Start Up, episode 7 of Cold Case‘s 3rd season, won at a canter in last week’s poll so that gets the honour of being next week’s featured posted. Lucky you.
What is up for the vote in this, the KM UK Summer Of HD week 20 poll? Superstar and The River, that’s what. You know what to do.
A body turns up in the exam room of Frannie (Philly PD’s answer to Dr Maura Isles, played by Susan Chuang). When the dead woman’s son comes to claim the body he denies it is his mother. Now we have case of identity theft, a mystery dead body, and a cold case from 1954.
Back then the woman, Bettie Petrowski, was suffering from bipolar disorder and was committed (see what they did there?) to a mental institution as she was considered a danger to herself and others, including her young son.
In the end we get a tragic tale and a damning indictment of the way mental health problems were treated not that long ago. It would be nice to say we’ve moved on since then…
This episode of Cold Case had quite a guest cast list with Natasha Gregson Wagner (Two Girls and a Guy) and Diane Ladd (Chinatown) both starring. Also, not only did Susan Chuang make one of her occasional appearances but so did Kevin McCorkle as Det Gil Sherman. In fact we saw both Gil and Josie Sutton (Sarah Brown) for the final time in this one.
KM UK’s Summer Of HD 2014 commits (see what I did there?) to giving you 120 HD (720p) Lilly screencaps now to be found in the Gallery.
Committed took all the votes in last week’s poll making it the clear winner and so it will be the feature episode next week. Be sure to join us then for that.
This latest poll brings back Start Up and The Hen House for your consideration. Please pick your favourite of the two.
On the surface Frank’s Best is about a man wrongly convicted of killing his boss, Frank, the owner of a small delicatessen during a robbery. Of course we all know that in reality that’s just bit of padding to fill out the show around the real story.
It’s a bit of a cliché in TV show circles but in this episode, the 10th of season 3, Cold Case did the ol’ abandoned baby routine. It’s always a way of creating comic moments as the main characters, who we just know are ill suited to the demands of child care despite being so good at dealing with the pressures of modern policing, are left quite literally (used correctly you’ll notice) holding the baby. Of course it had to be Det. Nick Vera (Jeremy Ratchford) who gets to play mommy. Hilarity ensues.
Oh yes, the guy didn’t do it. The son did. And Vera tries to adopt Scotty, or may it was the baby, it’s not clear
As part of the KM UK Summer Of HD 2014 there are 167 HD (720p) Lilly screencaps and 3 promo photos now newly available in the Gallery.
We are down to the last few as we approach the end of our summer journey through Cold Case season 3.
This week and next there will only be two to choose from. So, which is it to be episode 5 Committed or episode 22 The River?
We had another tie in last week’s poll. There was no way to separate the two so I’ve randomly chosen the winner as Frank’s Best, come back next Monday for that.
