By now you should have it practically tattooed on the inside of your eye lids that the TV movie The Sweeter Side Of Life débuts in the USA on the Hallmark channel at 9pm (8pm Central) on the 19th of January. The Saturday after next.
Those of you with access to the Hallmark channel should have your alarms and, if you have them, PVR/Tivos devices primed to record it. However, if you manage miss this momentous occasion live then there are a number of times in the following few days when you can correct this massive oversight.
We do have to deal with the small matter of America being spread across four timezones. Not a situation us Brits are used to. We only get one, albeit the one that all the rest are relative to Further complicating things is that rather than having TV shows start at, for example, the four different versions of 9pm, they only use two: East Standard Time (EST, in places like New York) and Pacific Standard Time (PST, in places like Los Angeles). The middle of the country is covered by the aptly named “Central” (which is the 2nd timezone but generally takes in the 3rd one called Mountain as well). Which leaves us with each show being given 2 times in the form 9/8c, meaning 9pm in EST & PST and 8pm in Central. Of course, those that need to know this stuff have no doubt been dealing with it since birth, rendering this lengthy paragraph largely redundant 😐
Straight after the première broadcast there is a repeat showing. There are 4 more in the first first week, all after noon:
- 19th January: 9/8c and 11/10c
- 20th January: 1/12c and 9/8c
- 25th January: 8/7c
- 26th January: 3/2c
We’re nearly there.
Update (11 January 2013): There is a further showing of the film scheduled for 24th February at 3pm on the Hallmark Channel.
We could have had our first public appearance of Kathryn for 2013 yesterday evening (Friday, 4th January 2013) but it wasn’t to be.
The annual Television Critics Association Winter Tour has been taking place this past week, and continues for at least one more. Each day one or more of the television networks announce upcoming shows and films. Key cast and production staff members take part in presentations and Q&As with members of the press.
On Friday it was the turn of the Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel Winter 2013 TCA Gala. Bill Abbott (President & CEO, Hallmark Channels) and Michelle Vicary (Executive Vice President, Programming Crown Media Family Networks) spoke to those assembled about the TV shows and films that will feature across the various Hallmark channels in the first half of 2013.
Cedar Cove, starring Andie MacDowell (Four Weddings And A Funeral) and based on the series of books by Debbie Macomber, featured heavily. It is the networks first ever prime-time scripted drama. A host of film premières, including next weekend’s Nearlyweds were also announced. Many of the stars of the various productions attended the event.
But what of The Sweeter Side Of Life? I hear you ask. Here is what they said:
THE SWEETER SIDE OF LIFE premières Jan 19 and stars Kathryn Morris as a Manhattan socialite who suddenly finds herself single and returning home to work in her father’s small town bakery. Kathryn Morris sends apologies that she could not make it this evening. But James Best who plays Kathryn’s father is here with us this evening as well as Executive Producers and writers Janeen Damian and Michael Damian who also directed the movie.
The ladies at the Fabulous After 40 website are giving away a copy of the upcoming Hallmark Channel movie The Sweeter Side Of Life on DVD.
This is not a normal commercial DVD but a “screener” disc to be delivered prior to the film airing on the 19th of January (two weeks from today). The sort of thing the press might receive for review purposes. If you win the “sweepstake” you could get to see the film before the première broadcast. Exciting!
Plus, with the DVD will be a copy of the film’s co-writer/producer/director Michael Damian’s new single Rock My Heart, which will feature on the soundtrack of the film and probably the film’s soundtrack album.
All you need to do is visit the site, enter your name and email address, and click submit. We should warn you that there does not appear to be any direct feedback that your submission has been accepted, it just sends you back to the site’s homepage. You will receive a confirmation email though. Entries must be in by 12 noon EST (Eastern Standard Time) on the 9th of January 2013. That’s 5pm GMT on Tuesday.
Here’s a small timer showing the time left until the competition closes:
Note that the competition rules state that it is not open to anyone outside of North America. Presumably this is due to an unwillingness to post internationally. Perhaps some of our American and Canadian friends can volunteer to accept deliveries on behalf of those of us not in North America in the event of one of us foreigners winning.
Update (9 January 2013): The competition is closed and the page is no longer available.
The Sweeter Side Of Life movie got a social life.
KM UK has been tracking the page for months but the Hallmark Channel TV movie’s Facebook page has finally begun to see some action, as director/co-writer/producer Michael Damian Tweeted about it a few hours ago.
A handful of promo photos and lengthy trailer have been posted on the page. A link to the page has been added to the menu on the right.
Also, the trailer is available on YouTube for the less sociable amongst us.
Due to premiere on US TV in just a couple of weeks (Saturday, 19th January 2013) the movie stars Kathryn along with James Best (The Dukes Of Hazzard), Alastair Mackenzie (Monarch Of The Glen) and Stephen Horgan (The Tudors). Kathryn plays Desiree, a woman who finds herself penniless and living back in her old home town after a divorce.
So, in summary: there’s an official Facebook page for The Sweeter Side Of Life.
Let’s play spot the difference with these two variants of a new promo poster for The Sweeter Side Of Life starring Kathryn Morris (correctly spelt this time) and James Best (The Dukes Of Hazzard).
The shot of Kathryn is taken from one of the promo photos we saw previously.
Both images have been added to the Gallery.
Update: Director/producer/co-writer of TSSOL Michael Damian has posted on Twitter that the film is now on GetGlue.
