Bone Tomahawk HD Screencaps

screencaps_008Most of the information suggested that Bone Tomahawk would be released in US cinemas on Friday, and it would be available via VOD platforms at the same time.

Last week a review on the JoBlo website decried the lack of a cinema release for a film the writer felt needed to be seen on the big screen.

The truth appears to be somewhere in between.

Bone Tomahawk got a very limited theatrical release, possibly on only a dozen or so screens.  Box office numbers have proved difficult to find but there are only so many people that can watch a film at less than 20 cinemas in a few days.  It is not uncommon for a film to screened just once in a particular area to make it count as a cinema release and therefore eligible for awards and such.

A niche film with a lot of brutal violence is always going to be a tough sell to large audiences outside of the special festivals, which Bone Tomahawk has definitely been doing.  The news so far though is that the film has scored well in reviews.  The most common complaints are the length (it’s 132 minutes) and the slow pace in the first half.  That may be deliberate to make the steady ramping up of the pace and the ending more significant.

screencaps_011But what of Kathryn’s role?  I can confirm that she is in two short scenes.  The film script that is floating around that there Internet is accurate.

The first establishes that Sheriff Hunt (Kurt Russell) as a caring type.  His wife Lorna (Kathryn) is not in good health but he’s tried to make her feel better the night before (nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more, a nod’s as good a wink to a blind bat etc.).  The tender scene is interrupted by a visitor letting the Sheriff know of a problem in the town.

screencaps_018Ten minutes later (in the film) the couple are together in their house again.  The Sheriff is preparing to leave on the rescue mission and Lorna is helping but is clearly very concerned about her husband’s safety.

Neither scene is vital to the plot.  Plenty would have cut them both due to the pacing issue.  However, they do ground the character.  He’s not a super hero.  He’s husband as well as a man who takes the duties that go with the Sheriff’s badge very seriously.  Kathryn does a fine job of course.  That all sounds like Kathryn in Moneyball, but without cutting.

screencaps_038If anyone would like to write a full review of Bone Tomahawk for KM UK then please let me know.  I’d love to publish your thoughts.

I’ve put together a small collection of HD screencaps of Kathryn in Bone Tomahawk.  They are in the Gallery now.

Thanks to horror film fan Fate815 for finding a short clip of one of Kathryn’s scenes on YouTube for you all to see.

Bone Tomahawk Trailer

trailer_001_screenshotHours after its first ever public screening at the Fantastic Fest event, finally a trailer has been released for Bone Tomahawk via the Entertainment Weekly website.  See the article in full here.

poster_002_1500x2215At 2m30s it is quite long for a trailer.  It gives you the basic set up of the plot with a few dramatic moments shown.

As you can see from the above screenshot (see the Gallery for a larger version) Kathryn makes a fleeting appearance.  That glimpse is probably in proportion with the duration of her role in the full 2 hour feature.

A small copy of the trailer has been added to the KM UK Gallery for your perusal.

Bone Tomahawk is due for general release in the USA, including via VOD services apparently, on October 23rd.

More B.O. For The Perfect Guy

poster_005Perhaps he’s not so perfect after all :-)

After its second weekend of release in the US of A, movie thriller The Perfect Guy stayed in the top four of the box office.

Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, sequel to last summer’s hit, and Johnny Depp starer Black Mass took the 1st and 2nd spots respectively.  Last week’s runner up to The Perfect Guy, M. Night Shyamalan’s new film The Visit fared slightly better during the week to nudge ahead of it into 3rd place.

Also, apparently The Perfect Guy also opened in a few international territories, mostly in the middle and far east, which added an extra few hundred thousand dollars to the kitty.

trailer_001_1080p_007All-in-all so far the film has taken over $40m, more than three times the production budget of $12m.  A tidy little earner for the studio.  That’s before the release in most of the rest of the world, including the large European market.

To celebrate the continued success of the film I’ve added a small set of full HD (1080p) screencaps of Kathryn in the original trailer.  They are now in the Gallery.

The Perfect Guy – Spot The One We Love

protect_the_one_you_love_001Tomorrow The Perfect Guy hits the cinemas in north America.

Today KM UK brings you another glimpse of Kathryn in the movie.

If you thought Kathryn’s appearances in the previously posted trailer and featurette videos were of the ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ variety, you ain’t seen nothing yet.  If you even think about blinking with this one you’ve already missed it.

interview_soundbitesIncluding the credits at either end, this TV trailer titled ‘Protect The Ones You Love’ is 15 seconds long.  They squeeze a lot of movie into the fifth of a minute, including a few frames of a certain Ms. Morris.

Unlike the previous restaurant scene we’ve seen a couple of times now this one looks to be set at a home, possibly that of Kathryn’s character Karen.  Based on the film’s synopsis and the presence of Morris Chestnut and Sanaa Lathan in the scene I’d take a guess it is from early in the film.

The video and a few screencaps from it are now in the Gallery.

The Perfect Guy – Kathryn Featurette Appearance

featurette_the_story_003Today was expected to see the première event, red carpet and all, of The Perfect Guy movie.

Contrary to the information I had (and reported here) the first screening happened last week.  Kathryn was not, as far as I can find, in attendance.

interview_soundbitesTo help make up for that disappointment I have added a new promotional ‘featurette’ video to the Gallery.  The 1 minute long piece; which includes movie clips, snippets of interviews and some behind-the-scenes shots; focuses on the story.

At around the 20 second mark we Kathryn fans get a slightly different take on the scene we saw in the first trailer.  This time around we get a little more than an “ahhhh” and a smile.  Only a tiny bit more though :-)

As well as the video, I’ve included a handful of screencaps for your perusal.

The Perfect Guy is released this week in the USA.
