Yet again the French nation is putting the rest of us (this site excepting of course) to shame in their visible love of Kathryn and Cold Case.
There have been many articles published in the past few weeks on French-based TV news websites that, I think, are declaring the current broadcasting of Cold Case season 7 on the France 2 channel a big hit. If rough translations are accurate it looks like Cold Case is getting substantial audience figures, being amongst the highest rates shows in the country.
This article from early Feb puts it 2nd with over 5.5 million viewers. By the end of the month it is in first place with over 6 million. A third piece from last week says 7 million. Each suggests an audience share of 20% or more.
January and February saw Kathryn starring on the covers of several French TV magazines. Sadly they are not new photos and I don’t think their is much new content inside either. Oh well, it is good to know that the publishers think Kathryn is a good bet for drawing the punters to their wares though. Of course she is, she’s gorgeous.
A February Télé Poche cover (above right) declares in its headline “The real reasons for the ending of Cold Case” (or words to that effect). A Télé Z magazine from January (see left) goes without a statement and just sticks with a picture, the head and shoulders of the same picture in fact.
As well as those two recent magazine covers, we have one more from a year old Télé Z (see right) now added to the Gallery.
Au revoir.
We return to our multi-stranded theme of updates covering Kathryn’s public appearances in 2007.
This time the chosen event only takes in just one of the subjects that seemed to dominate the year: motorsport.
Each April the Grand Prix Of Long Beach, a weekend of motorsport headlined by the IndyCar Series, has a special Toyota Pro/Celebrity race in aid of charities supporting local children’s hospitals. Amazingly this has been going since the 70s. As the name suggests the household names from TV and film compete against established racers from a variety of disciplines of motorsport. The cars they use are near-standard Toyota road cars. The celebs are given training prior to being let loose around the California street circuit on race day.
In 2007 Kathryn was invited to take part in the race along with, amongst others, tennis superstar Martina Navratilova, Emily Proctor (CSI: Miami), Kelly Hu (Martial Law), Aisha Tyler (Friends), Robin Quivers (Howard Stern), George Lucas (Star Wars) and Kendra Wilkinson (Girls Next Door). As you can see there were a significant number of women in the field that year. At the end of the 8 lap race Kathryn finished in 13th (of 17) which is the same position she started in, which shows sensible consistency.
The race formed part of an episode of the freak show that was “Girls Next Door” featuring Kendra Wilkinson, which we dealt with over 2 years ago here on KM UK.
For this update we have added 19 photos to the Gallery of various sizes and quality. The NAPA 200 event update a few weeks ago was headlined by a special photo by Eric Gilbert. This time we are grateful Eric again, this time for allowing us to use two great photos by Earl Ma, also of Motorsport.com. You can see the pair of images showcased above. Sadly, Earl passed away a few weeks after the 2007 event.

Celebrity Racing? Sounds like a possible new reality TV format. Get a bunch of Z-list celebs (bound to include one of the seemingly endless supply of Baldwins, Buseys and Kardashians), each desperate to revive a long-dead/start career, strap a saddle and reins to them and get members of the public to ride them around a course. It’ll be on your screens before you know it. That’s a very frightening thought.
But enough of that. Instead, we return to our Gallery updates themed around things that dominated our A-List lady’s public appearances in 2007: the Monte Carlo TV Festival, motor racing and promoting the movie Resurrecting The Champ. This time we’re back to the motor racing.
In 2007 Kathryn became an investor in the Pole Position Raceway indoor kart track in Murrieta, California which opened in August of that year. In December the company held charity events at each of their four sites to raise money for underprivileged children through the Marine Toys For Tots Foundation. Kathryn attended the one at the Corona, California kart facility.
Just added to the Gallery are 16 photos (various sizes and qualities, several in larger sizes than seen before) of Kathryn taking part.
I must thank Debbie at Pole Position Raceway for her help and photos.

Have you heard the one about the Prince and the showgirls?
After the recent success (multiple Oscar and BAFTA nominations and recipient of many awards already) of the movie My Week With Marilyn, which is based on the time Marilyn Monroe came to England to film The Prince And The Showgirl, they will be making a sequel. That’s Hollywood for you. It will be called The Prince And The Showgirls: I’m Back! This time Elsie’s great-granddaughter (Kathryn) meets Prince Albert of Monaco at a TV festival and tries reconcile him with his estranged son. So far, so predictable. The twist is that helping Elsie in her endeavours is a beautiful blonde cyborg (Kristanna Loken). These images were taken on the set. It’s got hit (with a silent ‘S’) written all over it!
OK, not really I said in a previous post that two things dominated Kathryn’s 2007 public appearances: promoting the movie Resurrecting The Champ and motor sport. And the Monte Carlo Television Festival. For this update we are opening door number three.
Kathryn attended a cocktail party reception at the Monaco Palace hosted by HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco in June of 2007. As you can see actress Kristanna Loken (Terminator 3) and American royalty/occasional president Dennis Haysbert (“24”) were also there.
Kathryn, of course, looks fabulous in a dress that is dangerously close to some form of undergarment. I wish she’d (un)dress like that more often 😉
Kristanna and Kathryn know each from working together on Pensacola: Wings Of Gold. Their characters ended up sharing a house. Oh, imagine the pillow fights 😉
As usual we don’t do things the easy way around here, and we try and bring you best that’s available, so the main image above is around 3 times (or is it 9?) larger in size than previously seen anywhere. All 3 photos are now available in the Gallery.
Happy Kathryn Birthday Eve
As I’m sure you all know tomorrow is Kathryn’s birthday, but today we get to declare the Fan Art Video section of the KM UK Gallery open. Sound of ribbon being cut. Polite applause. Cheese and wine consumed.
New girl Katie‘s promo video, which we posted about earlier this week, is our first exhibit. Thanks to Katie for getting us off to a great start.
Lolly and Katie have provided wallpapers, some with a birthday theme to help mark Kathryn’s big day. Birthday fan art from previous years is still in the Gallery, of course.
If you create Kathryn-related fan art (wallpapers, banners, avatars, buttons, drawings or videos) and would like to showcase it here on KM UK please contact me.
Update: Thank you to amei for sending a lovely additional image (left thumbnail below).
Update 2: And another thank you to Kareen T for creating a great collection of 7 new wallpapers (see the middle thumbnail below for one of them).
