek (Heroes, Damages, Argo), either side of the table in the interrogation room. Tense stuff.
Will Lilly get the truth out of “John Doe” and rescue his latest victim in time? Did I mention the happy conclusion earlier?

‘Is it morally okay to pray your crush’s relationship doesn’t work out?’
Well… quite… A tricky one I’m sure you’ll agree.
As well as informing and entertaining, sometimes this site likes to make you think. Preferably something other than ‘is he really trying to be informative and/or entertaining?’
Long time visitor, not first time contributor, Gina has kindly volunteered some fan art she made for her Tumblr site to follow a trend of adding text posts to screencaps from top TV shows. Gina used screencaps from KM UK’s vast collection of Cold Case-themed images (see the Gallery) and so she forwarded copies of them to me to add to the site. Now the collection is even more vast! Thank you Gina.
Check out the five wallpapers in the Fan Art section of the Gallery.
Gina would more than welcome further additions by you, the Cold Case fans, to add her page here. If you use images from KM UK then please let me know as it would be great see how they being re-purposed.
On a side note, we have a not insignificant first anniversary coming up. If any one wants to help KM UK mark the occasion with some suitably themed fan art then I would be happy to show case them here. Any other submissions are more than welcome as well at any time. Contact me.
After the excitement of the week 15 poll, which went to a 3-way tie and ended on a tie between two episode, last week’s new poll ended with a clear winner: One Night. Get ready for new screencaps from that episode to be posted one night (see what I did there?) next week. Monday, in fact. And it will be around noon GMT.
Let’s see what happens with this set of three episodes. Which of Frank’s Best, Superstar and Death Penalty: Final Appeal will you choose this week?
The mother of a girl that died from falling down stairs just before her débutante ball tells the squad of her suspicions over a more recent case. Originally ruled to be an accident the teenager’s death in 1968 has similarities to that of an art dealer’s wife.
Lilly and co. have to investigate the superficial and competitive world of… débutante balls.
Last week’s posting about A Perfect Day marked the fact that in that episode Kat Miller (Tracie Thoms) was offered a permanent position in the homicide team. That’s as in the team that investigates the murders, not the alternative… Anyhoo, this episode, Début, saw Tracie being added to the show’s opening title sequence as a full cast member and not just a guest star.
KM UK Summer Of HD 2014 brings you 195 HD (720p) Lilly screencaps and four promo photos have been added to the Gallery.
