Resurrecting The Champ UK DVD

dvd_cover_001Not sure how this one passed me by.

As luck would have it it ties with the many-themed 2007 posts we’ve been running.

Back in February, the 13th to be precise, the movie Resurrecting The Champ was released on DVD here in Great Britain.  If IMDb is to be believed (and I’ve no reason not to) then this is the first official release of RTC in the UK.  Quite why it has taken 5 years is unknown.  And why did Momentum Pictures choose now to release it?

Anyway, what we have is the most basic of DVDs.  It’s just the film.  No extras.  At least they haven’t claimed “interactive menus” (what else could a menu be?) as a feature!  There is no accompanying Blu-ray version either.  Reflecting the limited nature of the package is the low cost, it’s a cheap £6.49 (~US$10).

For those that don’t know RTC tells the tale of Erik (Josh Hartnet) a struggling newspaper sports reporter who comes across a now homeless ex-champion boxer (Samuel L Jackson).  Erik seizes the opportunity to pen a potentially career-making article.  Hilarity ensues.  OK, it’s not so much with the hilarity.

dvd_cover_001Kathryn plays Joyce, Erik’s estranged wife and mother of their son (Dakota Goyo).  She is a little older than Erik, works for the same newspaper and, significantly, is a much more successful writer.  You know how fragile the male ego can be.  Kathryn’s role is not particularly big (somewhere between Minority Report and Cougars, Inc.) but her character is key.  She sets the yardstick by which Erik measures his own success, is the prize Erik is really after (he wants to prove himself and become a proper father/husband) and is the moral centre of the movie.

This is another Rod Lurie directed film, one of several that has Kathryn had roles in.  Alan Alda (M*A*S*H), Terri Hatcher (Desperate Housewives) and Rachel Nichols (G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) also star.

You can buy Resurrecting The Champ on UK DVD from Amazon.co.uk and find newly added copies of the DVD cover and a poster in the Gallery.

Kathryn @ 59th Annual Primetime Emmys 2007 – Arrivals

arrivals_29Returning to our 2007 theme we jump from a cold January in Utah at the Sundance Film Festival to a significantly warmer Los Angeles in September.  Things have indeed got a little hotter 😉

This, the first of a couple of updates we will have from the 59th Annual Primetime Emmys, we look back at the arrivals or red carpet.  “Back” is very much the theme of the photos too.

I’m sure you all remember Kathryn’s amazing red dress with plunging front and the ribbon criss-crossing her back.  Just a tug away from… disaster/triumph.*

We last did an update of photos from this event in September 2010.  Now we have a further 20 new images of various sizes to bring to you.  Find them all in the Gallery.

More photos from the rest of the event will be posted next week.

Wedding Date Anniversary

wedding_date_63At almost exactly this time last year I very cleverly, if I do say so myself, posted a set of photos tenuously linked to a major news item of the day.

The two things were the William & Kate Royal Wedding in April 2011 and the January 2005 première of the rom-com movie The Wedding Date.  See what I did there?  Kathryn was not in the wedding or The Wedding Date.  She did not attend the wedding in London but did attend the movie première in Los Angeles 5 and 1/2 years earlier.

To mark the anniversary of that post, and also the Will & Kate’s nuptials, I have added a massive 70 small images to the existing collection of photos the event (the première, not the wedding) in the Gallery.

Cold Case S04E11 – The Red And The Blue Full HD Screencaps

Cold_Case_S04E11_lilly_146As Britain suffers a typically “interesting” (as in wet, windy and cold) attempt at Spring we take another look at what could have been during last year’s KM UK Summer of HD.  We didn’t quite manage to cover the whole of Cold Case season 4.  One of the few missing episodes was number 11, The Red And The Blue.  Not any more.

And you know what that means:  Road Trip!

The murder of a Country & Western singer (yes, they do both kinds!) in Philly sees Lilly volunteer to go to Nashville to investigate.  Scotty draws the short straw and has to accompany her.  Short straw!?!?  Seriously?!?!  The rest of gang continue inquiries at home.

Scotty does some horsing around with a LEO, which leads to a great scene between him and Lilly (pictured above)  The episode is full of fun moments.  Yeehaw!

231 Full HD (1080p) Lilly screencaps from the episode can now be found in the Gallery.

John Mazlish Photoshoot – Sundance 2007

john_mazlish_001I’m not sure it gets better than that.

Day 4 of Kathryn’s time at the Sundance Film Festival (22 April 2007, day 5 of the festival) was devoid of “lounges”, première or screenings.  She did, however, do an interview for the website IndependentFilm.com at the ESPN Sports Zone bar on Main Street in Park City.  Kathryn spoke to Corey Boutilier about Resurrecting The Champ which premièred earlier in the week.  You can see a small video of the interview on the IndependentFilm website.

We don’t see Kathryn reach for the glass on the bar until the end of the video but you do get the impression that there was some imbibing before the cameras rolled.  She’s in a fun and rather flirty mood :-)

john_mazlish_002Watch the video and you’ll see a series of camera flashes as a photographer takes some still shots as the interview takes place.  The man wielding the camera is John Mazlish.

Not only has John kindly allow KM UK to post the photo seen with the video and on his own website, he has also very generously given us two additional photos from the set.  These are previously unseen so are something of an exclusive to KM UK.   I’m sure you’ll agree that John has done a wonderful job of capturing Kathryn’s natural beauty with the vivid colours and sharpness of the images.  I don’t think John can take credit for the smile though :-)

I struggled a bit with how to classify these photos.  It wasn’t really a public appearance, or an interview, despite an interview taking place, so I’ve gone with “photoshoot”.  John gets his own album in the Photoshoot section of the KM UK Gallery.  See all three fantastic photos in the Gallery.

Huge thanks to John to taking such great photos and allowing us to showcase them here.  You can see more of John Mazlish’s work on his website HERE.
